Nestled in Monte Rio, this attractive house for $491 per night is a fantastic option for your next vacation. La Rive Gauche is a charming family home nestled among the redwoods and overlooking the Russian River, but still near restaurants. This cozy and rustic home features warm rich colors, wood floors, woodstove and country charm. Two sliding glass doors from the living room open onto a sunny deck with river views. The deck features a 4-person hot tub, redwood furniture and a charcoal barbecue. A flight of stairs leads to a seasonal vegetable garden and fenced yard with outdoor furniture. From the yard, 40 steps lead down the riverbank to a seasonal deep-water dock and 3 kayaks (available mid-May through mid-September depending on river conditions). A great home for families in a quiet, residential neighborhood! With 4 bedrooms and 2 baths, this home comfortably sleeps 8 guests. On the main floor, you'll find a full bath and 3 bedrooms (1 King and 2 sets of Twins). On the second floor is a master suite and full bath with lovely river views. The well-equipped kitchen has a large refrigerator, granite countertops, garbage disposal, electric oven, gas cooktop, work island, plenty of counter space and a laundry room with a front-loading washer and dryer. No dishwasher. Centrally located in Monte Rio, La Rive Gauche is within walking distance of many local attractions, including the Monte Rio public beach, Rio Theater, Bartlett's grocery, restaurants, bars, and shops. Jenner by the Sea, Northwood Golf Course, Armstrong Woods, and many Russian River wineries are just a short drive away. Explore the river by kayak, go fishing in the river, feed the ducks from the dock, or watch for river otters, turtles, ospreys, and herons. The garden is for guests to enjoy, so feel free to pick some blackberries for breakfast, or vegetables for dinner. Know Before You Book: Maximum Occupancy and Quiet Hours: The maximum occupancy at La Rive Gauche is 8. Quiet hours are from 10:00 pm until 7:00 am. Outdoor amplified sound is prohibited at any time. Parking: There is off-street parking for 2 cars in a narrow driveway and carport. Two small cars (or one larger vehicle) can park directly in front of the house. Additional street parking is available on a first-come first-served basis around the corner from the house. RVs, trailers, and campers are prohibited, per the Sonoma County Vacation Rental Ordinance. Bed Sizes: Master bedroom: Queen bed; Second bedroom: King bed; Third bedroom: 2 Twin beds; Fourth Bedroom: 2 Twin beds. Heat Source: Central heating, woodstove (no firewood or kindling provided). Rec/Game Room: The game room is an unheated, uninsulated space. Temperature varies throughout the year. A/C: The house does not have air conditioning. Being near the coast, the nighttime temps drop and just opening some windows is usually enough to cool the house. Pet Policy: La Rive Gauche no longer allows dogs. Game Room: The air hockey table is no longer at the house, but there is a ping-pong table! Docks and beaches are seasonal only and available from mid-May to mid-September at La Rive Gauche. The home is located below the summer dams and is not impacted by their installation and removal. Kayaks at this home are available starting mid-May to mid-September only and will be on the dock for you. The river is usually too swift for boating in the winter and many docks and beaches are under water until late spring. Standard amenities not included: The kitchen does not have a dishwasher. The house was very nice for 6 adults. It was very clean and had all the amenities. The private dock, kayaks and floaty toys were a huge plus. As was the very nice hot tub! We were on the river every day. The garden provide some yummy veggies for cooking. The only very slight improvement that could have been made is the sitting areas in the back of the house. Lots of overgrown weeds and thistles made it hard to use. But the outside deck had plenty of sitting area.

Our family, including 2 young kids and their grandparents, had a very comfortable stay. We loved the holiday decor (a decorated Christmas tree!), the hot tub overlooking the River, and the proximity to Monte Rio shops and Guerneville. The home was warm, had everything we needed in the kitchen, and felt safe with our small children. We hope to return in the summer so we can enjoy the kayaks and dock!

