Fenwick Islander Motel

This was a last minute decision during a busy holiday weekend, so I was glad to find a vacancy so close to the beach. The staff that I interacted with during my stay, especially Fred, were all very warm and welcoming. The communication and responses via text were were timely and made my stay there very efficient. The room was very basic, and I was on the first floor with a view of the highway and parking lot, but being able to get to the beach quickly for sunrise was just what I was hoping for when I decided to book that morning to avoid driving home late that evening. The free parking and convenient location of the hotel were bonuses.

The motel has obviously had a history, so I was not expecting a lot beyond the basics. The soundproofing of the room was minimal, so I heard people in the hallway and the room next door, but not as much of the highway noise that I read could be an issue. Maybe because it was a Sunday night and there wasn't a lot of people out and about in that part of the beach town. The bathroom was a tight fit, and the facilities were definitely older, but it served it's purpose. When I headed out early to catch the sunrise, I was surprised to find the door that led out to the road propped open, which was concerning to me given that I was on the bottom floor not too far from that open door (right off of Route 1). Overall, I was in and out in less that twelve hours, so I got just what I needed from this stay.

Location

The pool area is very nice, very nice lounge chairs, very comfortable and clean. In the room The showers had great pressure. The access to the beach was nice and easy. There's a sound behind the hotel thats beautiful. The one housekeeper i wish I remembered her name, she had glasses, she was awesome. She brought me a fresh stack of towels, washcloths, hand towels as soon as I sat the old dirty towels out. Wifi worked well.

The bed was really hard to sleep in. The mattress was so uncomfortable we (my husband and i) couldn't sleep more than 45mins without waking up. The pillows were the larger size but they had nothing in them. I believe they were the feathered kind, or maybe the down pillows but they were so worn out they were literally flat! The snack machine was very empty. The ice machine had black stuff all over where the ice comes out. Just looks like it really could use a good cleaning.
