Nestled in Central Lake, this lovely house for $264 per night is a fantastic choice for your next break. Book now for all seasons! This is truly a year-round home, with plenty of activities nearby all year. In the summer, enjoy everything lakeside living has to offer! In the fall, enjoy the colors on the lake and in nearby towns and country roads. Visit local wineries, breweries, meaderies, and distilleries on the Torch Lake Tour. Go apple and pumpkin picking at King Orchards (they have what seems like miles of Honey Crisp trees for u-pick!) There are plenty of local trails for hiking and biking in the spring, summer, and fall and cross-country skiing in the winter. We are 15 minutes from Shanty Creek and half an hour from Schuss Mountain and Boyne Mountain for skiing and tubing in the winter! There is a fire-pit outside and a wood-burning stove inside. The lower level floors are also heated in the winter. We also aim to update the decor for each season, including a Christmas tree and decorations. The Flying Fish is a family friendly, fully equipped 4 bedroom, 2 bath home on the hidden gem, all sports, Intermediate Lake. Bring your clothes and start the relaxation! We have thought of everything. Boat enthusiasts can dock right at the house. We provide kayaks and an adult and child-sized paddle-board to enjoy the lake, beach toys, yard games, hammock and fire pit outside. Foosball table, board games, puzzles, Netflix, Hulu, Apple TV, Amazon fire stick, wifi, PS3 and XBox One, each with several games, for indoor fun on rainy days. Fully stocked and newly remodeled kitchen (spring 2024) with gourmet items including Kitchen Aid mixer, blenders, waffle maker, crockpot etc. Located within walking distance to grocery, restaurants, bar, and boat rental. Explore the Upper Chain of Lakes from the front yard or travel down the street for Torch Lake and the entire Lower Chain of Lakes. Central Lake is located approximately 10 minutes from Bellaire, 30 minutes from Charlevoix , 45 minutes from Traverse City and Petoskey, and around 1 1/2 hours to Mackinaw City or the Sleeping Bear Dunes. A week at the Flying Fish offers plenty of relaxation and fun at the beach and on the lake, as well as a chance to explore all that northern Michigan has to offer.

This was a perfect place for our family to gather and spend time playing games and enjoying nature. The house has a nice gathering area around a big kitchen overlooking the lake and many comfy beds. Everyone loved it.

We had a great week staying here. It is nicely located so that Traverse City and Petosky are easy drives. A relatively short 90 minute drive has you in the parking lot for the ferry to Mackinac Island.
The cabin itself is beautifully located with a nice lawn leading to the lake. It is very spacious and nicely laid out with two bedrooms having views of the lake. The kitchen is well stocked with most any utensil you may need and there was a good supply of everyday condiments and household/bath necessities that you may need. There are lots of games downstairs and the large kitchen table was great for family game night.
Outside in the yard there is a nice bonfire pit that we made use of (probably best to buy dry wood from somewhere) and despite it being October our daughters even took one of the kayaks out on the lake for good while.
The only hitch we had was being able to reach Angela after we booked but that was a VRBO issue and not an Angela issue, lol. After we finally got in touch with her, communication was very good.

Women's kayak group stayed for a long weekend of kayaking. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare our potluck dinner, and this home is comfy and cozy. The location is great! Our first day we traveled to St Clair Lake to launch, kayaked through Six Mile Lake and back; very beautiful. Second day we planned to launch from the beach, but it was too rainy, windy and cold for any kayaking. But there's plenty to do in the area. Some went hiking, some went shopping and beachcombing, some just exploring. When I got back to the house after a long day beachcombing in the rain and wind, I got a warm fire burning in the wood stove in the great room, sipped my tea and looked out at Intermediate lake from my comfy perch on the sofa.. We'll definitely come back!

What a perfect location!!!
The cabin was very roomy plenty of room for my family. The beds were very comfortable they provided sheets and towels.....Loved the sheets!
Best part we were able to bring our tritoon and tie up at the dock. They have a wonderful sandy beach where we could sit with our feet in the water and watch the sunsets. They also provide kayaks, paddle boards and life jackets.
My family had a wonderful time, and we will definitely be back next year!!

We had a nice stay at this property. Convenient location, sand beach was nice with a rake to clean up the lake debris, all the y out ya you’ll need, and lots of sleeping options. We had two under 3 with us downstairs, and the other adults upstairs. Worked well! Two fridges for groceries and drinks.
One situation we had was lots of wasps from the apple trees in each corner of the property. These apples would also surprise you as they fell into the porch. Certainly a seasonal condition. This didn’t impact anytime at the beach but you needed to be sure footed closer to the house.

This property was very spacious and well-equipped. We had hours of fun in the water and on the sand, and we especially enjoyed the kayaks and paddleboards. We ate most of our meals on the deck with the beautiful lake view. The foosball table was a nice bonus for the kids in the evenings. We had a great stay and would love to return!

The Flying Fish was a great find on Intermediate Lake. Angela was quick to respond and very helpful. Great location on lake, and loved the view. Cottage /house was very clean and everything stated on site. Enjoyed kayaks, corn hole, fooseball, fire pit and deck along with everything else available! Would stay again!

The flying fish exceeded our expectations over and above! My family had a great time! We skied, tubed, went fishing, went Kayaking had sunset boat rides and had a fire every night. Angela was easy to communicate with and answered any questions that we had. Would highly recommend this place. We are hoping to come back next year!

