About this house rental

Situated in White Salmon, this charming house for $448 per night is a fantastic choice for your next trip. We chose to share our guest house primarily because the idea of sharing our stunning view appeals to us very much. We are so fortunate to have a view so special that we wanted to build a guest house for our friends and you! We designed our 600 square foot modern guest house with the intent of creating a very private honeymoon suite. It sits on concrete sonotubes about 18 feet up off the ground. The goal was to create a treehouse affect that evokes a visceral response as you hover above the trees looking out at the stunning views. It has expansive views of Hood River, Mt Hood, and our favorite view, looking directly down the gorge. Our guest house is accessed by a 30 foot long steel bridge. Please see letters from our guest book below in the, "Why this property". Our guest house is very private, but is located near our house, so there are some rules that it is very important that are followed. Guests may only have one vehicle. Guests must park their vehicle on the left side of main house (east side). Maximum of two people at guest house unless owner makes an exception. If you desire incredible views, modern architecture, and a very quiet location, I think you will really enjoy the experience. You are welcome to ask about staying for less than our 3 day minimum. Often there is less than three days between guests already booked, so we can send you a special booking request if you email asking for these shorter stays between existing bookings. We came up to enjoy the peace and quiet and escape the craziness of the holidays. The view is unforgettable day and night, cloudy or clear. We rented a couple of years ago and were really looking forward to being there again this weekend. It was just as incredible, and just what we needed!

Location was central to everything I wanted to do. Quick drive to White Salmon and Hood River. Tons of wine tasting, mountain biking and hiking in the area. The property itself had amazing views of the Columbia River Valley with floor to ceiling windows. Very private and very quiet. Modern amenities and decor provided a comfortable stay.

The view is everything you think it would be. The house has the best of everything. Great amenities, fully stocked kitchen, clean and welcoming. Woke up each morning to deer in the yard. The place is perfect for two.

We have never experienced such a gem of a spot. The views literally went on for miles. The place was modern and well appointed. It didn’t distract from the landscape and riverscape outside the floor to ceiling windows. I would have appreciated a hand rail on the many stairs to and from the studio. Other than that one thing, I would give it 5 stars.

Beautiful views out of every window, well equipped kitchen and spotlessly clean. Excellent location for exploring the Columbia River Gorge. Tao was very helpful with figuring out the mini split for A/C, very necessary on some sunny, unseasonably hot days and offering restaurant suggestions. There are 36 steps and long walkways, most without a handrail, so pack in small duffle bags or totes-rollaboards have to be carried most of the way.

I can't say enough about this property!! The view is out of this world, especially at sunset! The guest house is comfortable, clean, well-equipped, and within easy access to all the Hood River area has to offer. If you are considering a visit to the Hood River area, this is the place to stay. You will not regret it!! I will be recommenting this place to family and friends.

This house exceeded expectations, it's such a unique place to stay in the Hood River area. The views over the gorge are stunning, we spent hours relaxing in the chairs and watching the sunsets. It had all of the amenities that we needed in the kitchen and bathroom. Although it was very hot during our stay, the blinds helped to keep the house comfortable. It's a very private location, but the house is a short drive to restaurants in White Salmon. We hope to come back in the future.

This is a fabulous VRBO! We thoroughly enjoyed an outing each day during our stay, however, the actual "staying" part of our stay in this wonderful rental was a highlight: The view! The wildlife! The views at this property were magical. During our second night, Mt. Hood became visible, the sun glistered off the river, deer, naturally walked through the snow, we starred profoundly at everything that was in front of us. From the moment you drive up to the property, you just know it is going to be special. Tao was gracious enough to allow us to check in a little early so we could open a nice bottle of wine and enjoy the sunset (well, it was cloudy, but that doesn't change the facts). The house is equipped with everything you could need. We just felt like they really did think of every detail. The view - oh man, the view. We have travelled a lot, but we never forget how incredible the northwest is. The view of the gorge, the mountain, Hood River and the Columbia river from this property - I mean, I just isn't fair to other places :). We will definitely return to this house - we really didn't want to leave in the first place!
