About this house rental
Originally built and designed for our own family, this unique and beautiful home on Pierce Pond truly is a โdreamโ home. It is situated on the edge of one of the most peaceful ponds in Downeast Maine. Shared with loons, herons, bald eagles and jumping wide mouth bass, Pierce Pond is one of the few bodies of fresh water that is not lined with camps and houses! And itโs also close to the magnificent coast. In 10 short minutes you can be in downtown Blue Hill or Castine and a ยฝ mile walk takes you to Northern Bay on the Penobscot coast.
First Level:
As you enter, you will immediately capture the incredible views. The open floor plan has a large custom kitchen with granite tile countertop, stainless steel appliances and breakfast bar/island. A fieldstone fireplace graces the living room and two large sliders open up the living and dining room to the covered wrap-around porch. To the right of the entrance are closets, a large tiled mud room for washer and dryer, a full bath and access to an oversized two-car garage. First floor has radiant heat.
Second Level:
An elegant open maple stair case leads you to the second floor where there are 4 bedrooms and 2 full baths. The master bedroom has its own master bath with 2 pedestal sinks, cathedral ceiling with pine, huge closets and sliders that open out to a balcony with one of the best views in the house. Three more bedrooms all with maple floors and another full bath are laid out to maximize the view.
Lower Level:
The walkout basement is finished with maple floors and a beautiful fieldstone hearth with wood stove. It is set up as a den with lovely windows and French doors that lead to the pond for swimming, kayaking and paddle boarding.

Our third year at this lovely spot. We enjoy the beautiful lake, the local hikes, and the proximity to Acadia. This year we were lucky enough to arrive at blueberry harvest time. The house is spacious and comfortable with adequate seating and spaces for reading, puzzle-making, and relaxing. The lake is stunningly beautiful and serene. Our host was available when needed but not intrusive. Altogether a wonderful vacation.

The house is situated on a spring fed pond that is simply beautiful. We swam, kayaked, paddle boarded, and sat on the dock to enjoy the sunset. Excursions to Blue Hill and grocery stores were easy. We hiked various trails and went to Acadia and Stonington for a boat ride around the granite islands where we saw seals. Great place for adults and kids.

We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at Pierces Pond. The house was perfect and very clean. The beds were comfortable, a very nice kitchen for cooking and plenty of books for reading throughout the house. It had everything we needed. Joanne was very helpful about restaurants and things to do. The house was very secluded on the pond. There were times when it felt we were the only ones on the pond, except for the loons. It was perfect for kayaking, swimming and sunset watching. The whole experience was outstanding.

My family and I had the pleasure of spending four nights at Dragonfly Cove and loved everything about it. Even though it was too cold to swim in the pond, we were still able to enjoy it for all of its beauty. Making sโmores at the outdoor fire pit was one of my childrenโs favorite activities. We loved the private hiking trailthat brought us from the house to an enchanting park of the lake. Joanne, the owner, couldnโt be more lovely and mirrored her home with her graciousness and warmth. Spending our evenings reading in front of the cozy wood fireplace really perfected our stay. I already miss it so much and really hope I have an opportunity to return one day!
