Enjoy complete privacy and comfort in this tastefully appointed 1 bedroom, 1 bath garden cottage located in the charming tree-lined neighborhood of Mount Carmel in Redwood City.
The cottage is a stand alone, custom built home, nicely situated behind a charming 1920's main house. It has its own private lit entry path through a lush garden, separate front entrance, relaxing patio garden and plentiful on street parking.
The cottage was designed and furnished by a professional interior designer with attention paid to all the details that make a space inviting and relaxing for short and long term guest stays.
This cottage is conveniently located within walking distance to downtown Redwood City and the Cal Train station offering (35 minute) service to San Francisco and San Jose. It's also within easy commute distance to Facebook, Google, and Oracle, (and their shuttle stops) and just 7 miles from Stanford University and downtown Palo Alto.
The light-filled cottage features a spacious living room with comfortable seating, gas fireplace, dining area and well equipped gourmet kitchen.
Both the living room area and bedroom have sliding french doors which open onto a private patio garden complete with outdoor furniture, umbrellas, water feature and gas BBQ.
The well appointed bedroom has a queen size pillow top bed, built-in reading lights with remote, high quality linens, large closet with built-in's, operable skylight and black out draperies/shades.
The modern bathroom has a tub/shower, high quality towels/linens, hair dryer and extra storage as well as its own in unit washer and dryer, ironing board and iron located behind sliding mirrored doors for easy access.
Quiet central heating and air conditioning throughout.

If it were possible to give more stars than 5, I would! I stayed in the cottage for two months to heal (nearby Stanford) with one family member who was working part-time remotely. From the get-go, Kirsten was absolutely gracious and communicative re: the space, the neighborhood, and all the details related to check-in, and more.The cottage is exactly as described and pictured: it is private, quiet, and and surrounded by beautiful landscaping. Indoors, the high ceilings and skylights bring in lots of light and it's exceptionally spacious and well laid-out (eg you won't feel "cramped" at all). There is plenty of space and resources for one person to work without bothering the other! And, everything you need is on-hand: washer/dryer; dishwasher; fully-equipped kitchen, and perhaps the best -- heated floors in the bathroom. The neighborhood is surprisingly quiet and easily walkable despite being close to downtown Redwood City (restaurants and shopping are all very close by). And, if you are looking for less urban nearby places to explore, there are numerous county parks and open-space areas -- many among the redwoods, or along the bay, for beautiful walks. I am so grateful to Kirsten for her hospitality, and for the time I had in her cottage. I would happily stay here again.

Our stay at Kirsten's well-equipped cottage was lovely. It was exactly what we were looking for in an extended stay. Very clean, bright and comfortable space with a nice private outdoor patio. It's in a great location close to everything, yet in a quiet residential neighborhood. Communication with our host Kristen was excellent from booking to check-out - very friendly and hospitable. Would highly recommend!

Come with your clothes - this is a super simple option for anyone in transition for a move or relocation, for a seasonal getaway or just a 'need space' on your own for a while type of place. The host has thought of everything you'll need and more. My husband and I were in between on our move and found this to be a perfect spot to re-energize between our move-out and move-in. Lovely patio area for some outside space, complete with BBQ. A unique and very walkable neighborhood, as well as to stroll to downtown Redwood City restaurants. It's really hard to do better!

Cottage is comfortable and quiet. It is professionally decorated. Cottage has a full service kitchen (Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods close by) and also laundry facilities located in bathroom. Comfortable seating for 5 in living room and it is the perfect place to have a few friends over for dinner. You will get a “Good Night’s Sleep” on the mattress and black-out drapes in the bedroom are also helpful. Enjoy the private patio for relaxing, dining and grilling. If you like to go out to eat, many wonderful restaurants are close by.
Places to visit: Palo Alto Farmer’s Market on Sunday’s, Manresa Bread in Los Altos (best croissants and bread in bay area), Mayfield Bakery & Cafe in Palo Alto (best breakfast), Sancho’s Tagueria in Redwood City, Allied Arts Guild (gardens and craft shops) Menlo Park, Cantor Arts Center at Stanford
We enjoyed the wonderful weather (even in August). Location is perfect, San Francisco and San Jose both 30 minute drive (check traffic) and San Francisco International Airport even closer. Also perfect weekend getaway for people in the area. Wonderful location for visiting Stanford and we look forward to returning next year! Home owner is helpful and thoughtful.
