Nestled in Friday Harbor, this charming condo for $169 per night is a fantastic choice for your next trip. Spacious Studio Downtown. Explorer's Suite (in a 5-unit building). Unit Sleeps 3 people. The Explorer is one of 5 separate Suites to rent among the Acanthus House. The Explorer is located on the ground floor and equipped with a Queen size bed (an air mattress is also provided in the room) and kitchenette (no oven). This Suite offers a 3/4 bathroom with walk-in tiled shower. It is fully furnished with chairs, new small appliances and an electric fireplace. Wi-fi and a Smart TV is supplied for guests to log-in to their preferred streaming services. Guests will find that one block from Acanthus Suites will bring you into the heart of downtown Friday Harbor, offering many delicious restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, ice-cream shops and art galleries, all within walking distance. On Saturday mornings the local San Juan Island Farmer's Market is a 5-minute walk from the Acanthus Suites! Any or all Acanthus Suites can be rented for different group sizes! The Acanthus House is one of Friday Harbor's first important historic homes. Built in 1913, it was a wedding gift for a wealthy merchant’s daughter. It has been beautifully restored. Located in historic downtown Friday Harbor; only 3 blocks from the ferry dock and Port of Friday Harbor and is an excellent option for those coming to explore the island and have a comfortable place to rest at night. The internet / Wi-fi at this house should be sufficient for streaming video, phone calls, remote work and video conferencing. Internet Speed Test Results… Download Speed: 65.03 Mbps -- Upload Speed: 55.92 Mbps -- Ping: 50.3 Ms (Average of three tests that were conducted January 2024 using SpeedCheck Pro) Parking available to guests. **The Acanthus House rooms do not have Air Conditioning but do have a fan during summer months.** **The Acanthus House rooms do not have kitchens or laundry facility but is close to restaurants and a laundromat.** This Suite has good cell phone reception. This is a Non-Smoking building.

Great location. Rental was accurately described. Only negative is that there are no optional shades for the windows. I stayed at this location for my night shift rotations so I had to sleep during the day, and with the lack of shades or curtains, it was light and very hard to sleep

We enjoyed out stay. The picture shows a couch and there was no couch. There was a blow up bed, but that was not in the description. The walls are very thin and we were awaken every night at 1:00 am by the sound of the other residents coming home.
Beautiful neighborhood, would be happy to stay there again.

Perfect location if you’re on foot. It’s within walking distance from all the shops and restaurants and the ferry dock in Friday Harbor. Charming old home. Could use a sofa for relaxing after a long day of walking (Explorers Suite). The bed was comfortable but in an awkward spot. Would stay again.

We wanted someplace walkable near town. This was exactly what we needed. And the beautiful craftsman details in the unit made it lovely to spend time there too. Couple of quirks- bathroom door didn't close completely and there was a livingroom lightswitch on the outside of the front door. Wasn't an issue...just odd! Would certainly stay here again

We rented 2 rooms for 8 adults. This and explorers suite. Good amount of room. The shower stall in this room could use a good grout bleach. Dark and has smell. Otherwise clean. Not really a kitchen area. The bathroom sink doubles as your “kitchen”. Location was fantastic.

Our stay was 8 days and we loved the warm antique was clean and comfortable.The website showed a griddle and toaster but the room did not have these items. There are large windows in this unit for lots of natural light but 4 of the windows do not have window coverings. Waking up before you are ready and privacy was an issue. We had to cover the windows with dark sheets, that solved the problem. Otherwise, we loved the walk ability to all the shops and restaurants andtheferry.

The location of this unit was fabulous, a one minute walk to town. The space itself was roomy and Qwaint with an electric fireplace for Heating. A bonus was an additional heating unit in the bathroom.
Be aware that there are several other units in the same house, With a 9 PM to 9 AM curfew for noise. We had issues two nught with other guests, but the property management company ended up, making making good on a mat. Know that if you need an immediate response, you need to use the emergency number, not just the regular phone number.
We enjoyed the funky space, but the pillows were hideous and need to be replaced the shower needs to have it’s tile replaced, or at least the mold and mildew scrubbed from the grout.
Bare bones hospitality at a 5-star price, but you can’t beat the location.

I was concerned for my privacy inside this property. There were no blinds on the Eastern facing windows. This allowed for other suite tenets to see into my room. I made sure to dress in the bathroom. However, this room was super cute and in a great location. You can definitely hear other suite occupants. Super clean, super charming.

Great location about 4 blocks from the ferry. The house is old, but cute, clean and well appointed. The rooms are very spacious. Great stay for the price. We would have given it 5 stars, but the mattress was abysmal. We slept horribly for 3 nights and my back is killing me. It felt like a very old soft mattress that had an even softer mattress topper on it or something. The room had lots of windows which was great, but 4 of them had no shades so that didn't help with our sleep in the morning. I would definitely come back if they spent a little money on a quality mattress, because we really liked the place.

My husband & I enjoyed our stay in the Explorer room of the Acanthus suites. It’s a house that’s been converted into several guest rooms. Everyone staying was very respectful of each other & it didn’t seem too loud other than the house being old with squeaky floors. Our room was spacious & clean. While there was no kitchen, we did have plates, utensils, a small microwave & fridge. The fridge wasn’t very cold but it was sufficient for a few items. A few suggestions for the property; blinds or curtains over the small, square windows. Every morning the sun would beam in & directly hit your eyes while in bed. I would also suggest providing a bath mat/towel outside the shower & maybe some board games/cards. There’s so much empty shelves in the room. Instructions for the tv were not in the room when we arrived but we figured it out. Probably just an overlooked item. All around we had a great stay. We were walking distance to the ferry landing & rental car companies. We spent most of our time doing water activities & visiting Orcas & Lopez. The San Juan Island Brewery was amazing & literally walking distance right behind our house. We had an amazing trip!!! Location can’t be beat!

Stayed in The Explorer's Suite. It was even more charming than the pictures! A well-cared for Craftsman house. As a bonus, the location is perfect! We could walk to everything - stores, restaurants, our whale-watching tour. I would definitely choose this place for my next stay!