Great house to stay with family. Having four separate bedrooms is really nice. Nice open living area and kitchen area. Outside deck and hot tub are nice. There is a garden to get vegetables from. Direct access to the river, two single kayaks and one double kayak were great. We kayaked a lot this trip. It is an uncrowded part of the river and it is very peaceful. There’s a nice restaurant A couple minute walk from the house which was a nice bonus.

We picked this place because it had a dock leading to the river and was fenced in for dogs and had a play room for our teen kids. We booked 3 nights in April. Before finalizing the reservations, I was notified that because of the recent rains, the dock was inaccessible. I understood...that was fine. When we got there and surveyed the area, we found the backyard almost totally inaccessible. There were no lawn chairs/umbrella laid out, no vegetable garden, no FENCE, only posts remained. There was a note taped to the downstairs playroom asking us not to enter and that everything was destroyed in the flood. The entire backyard was dried mud. I understand that weather is out of our control, but what was frustrating was that none of this (except for the dock) was revealed to us beforehand. If we had known the condition, we would not have rented this place. We emailed Russian River Vacation Homes the next day at noon and notified them that we would not stay the 3rd night given the condition and asked for a refund. They did not respond until we phoned them before close of business and they agreed that they would refund us for the 3rd night plus $99 for fees and compensation. We felt that they should have compensated more since the photos were misleading and not as advertised. The inside of the house was accurate and that was it. This place is not fenced for dogs...the front gate did not even close and the backyard had no fence. My dog ran 2 houses down before we caught her. I've been renting from VRBO for over 10 years and this was the worse simply because it was false advertising. This place should have been closed for repairs after the flood. It should not have been available to rent in order to be accurate to the photos.

The kitchen had everything we needed, the remodeled bathroom downstairs is like a SPA, and the back deck with the ideal spot for sunning and soaking! Oh! And EVERYONE slept like babies in the beds. But above all, the customer service with the owner and Russian River Rentals was phenomenal! We had a beautiful welcome gift and the rental company was so beyond helpful and communicative and easy to work with. Can’t recommend it enough!

We were there just after the extreme flooding and they had already done tons of cleanup. It didnt hinder our stay and 8 guys slept comfortably for a fun guys weekend. Awesome deck for bbqing and relaxing. Parking on the street was a bit tight, but very workable. Bring your own music for the deck!

The home is a beautiful throwback to yestetyear. The hot tub is great for watching the sun set with some RR Pinot. The river access is super convenient. The owner makes the best damn cookies bar none!

The setting was great, right on the river, however the pictures on the web site gave a very different picture to reality. The house is old and in desperate need of some maintenance and upgrades. The garden area is cluttered with little to no maintenance. The toilet seat in the one bathroom was practically falling off, and the toilet roll holder in the other bathroom had fallen off. The screen door to the patio was broken and damaged. The house is cluttered with nick nacks to the point of being overwhelming.
We just felt that for the price we paid we, expected more.

Impeccable service and the home was delightful. So relaxing to sit on the deck and look out at the gorgeous view. Very nice kitchen and plenty of room for our family. The absolute best part was being able to walk down the stairs to fenced garden and private dock to use the provided kayaks for a lazy paddle up or down the river. The week went by way too fast!

we had a great time. we were 2 adults, 2 teens, 2 dogs. the neighbors were horrid loud drunks, but the house was divine so bring earplugs. i saw a bald eagle the first day. the osprey were amazing to watch. the vegetable garden was great to have. also we found endless wild blackberries, a peach tree, a plum tree and an apple tree on the property. the beds were great, the main shower was heaven and you can just gaze up at giant redwoods while you shower.
there is a very large "butterfly lilac" tree outside and i got the most amazing photos of hummingbirds and butterflies, which were there non stop all day long!
i could see the milky way all night long, the night sky is amazing here.
the kitchen was stocked, the owners and management seemed very kind and reasonable.
the kayaks were great, not too old. the area and location is great, and you can walk to the store or a few restaurants. id definitely go back again, and i normally never hit the same vacation home twice. this was a winner!
