Nestled in Rio Del Mar, this lovely house for $200 per night is a great choice for your next break. Permit 28347 This is a 1 bedroom, 1 bath home that is ideal for 2 people but can sleep 4 by use of queen sofa bed in living room. It is deal for a couple's getaway at a bargain price. Located on the hill looking over the commanding view of the Monterey Bay; this unit is in a quiet and generally private complex. This single level rental is well decorated, well cared for, and fully furnished. As you enter the home, you see a spacious master bedroom with a full bathroom; furnished with a bathtub. You will then enter a bright, open living room with a pull out couch and other seating. There is a gas fireplace, flat screen TV with DVD and an amazing view. To get a better look at the ocean you can step onto the private deck located right off the living room. Here you will have use to a BBQ and a table with bar stools. The home also has a fully equipped kitchen with everything for your cooking and entertaining needs. Next to the kitchen is a dining table that will sit up to 4 people comfortably. It is a very short walk to the famous "10 Mile Beach" The home is conveniently located near a well known deli (Pixie Deli), coffee shop, convenience store and high end restaurant (Café Rio). You are also within 2 miles from grocery stores, restaurants, gas stations, golf course, tennis court, and much more! This condo was a great base for our trip to California. The view was spectacular! The condo was clean and comfortable., as well as quiet. Loved to be able to hear the ocean from inside. The owners even provided ice packs and a styrofoam cooler. That was a great surprise for us as we came from Ohio so couldn’t bring a cooler. This condo was a great location for visiting other places nearby. We will definitely stay here again!

This property is located in a great area. We were able to hear the ocean throughout the home. Their cleaning crew needs to be more thorough as many areas needed cleaning. Overall, our stay was very enjoyable.

The apartment was an ideal base for exploring the coast. We had a car so it is located to promptly get on the 1 or reach local shops and restaurants etc.
Space wise it was plentiful for a weeks stay, and we loved watching the sunrise and sunset from the balcony. It truly is the highlight of the property.
We appreciated the decor may not be to our style and the property to be dated as per previous reviews, but that this was reflected in the price point.
However there are a few small things which would not be much investment which would make the apartment even better;
- Pillows - there were 2 thin lumpy pillows for 2 people. I found similar pillows in the wardrobe but no pillow cases so they could not be used. I don't think it would be much to buy 4 decent pillows for the double bed.
- There was a random assortment of beach items in the living room cupboard as if left by previous guests. Only 1 lightweight beach chair though. Considering an apartment which can sleep 4, even 2 beach chairs would be much appreciated. The other mats also had holes in them.
- TV - the tv in the living room is older and as such channels are pixelated as it cannot display a good picture. We could not watch it in evenings as it hurt our eyes. Again a small investment for much more quality offering.
Overall the apartment seemed relatively clean with just a few callout points. We didn't use any crockery or glassware without washing them as most were not clean, there was even lipstick on some glasses. The bath/ shower could have been cleaner, in particular the mat within the shower. Finally the floors, we did not wear shoes in the apartment (as we wouldn't at home but also as per the many notes about this) yet even on day 1 our feet / socks became dirty quickly. I can only assume this had been swept but not mopped.
We completely appreciate investment required to modernise a property, but think some small tweaks could make it an even better holiday rental.

Great views and proximity to the beach! We slept on the pull out sofa so we could hear the ocean! The property manager was very friendly and helpful. It is an older property and could use a few updates but overall was clean and comfortable. Onsite parking right in front of the door is a huge plus also

Instead it was "Well we have another guest coming in so you need to be out". Ok, thanks...I called Marriott to book the night of the 27th and had probably five "Can we help you with anything else?" -type questions. I mean, yeah, you can, and here's my money, and my five star review to you, Marriott. Sorry Bailey, for being so inconvenient when wanting another night at your properties. I was happy to spend my money elsewhere. That's what I will be doing in the future as well. Rio Cheshire is across the street and is way easier to book, in case you wanted to know.

We have stayed in this unit several times since 2010 as I have family in the area. This is convenient for us and we love the view and being able to take walks on the beach and neighborhoods nearby..
The unit hasn’t changed during these years and, though well-cleaned and having a well equipped kitchen, could do with an up-date and new carpeting.

The apartment was tiny but, clean. Bed was hard as a rock, stove larger burner didn’t work. Heater didn’t work so the apartment was cold all the time.
Instructions were not understandable which made the vacation difficult.

Not only was it a great location, it was comfortable. Listening to the sound of the waves crashing on the beach all night was our favorite! Will definitely be staying here again next year!

I think that your description says it all: clean and comfortable.
This property is a little dated and run down, but still easy to access and has everything that two people would need for a short stay. Also very well located - 15 minutes to Capitola and Santa Cruz and 30 minutes from Monterey / Carmel. View of the ocean is beautiful, but you also look out at the hot-tar-finish roof tops of the adjacent units and cannot actually see the beach. the wall paper is curling at the seams in the bathroom, but it was clean and the linens were fresh and clean. We would stay here again in a pinch.

Dirty unit in a state of disrepair
Our unit was dirty when we arrived. Taped up window coverings and dirty silverware and pans i.e.: I pulled out a pan to do some cooking and found dried up food stuck to the bottom. The bathroom and kitchen small rugs were old and dirty. The management company promptly had them washed and gave us a new throw rug. There was dust and mold buildup inside the shower doors. All in all we left the unit cleaner than we found it. There was a lamp that was taped together.

Great location
The condo is very nice. It has a slightly obstructed view of the water bit still plenty of wide open ocean to view. It was very quite and had all the comforts of home. It is centrally located, you can walk to the beach, deli, restaurants and small grocery store. It is a short drive to Santa Cruz, Capitola and Watsonville. Easy accesses to Whale Watching, hiking and water sports.

Great Views, Had an amazing time!!!
This property has an amazing view, we enjoyed watching dolphins and whales every morning, amazing show of nature, took long walks on the beach and just relaxed. I couldn't give it 5 starts because the kitchen needs to be updated, there is a weird old smell as you walk in and it comes from every kitchen cabinet, otherwise we would stay here again.

Great getaway!
Great location! Close to Santa Cruz, Capitola and Monterey. Fabulous view of the beach, sunsets etc from the deck. Just a short walk down the hill to the beach. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable. Good size kitchen conveniently open to living room area. The bathroom was small but the sink was separate from the tub and toilet. Had an issue with hot water but was immediately resolved once I called. Would definitely rent here again.

Awesome views!
My husband and I stayed at this condo for one week while exploring northern California. When we walked in, we were delighted with the views from the living/dining room. That first night we were excited when we saw about 20 dolphins feeding in the ocean while enjoying a cocktail on the balcony. Little did we know that we would see such sites nearly every morning and evening. The condo was very clean--I didn't find a speck of dust on anything--even the little knick knacks. It was obvious that the owners use the condo--it was probably the best stocked place we have ever stayed (and we have traveled all over the world). We did most of our own cooking and had everything we needed. We enjoyed exercise walks on the nearby path along the ocean. This condo is managed by a property management company. They responded quickly to any calls/emails; the office is located just down the hill from the condo, and that is where we picked up and returned the keys. The company returned our deposit promptly. There is only one thing we would change--we were required to bring our own sheets and towels (including kitchen towels). Otherwise, the charge for the bed to be made and towels furnished was $90. For someone traveling by car, that isn't such a big deal. However, for folks like us who were flying, this required an extra piece of luggage. Fortunately, we were traveling on an airline where we didn't have to pay a luggage fee. For $90, we could have bought new sheets and towels :)! That being said, we wouldn't hesitate to stay at this place again.
