About this house rental

Located in Port Clyde, this lovely house for $495 per night is a fantastic option for your next break. Diana's Dew Drop 4: Located in the fishing village of Port Clyde, Maine, this charming old cape on the coast has been beautifully renovated into two homes; a delightful mix of old and new, where proximity and privacy are equally important. The two homes are often rented together, sharing a large yard, and storage garage; but have separate parking areas and entrances on opposite sides of the house and both sides tend to be quiet. Upon arriving at the home you’ll note that it is across the street from the tiny village post office, and next door is a church, art galleries, and a playground nearby. You are just a short walk from the Port Clyde General Store, Dip Net restaurant, Squid Ink Coffee, and the Wyeth by the Water Boat Tours. You are now in the heart of our small fishing community! Warm and inviting, this cottage is equipped with all the modern touches; you’ll have that feeling of getting away from it all without having to give up any comforts of home. The well-lit kitchen has a small table by the window overlooking the water. It’s a perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee or play a game of cards. There is a larger table in the center of the room with seating for eight, a refrigerator with an ice maker and water dispenser as well as a cook stove with an oven. You’ll also find a microwave, drip coffee maker, Keurig coffee maker, toaster, dishwasher, blender, and ample kitchen gadgets for whatever you decide to create. In addition, there is plenty of counter and cupboard space. Moving off the kitchen lies the living room which has a large sectional couch, windows facing the harbor, shelves filled with books and games, two end tables, a rocking chair, and a flat-screen television with cable and a DVD/Blu-ray combo. After a day of exploring the local beaches, visiting the art galleries, and picnicking at the Marshall Point Lighthouse, this room is perfect for the family to gather, relax, and reflect on the excitement of the day. Also on the first floor is a bedroom with a queen-sized pillow-top bed, two end tables with lamps, a large dresser, and shaded windows. The warm and inviting room will put you right to sleep after a long day of exploring. In addition, the first-floor bathroom is fully equipped with a toilet, shower and bathtub, vanity sink, mirror, and laundry station with a high-efficiency washer and dryer. Heading upstairs you will find the second bedroom, which has a comfy full-sized pillow-top bed. In addition, the room has two end tables, lamps, a large dresser, and a window with a harbor view. This picture-perfect room will wake you up with a beautiful view of the Port Clyde fishing town as busy lobstermen head out for the day first thing in the morning. The next upstairs bedroom has a beautiful vanity dressing table, a full-sized bed with a pillow-top mattress, and an end table with a lamp and a dresser. This room has a private deck with Adirondack chairs to enjoy the evening air and the water view. It is also the ideal spot for a glass of wine after putting the kids to bed. Here on the second floor, there is a second bathroom, equipped with a bathtub and shower, toilet, and a vanity sink with a mirror. In addition, there is a linen closet right outside of this bathroom with good storage space for any extra towels. The final bedroom has two twin-sized beds, a shared nightstand, and a floor lamp. In addition, this room has a dressing table with a mirror, as well as a dresser. This room is perfect for those who might enjoy sharing a room for a fun sleepover. Outside, there is a large, shared lawn that expands down to the water's edge and a fire pit with eight Adirondack chairs – perfect for evening cocktails and sunsets. While listening to the sights and sounds of the ocean with a glass of wine makes for the perfect space to reflect on your day of exploring the local beach, visiting the galleries, and picnicking at the Marshall Point Lighthouse, the space is ideal for relaxing and reflecting on the excitement of the day. During the day you’ll have lots of fun playing some of the games provided such as ladder ball, bocce ball, lawn darts, or bean bag toss, to name a few! Though there is much space for alone time and privacy, the property is a shared lot meaning there could be two separate parties sharing the lawn at the same time as it is a non-traditional duplex. Another thing to keep in mind; Co-op Road is sometimes busy with trucks running up and down before daylight as the lobstermen hurry into work. It is not uncommon to hear trucks on the road at 3 am. In addition, the playground across Co-op Road often attracts some of the local kids creating a bustling public space with some competitive basketball games. This communal area just right next to the house is perfect for younger kids. In addition, the property overlooks the working waterfront and can be a place of a lot of activity and entertainment in the summertime. Within walking distance to the heart of Port Clyde, you'll enjoy great views all around, while visiting the Village Ice Cream for dessert, the General Store for groceries or supplies, The Dip Net for an incredible meal, Squid Ink Coffee for your favorite pastry or brew, a tour of the Maine Wyeth Gallery, or an informative Wyeth by Water lobster boat tour! We truly have something for everyone! We also have three churches located in the Port Clyde area: Port Clyde Christian Church, Port Clyde Baptist Church, and Ridge Church. For your convenience, we have provided initial supplies of the following: linens, bath towels, washcloths, hand towels, and beach towels. Your first tank of propane for the gas grill and fire pit, dish soap, hand soap, laundry detergent, toilet paper, paper towels, basic cable, wireless internet, and a home phone (long distance is not included) are all complimentary. While we make every effort to assure the accuracy of this listing, as well as the condition of equipment and quality of provided services, we make no implied guarantee of connectivity for wireless internet or services provided by a third party. That being said, we will do everything in our power to remedy any situation as quickly as possible, and we thank you for your understanding. Here are some things you should know about visiting Maine: Cell phones: Although coverage is getting better, there are some places where cell phones don't have good reception. Chances are you will have service, but just in case, make sure you leave the number of the house you are renting with those who may need to get in touch with you. Coverage with AT&T can be spotty in many areas of Maine. Weather: If you have heard it once, you've heard it a hundred times: if you don't like the weather in New England, wait a minute. It can be hot in Rockland and cool in Port Clyde so make sure to pack a variety of clothes — from a bathing suit for hot days to a sweater for cool evenings. Check out the current local weather at www.weather.com. Bugs: A lot of people ask us if we have mosquitoes...we sure do. But they aren't huge and they don't ruin a vacation. Bring some repellent, or pick some up at the local general stores and you will be fine; usually, you won't even notice them. Dogs: We love dogs around here, but each town has its own rules about pets. Make sure to look for signs stating if dogs are allowed and always have them on a leash. If they leave behind anything, please pick it up, it's not a fun surprise when you are exploring the beautiful shoreline. You can also be fined for not picking up after your four-legged friend. Unwanted animals: You probably have them too, but raccoons and skunks can make you regret last night's lobster dinner. No one wants to pick up old, smelly shells that have been cast out onto the lawn by these cute, but curious and disastrously messy, little guys. So please don't put off placing the trash in the secure trashcans provided. Water: Dew Drop is on town water. The water has been tested and is safe to drink, but some guests prefer bringing bottled water. Particulates, discoloration, and iron taste are not uncommon. Dew Drop 4 is a Saturday to Saturday rental year-round! This unit is a non-traditional duplex. The duplex has two units, number 2 and number 4. The numbers are for how many bedrooms are in each unit. You will also find all of this information in the welcome book!

