About this cottage rental
Located in Topsail Beach, this lovely cottage for $100 per night is a fantastic option for your next vacation. Hidden treasure is an island style beach cottage situated amongst beautiful old oak trees. The house is located on a quite lane about a block long that has the ocean at one end and the sound at the other. Though we are on an interior lot, it is just steps (approximately 80 yards) to either the private beach access or to the small ramp that you have access to the sound from. The cottage itself was fully renovated in 2008-- the interior was gutted and the entire space was redone. It has an open floor plan for the living and kitchen area and all areas look out to the trees. A screened porch and a rear deck can both be accessed from the main living area. A deck lines one side of the house that leads from the screened porch to the covered front porch. Sitting on the screened porch is like being in a tree house-- branches arch gracefully all around you providing a pathway for squirrels and birds to bound from one to another. You can hear the ocean most days from this spot-- it is relaxation at its best. The cottage is about 900 square feet but feels larger because of the open floor plan and raised ceiling height in the living room. The floors are tile through out-- which is easy to clean. The two bedrooms provide sleeping for four-- one has a queen bed the other has a full size. Again it is hard to describe how wonderful it feels waking up to the sound of birds and the ocean and seeing the tree branches surrounding you. Totally relaxing!! Hidden Treasure is perfect for a family getaway, a couples retreat, or girls week away.

This is a great place to stay, just off the beaten track and quiet yet yards from the beach. We had a couple of logistic issues but the owner took great care to resolve them immediately. What a great place to stay.

Beautiful location. Quiet neighborhood and friendly locals. The live oak trees surrounding the house are wonderful and the squirrels are entertaining. Most relaxing vacation we have had in a very long time. We are already planning to return.

We spent Thanksgiving at this adorable property. We loved the old oaks that surrounded the property. I even put up my hammock and enjoyed the fresh air. It was a quick walk to the beach. The owner was very responsive.

This hidden treasure was exactly what we were looking for in a beach house - a quiet street, a quick walk to the beach and a short drive to the main part of Surf City. The house was very cozy and the view of the trees was pretty amazing. The kitchen was well equipped and we were able to make dinner there with ease one night. We so enjoyed sitting on the screened in porch as well as the front "deck" looking on to the street. There were house plants throughout that made the house even more welcoming. Julie was an excellent host and quick to respond to any questions I had.
What a great beach house with such good energy! I hope we are able to return again!

This cottage is perfect. While spending time on the beach is my favorite thing to do, a close second is spending time on the lovely screened porch. The house is very clean, well-maintained and has everything needed for a wonderful stay.

This cozy cottage was the perfect place to come home to every night. Queen size bed was comfy for husband and I. Full size bed with bathroom was perfect for my two sons (10&12).
The outdoor shower was perfect for rinsing off after spending time in the sun & sand and not tracking sand upstairs.
Kitchen was well stocked and I could easily cook in dinners if we didn’t want to go back out. We were sure to bring some essentials so we didn’t need to buy them once there: laundry soap, dishwasher tabs, paper towels, a few rolls of TP- it was the perfect amount.
The outdoor/screened in porch was so relaxing for coffee in the morning and a great mid-day nap…. Always a choir of cicadas to sing you to sleep!
All in all- great, cozy, very clean, lovely. We would go back! We originally planned to bring our lab pup (1yr)but did not end up bringing her. Julie has a lot of pretty decor around that she prob would have knocked over with her wagging tail 😂 perfect for mature dogs!

I have never stayed at the beach under the trees before and it was perfect. The covered porch was fabulous to sit and enjoy an evening thunderstorm. Great beach shower. Kitchen had everything we needed - even a giant stock pot for making Frogmore stew.

My husband and I had a very relaxing time. The house was clean, very well stocked (excellent for cooking), and the bed was very comfortable. We loved the screened in porch among the live oaks, listening to the birds. The beach was close and easy to get to as was the Sound. An excellent and rejuvenating vacation for us at a lovely place. We needed a place to stay for our annual vacation after the rental we normally stay in went up by 250%! We were thrilled to find this sweet spot that accommodated our need to be close to a sound kayak launch & the beach. Both are an equidistant walk from the house. You can sit on the porch & hear the ocean, or take a stroll for less than 5 minutes & be on the beach for a gorgeous sunrise, or the sound for the vibrant sunset.
The owner is very responsive to any questions, & makes it known she is available for any issues during the stay. Thankfully we didn't have any issues, but I had some questions before arriving, such as is there a slow cooker (yes, there is!) & whether the grill is gas or charcoal (charcoal).
The outdoor living spaces make this place much larger for a 2 bedroom. The screened in porch is amazing, & I could have curled up there to read & write all week, if it weren't for the pull of the beach! Nestled amongst the trees, the temperature and amount of sun stayed perfect to sit on either porch (early Oct.).
The owner has several beach chairs behind the house, which were great to take down for surf fishing. There's also a nice area for cleaning fish.
The absolute ONLY suggestions I have are: 1) could've used more plates & bowls (there are 8 dinner plates) so we didn't have to run the dishwasher so much; and 2) the washing machine, which is much newer than my own, takes longer to finish the cycle. So just know ahead of time don't throw your clothes in the wash before you go to bed if you hope to get them in the dryer downstairs before you go to sleep. I only mention in case there's another mom out there who, at the end of the day, throws her laundry in before collapsing into bed, & as a suggestion to bring some paper plates! Simply adjust the timing of laundry & run the dishwasher more often. These are modern conveniences (the dishwasher is brand new, replaced the day before we arrived) that we can push start & step away from, so not a big deal! The slatted door from a prior review is boarded on the back, so no issues there.
A note for anyone vacationing who uses dishwashers. We have never stayed in a place where the dishwasher has any rinse aid in it. I've learned to always bring some with me!
The beds were comfy & I slept well. Open living room & kitchen allows for families to stay connected. A WONDERFUL, affordable place to stay! Julie, we are so grateful for your home & GENEROUS hospitality! We'd definitely stay here again!
