Situated in Buxton, this lovely cottage for $186 per night is a great choice for your next vacation. Fully furnished cottage on Hatteras Island including dishwasher and washer& dryer. Rents Saturday to Saturday. Ocean view. Short walk to beach on private residential street. The cottage has Wi-Fi and Roku Smart TV and other amenities. See lists for details. This cottage works well with one to two couples with children. A large group of adults may find it confining due to the bathroom space and the bedroom arrangements. House was so clean and so so close to the ocean which was perfect with three young children and the tons of toys we had to haul back and forth. We had a few days of all rain so having a nice clean house to hangout in and keep us dry was wonderful. Plenty of room. Comfy beds and couches.Two outdoor showers was very convenient. Cannot wait to stay here again and hope for better weather. Only 8 min to the nearest food lion, Dollar general right around the corner. Conners supermarket was also right around the corner and prices were surprisingly affordable! Contact with owner was very easy and friendly.
Some things to note ( owners did make us aware of this!)
We had to bring our own bed linens, towels for kitchen and bathroom use, paper products, trash bags)
Plenty of cookware, utensils, and plates/cups.
Thank you for providing a safe, comfortable, affordable place for my family. It was truly a wonderful stay!

Once again Docks did not disappoint. Ready when we arrived. New bedding & a new fridge greeted us for this stay (our 4th). They were doing beach replenishment on out beach, but it did not deter us. Already looking forward to next year. Thanks, Richard & Charles for another great vacation.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at The Docks. The home is better than advertised. Very clean, well appointed and excellent location. While we were sadly unable to use the beach access during our stay due to the beach nourishment project, it is just steps away. We will for sure be returning soon!

We had a great stay at the Docks cottage. It was very clean at check-in, and offered us everything we needed for our week long stay. The location is beautiful with a lot of interesting sites and beaches to check out close by. The view from the deck is outstanding, and the neighborhood was very quiet. We definitely plan to stay at the Docks cottage again!

Super easy process to rent and communication was great!
Great beach house for our small family. Place was clean and view was spectacular from deck. Only complaint was there was no beach. There was no place to set up due to storms wiping out beach. Hope next year will be different with the beach revitalization.

Dock’s Holiday 3
What should be our 3rd stay at Dock’s, is actually our 2nd. Hurricane Isaias had other plans for us last summer. This year was very anticipated & Dock’s did not disappoint. Richard is one of the best owners I’ve encountered. Very responsive & accommodating. The house is perfect for what we need (a roof over our heads, comfortable beds, equipped kitchen). It was clean & ready for us when we arrived. The 2 outdoor showers are great also. We used the boogie boards & beach chairs in addition to our own. The washer & dryer is always a bonus! We will definitely be back again.

Property was great location . During our stay 8/15-8/22 the air conditioner failed on Monday when we lost power for 5 mins and the house temp rose to 86 degrees . Very tough sleeping due to the heat even with ceiling fans on. Hvac guys came out on Thursday and didn’t fix the problem, they came back again Friday and said there was something wrong with the well which is causing the problem. Would have given 5 stars because everything was perfect except 5 days without A/C and listening to the kids and grandparents complaining of the heat in the house. Had to eat out for the remainder of the week because we couldn’t use the stove or oven due to the heat in the house without A/C working . Would have thought we would be compensated something for our troubles . The owners really need to upgrade the Hvac system ... Also bring a hammer many nails sticking up on the ramp to carport, I purposely did not use car port for that fear of puncturing a tire because of a nail . The owners are indeed very responsive to any and all questions , it’s a beautiful location , however they really need to start upgrading the furniture and HVAC system. Again, because of the issue with the A/c Iam giving 3stars. .... otherwise I would have given 5 ! It really is a perfect getaway except for the mishap with the A/C ...

Change of View - August 2020
This is our second time at DOCKS - this property and location is just what the Doctor Ordered for Summer Vacation 2020 ! We enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of the home and neighbor and the beach / water / waves of Diamond Shoals can not be beat! We will be back.
PS: Richard is the best owner and source for information for that area - Buxton Seafood for fresh fish and shrimp to bring back to the house for a grill was just too good we did it twice !

Great stay
Had a great stay here, thanks to Richard and his family for sharing it with us. You'd be hard-pressed to find a place closer to the beach without paying an arm and a leg. House was clean and just as advertised.
We walked along surface roads to the lighthouse from here, a bit of a hike so if you're interested in leaching the car behind, consider riding bikes instead.
Some small caveats for prospective renters:
- heavy rains take a few days to drain off the road, but this was not a problem for our old minivan.
- none of the bedrooms have windows facing the ocean, if this matters to you. Summer visitors will find it so humid that those windows will stay closed anyway.
- this property does not have an outdoor grill.

I am highly impressed with the property, it’s very close to the beach, the house was very clean, there was a missing post on porch and the owner promptly had someone fix it.
We will be coming back every year as a family tradition and hopefully rebooking here each time

Perfect stay!!
The Docks was perfect for our family’s get-away. The accommodations were comfortable, pristinely clean, and well-appointed. We were a minute walk from the beach - so close that we could quickly walk back for snacks, bathroom breaks, and equipment. The boogie boards in the laundry room were a welcomed surprise. The kitchen had all the equipment we needed to prepare meals. The outdoor showers were very convenient and used daily. The cottage is not a luxury rental, but perfect for those who want reasonable, comfortable accommodations while enjoying everything that Hatteras Island has to offer. We highly recommend the property!!

The Docks July 2020
Property manager was very good providing information and updates. Notified us when property was ready. He was quick to respond when we had a question.
We had planned on 5 adults and 3 children but ended up with only 3 adults and 1 child so we had plenty of room. If all 8 would have gone the bed situation may have been tight with the bunk bed room . Top bunk not good for little ones or for a big adult.
Other than that the place is lovely, nice equipped kitchen, older but clean living room furniture , had beach toys, chairs, great location , wonderful hot water outdoor showers which we used most of time instead of inside and fabulous deck with nice view.
We will definitely rent again!!!

The Docks- October 2019
We found the cottage perfect for our fishing trip to Buxton. The property has three bedrooms located in the lower section of the home which is where the full bath is located. Stairs up to the living/dining area where there is a half bath. There is a nice deck and you can see some of the ocean. We found everything we needed including good WiFi, TV and a washer/dryer. Overall great stay. Thank you.