Love Dew Drop 4!

We just finished our 2nd visit to Dew Drop 4 and were every bit as charmed with it as we were last year. The location is fantastic: It’s an easy walk to a well stocked general store (including liquor!), a lovely little coffee shop, two restaurants and an ice cream parlor. We also walked several times to a great little sandy beach -- there are plenty of beach chairs available with the house. And there’s even a bit of night life at the Barn a few nights a week. The best part about this location is the large lawn on a cove facing west for glorious sunsets. However, amenities and location matter little unless the property management is prompt and responsive. Veronika exceeded my expectation with every inquiry. We has a minor appliance issue that was resolved early the next morning. Another call for extra coffee cups had more delivered within a couple of hours. She responded to any question I posed almost before I’d logged off. Kudos to the whole team!

Dew Drop 3 is situated in a small working cove and is only steps away from all that Port Clyde has to offer - the Monhegan ferry, kayaking, a coffee shop, general store, several places to dine, a terrific beach and of course the Marshall Point Lighthouse. While several of our party had to work (and the internet was strong and dependable) others biked, walked, kayaked, or sat on the large west facing lawn reading or just enjoying the breeze. Need to get away? Walk 2 minutes down the hill to the harbor, a great cuppa, and breakfast. The property was clean and ready for us when we arrived. We called twice for some minor repairs, and the handyman was there within just a few minutes. The appliances are easy to use and adequate for a holiday stay. Since we dined in for usually 2 out of 3 meals per day, we recommended that the management add cups and glasses, and I have no doubt that will occur, given the attentiveness of the property manager. This is a duplex, but the entrances were well planned to give each party privacy, and the exterior gathering spaces were far enough apart so that we didn't feel like we were encroaching on the other tenant's privacy. As another reviewer mentioned, the house is on a road with a fishing co-op just down the road, so there are cars and trucks driving by day and night. There is also a well-loved playground across the street for anyone bringing kids. Did I mention that this is pet friendly? Our city dogs had a blast chasing each other around our favorite sunset perch - the 8 Adirondack chairs facing the cove. We enjoyed our stay so much that we've booked again for next year. That's the true test of any review!
