About this house rental
Located in Sunset Beach, this charming house for $182 per night is a great choice for your next trip. We are an affordable,comfortable home located mid block on the popular west end of the island. The living area and dining room (seats 6) are just off the kitchen with a 3 seat breakfast bar. There is a TV and DVD player in the living room, and another TV in one of the bedrooms. The house has 4 bedrooms total, 2 on each side of the house. Each side has one bedroom with a Queen size bed, the other has 2 twins, with a Jack and Jill bathroom between, perfect for 2 young families to share. If you want to be outside you can enjoy coffee on the screened front porch in the morning, and husk corn for dinner or just lounge on the back deck in the afternoon.Your pet will enjoy the view from either porch too. Under the house there is plenty of room for side by side parking, and the kids will enjoy a swing, table and chairs for snacks or games, and concrete pad for their chalk artwork. There's an outdoor shower and hose for rinsing off that sand and sunscreen! Cleaning fee for after your stay is included in our rental rates. You may also opt to bring your pet , have bath towels provided for each guest, and sheets provided for each bed, just let us know. NEW in 2016 check out the "Visit Sunset Beach" app. Once you cross over the bridge to our small barrier island, leave your work and daily routine behind. Enjoy our wide beach, with it’s south facing gradual slope and gentle waves, bike around the island, or walk west to the Kindred Spirit on the Bird Island Preserve and leave your thoughts in the notebooks found in the mailbox. Check out the island shops, pier and turtle nest talks. Close to home base, you can enjoy weekly summer concerts in front of the Ingram Planetarium, and visit the shops and restaurants on High Market. On Thursday morning you can visit the Sunset Beach Waterfront Market at the Sunset Beach Park (next to Bill’s Seafood) supporting local producers of homemade and homegrown products. Returning visitors to Sunset will enjoy the Old Bridge Preservation Society,new home of the old pontoon swing bridge since 2010, located almost under the new bridge, near the new public boat ramp. Off island,Sunset Beach is surrounded by golf courses,as well as fishing and kayaking tours for the entire family. Nearby Calabash features seafood restaurants along the historic waterfront, other varied restaurants-especially breakfast, and the must see Callahan's Shops. If you want to stick with your fitness routine, the beach and streets of Sunset Beach are perfect for a run; if you need a group activity, Crossfit OIB and Body Edge are both about 3 miles away. 5 miles up the road check out the Museum of Coastal Carolina and the new Shallotte River Swamp Park, opening June 2015- featuring eco tours and zip lines, something your kids will love! If you need some city excitement, Myrtle Beach, SC or Wilmington, NC are both close trips for restaurants,entertainment,shopping,cultural and rainy day activities.

We really enjoyed this house and our stay was perfect. The house was equipped with everything we needed to cook our meals so we could spend more time on nice family walks and game playing during our December stay. Personally, I appreciate the nice, wide, sturdy, stairs leading to the front door, the laundry room off of the kitchen rather than downstairs, and, the very accommodating owner.

We loved our time at the Doghouse. Many of us hadn’t seen each other since before our little one was born and it was an incredible spot to reconnect and spend quality time together. The house was clean and comfortable with enough space to stretch our legs without overcrowding each other, ideal walking distance to the beach, and close enough to restaurants if we didn’t feel up to cooking. Our kiddo loved finding the plate of fresh baked cookies upon arrival.

Mary has a beautiful, bright clean home. It made us feel right at home with coziness and modern decor. The dog pictures added to the charm. And we appreciated that size didn’t matter when it came to our dogs. Gems like this home are hard to find. We will def rent again when we come to Brunswick county to visit family. A wonderful short walk to the beach in a quiet neighborhood was also enjoyed amongst us all.

We were 6 adults, 2 kids and two small dogs sharing this house. First off location can’t be beat!! Half block away from the water. The house was perfect for us. Loved the front porch and the outdoor shower is a great feature with a large group. Yes house is dated but was clean and met all our requirements. Mary was great at communication and was a perfect host. It’s a rarity for our entire family to be together and The Dog House allowed us to have a wonderful and very memorable time together. Thank you Mary for that! Hope we can do it again!

We had an amazing time. The location was great and the house was super clean. The communication with the property owner was great and the welcome basket was a nice surprise! The house itself was perfect. There was some wear and tear to some of the cosmetics of the house but that is expected of an older house and it did not have any impacts to our stay. We would definitely stay here again, highly recommended!

Great time at Sunset Beach. Cottage was just as described. Easy Check in/out, Linens/Towels, Stocked Kitchen, Super Clean. Just a short walk to the beach. Located on a quiet street. We enjoyed sitting on the screened porch and rocking in the chairs underneath the cottage. Perfect place to relax. Highly recommend.

The house was an easy walk to the beach and to the main road to get on the island. We rented bikes at Julie’s Rentals which is also a great coffee shop. We walked to the Trading Post a couple of evenings to get ice cream after dinner. We also visited Bird Island which is a few short blocks from the house. The house was clean and well appointed. We enjoyed the screenedm in porch. It was a great week!

Dog house was clean and comfortable. Lots of room for our three grown up kids and 1 1/2 year old granddaughter. Spent lots of time in screened in porch and down on the beach collecting seashells and enjoying the beauty of the area.
