The animals, the locale. Unique!
It is a challenging location on really hot days with children. Some of the signage for tracks was wrong. The island has a lot of potential for longer, multi-day bushwalks and bike rides.

We had a wonderful stay ! The cottage is lovely, very well equipped ( kitchen has more than everything you need ), very clean and so quiet. Alan was very kind and offered to transfer our bags over from the ferry. We would highly recommend this place if you love remote wilderness ( with lots of koalas and birdlife ! )but without missing out on the comfort when you come home from your walks.

This was our second visit to French Island Cottage. We enjoyed the warm welcome by the hosts Mylene and Alan, quiet surroundings, local wildlife, beautiful scenery and secluded beaches. The hosts had gone out of their way to make our young kids welcome with appropriate toys. Mylene's freshly cooked meals were delicious and value for money. When our vehicle got bogged on an off-road track, Alan promptly came to our help which was much appreciated.
This is not about the accommodation - but about using Google map on French Island to find directions. It is best to get local knowledge whether particular roads are motorable.
