About this house rental

Relax and enjoy this great 2 bedroom, 1 bath waterfront cottage with a beautiful new dock in historic Cedar Key, Florida. Enjoy sitting on the dock drinking coffee and watching all the birds and fish jumping. Bring your rod and reels and fish or crab off the dock. Watch the red and black drum tailing:) The house has a large shaded yard and porch that looks out over the Eastern Bayou as well.
The Bonaire Cottage has the original hardwood floors and native unpainted knotty pine walls that add warmth to this unique original Florida home. The Master bedroom has a Queen bed and the second bedroom has 2 twin beds. Some of the original owner's dishes, decoration, and artwork are still displayed, adding much charm to this 'Florida Cracker House'

Watch the abundant wildlife and beautiful to spectacular sunrises from the back porch or dock. There are white egrets that perch in the yard and occasionally on the porch. Enjoy a cup of coffee or have your breakfast on the back porch which has a great swing and outdoor seating that overlooks the Gulf's eastern bayou. On low tide see the Pink Spoon Bill's snooping around for minnows that were left behind. Sometimes we have porpoises join us and put on a show rounding up mullet. That usually visit us in the late spring and summer. Not always, but sometimes several days in a row. Lots and lots of birds during the spring, summer, and fall seasons.

Grill your catch of the day and have a picnic or maybe just have an old fashion wiener roast in the large shaded backyard. Maybe have a game of Horseshoes! In the fall, enjoy an outdoor fire or oyster roast. Access to the deeper water channel #2 is approximately 250 feet away but it has gotten shallow over the last several years so we recommend launching your boat at the outside boat ramp. (Gulf of Mexico) That way you are not tied to the tides. No need to get in your car...boat rentals and fishing supplies are available across the street at the Cedar Key Marina. They are also available at D & W Bait shop...around 300 feet from the cottage.

The high school's tennis courts are open to the public. A basketball court is located at the beach downtown, just go join in a pickup game or you may just have the court to yourself!

If you are looking for a fancy, high-end house, this isn't the place for you. But if you are looking for a relaxing, fun, interesting, old fashion vacation with your family or friends then Cedar Key and the Bonaire Cottage would be a perfect fit!

The Bonaire Cottage will make your vacation stay in Cedar Key charming in every way.

We have stayed here before and love the house and host. The house was hit hard by two hurricanes and the furnishings inside are new. We alternate between sitting on the front porch watching the cars and bikers go by, and the back porch overlooking the water and the wildlife…osprey in the nest if you are lucky! The kitchen has ample cooking supplies and some basic spices for cooking. Coffee was in the fridge when we were there. This is “Old Florida” at it’s best, as is Cedar Key! Make sure to hit the Tiki Bar about a mile or so away as you head out of town. Great sunsets there and they are known for the “Loaded” Bloody Mary! The host is great, and we actually met up with her since she happened to be in town when we were.We take our bicycles and ride pretty much the whole island. It’s one of our favorite places to go, combining good rides with down time.

First time to Cedar Key. Our host Rosemary provided us great tips on where to eat. The cottage was evacuatePlenty of complementary spices, paper products and ice. Plenty of pots and pans. No dishwasher or washer or dryer. But easy to survive without them over a three to four day stay. Only thing missing was a wine bottle opener. Decore was great. Only improvement would be a walk in shower.

This is a very cute cottage. Having your own beautiful back porch facing the Bayou with everything you need. The private dock is a sweet treat. It is extremely convenient to all the activities and restaurants downtown. The fishing on the pier was fun and they have lots of really nice people that live in Cedar Key.

Awesome host. I got the privilege to meet and speak with her personally. Check in and out was a breeze. Cedar Key was a little slow for my pace. They were hard hit by hurricane Helene, and they are still recovering. It is good for fishing, and kayaking and there is a nice public park with a small, but nice beach and swim area.