Great house and experience
We just stayed for 2 days, visiting our parents but it was a great house. Very spacious, lots of beds for all of our kids. The owner responded and communicated quickly, if I had a question. The house was clean, well stocked and perfect for our quiet weekend.

This home accommodated our 3 generation family very well. We had rain 2 1/2 days but there were games and things to do that kept all of us busy.
The town, Central Lake was close and we enjoyed the stores and Fudgees for ice cream. Thank you Angela, you were a great host.

A Little Piece of Heaven!
The Flying Fish was the perfect place for a family vacation! Our week stay was everything we hoped it would be! Our family included 6 adults and five children ranging in age from 9 years old to 10 months. Sound daunting? The Flying Fish accommodated us beautifully with plenty of space for us all.
It’s evident that a lot of thought went into outfitting this home. It was very nicely & comfortably furnished, had lots of fun decorative touches, was clean throughout and had many wonderful amenities. The entertainment area in the lower level provided great options for rainy days with cable, XBox 360 and Wii, as well as a nice selection of DVDs. Importantly, the beds were all very comfortable! The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals. (The two refrigerators were especially helpful!) There was ample seating at meal times, both indoors and out. The provision of a pack & play, bed rails, & a booster seat were all much appreciated as well. And…everything was in good working condition! Unlike some previous experiences we’ve had, I can’t think of a thing we needed that wasn’t provided.
The lake and beach were perfect, especially for our little ones. The children loved fishing off the end of the dock, as well as having “jumping contests” into the lake and building in the sand. There was plenty of beach chairs, beach toys for the kids, plus paddle boards and two 2-person kayaks. Had the kids had their way, we would have never left the beach! But they also enjoyed browsing through “Bachmanns” in Central Lake, gathering Petoskey stones in Lake Michigan and picking 9 pounds of cherries at King’s Orchard in a record-breaking 7 minutes!
Top of MY list? Playing with our grandkids, sitting on the deck enjoying coffee in the morning and beautiful sunsets over the lake at dusk, and most of all, having a wonderful place to make fresh memories with the people I love best!

Family Time
The Flying Fish combines great accommodations with a great location for a nice “up north” experience. We enjoyed the the large grassy yard and sandy beach for hours of outdoor activities. We brought up our pontoon boat and spent hours out on the lake . The boat launch was just across the lake and we were able to tie up to the dock at the house.....loved it! The house is very spacious for a large group and has most everything you need so the living was easy. Having two refrigerators was a definitely a bonus. We made use of the kayaks and paddle boards out on the water as well as the indoor board games for some very competitive evening challenges. Loved the location with Central Lakes town just around the corner and the close proximity to Traverse City, Petoskey, Charlevoix and great golf courses. Thanks Angela for helping us have a great family vacation!

Good location, nice beach
We very much enjoyed our time at The Flying Fish. The dock and beach area was perfect for the kids and everyone enjoyed the kayaks and standup paddleboard’s. We were a little disappointed in the cleanliness of the property, quality of the sheets/bedding and wet soggy backyard, but we didn’t let it get us down. 4th of July fireworks from the dock were amazing. Thanks for a great week.

Another great stay
This was our second time staying at the Flying Fish and we had a fantastic visit. Angela made a few small improvements (more washcloths and hand towels, new door and lock, and a great new coat of paint to the house) since our last visit that were appreciated. We rented a pontoon boat for a day again at Bedell's Crossing (only short walk, kayak ride, or <5 minute drive away). This year we also rented a jet ski from Vacation Water Sports that they deliver to the lake for no extra charge. Overall we had a terrific visit and hope to return here again in the future. This is a perfect rental for large or small groups and especially for families with kids. Angela has the cottage well stocked with virtually everything you need if you have a baby or toddler (baby gate, booster seat, pack-n-play, etc.).

Large but cozy retreat ready for a peaceful getaway or a family gathering
Flying Fish is a delightful gem! One step inside this clean and updated home, you’ll see many windows and doors open onto a view of the lake (that never gets old!). You also realize the owners have thought of everything: the unique long bench just inside the door, hooks, benches and mirrors in every room, a fully stocked kitchen, comfortable new furniture (inside & out) and extensive entertainment options. You’ll also find fun touches throughout, such as a wall mounted bottle opener ( it works!), wood headboards and skis on the wall.
The second living space is cool and would be ideal if we had another family or our kids with us. We didn’t detect the typical lower level smell you’ll find in many waterfront homes.
After driving down the idyllic pine needle covered driveway, sitting on the expansive quiet deck or spending time on the sandy beach, you’d never believe a grocery store, marina, old fashioned 5 & dime, pizza or ice cream shop are only a few minutes drive away .... but they are! You’ll also find good restaurants, bars and dessert options nearby (check out Short’s, Mammoth Distillery and Ruthann’s Bakery). There is much to do in the area- we enjoy Barnes State Park for swimming in Lake Michigan or just walking along the shore.
Flying Fish is an inviting home where you can truly relax and get comfortable. The owner, Angela, is terrific- communication is easy and fast. She emailed helpful specifics about the property, but was also happy to answer my questions.

Perfect Multi Family Getaway
Our family had such a great time at the Flying Fish. I booked it for other family members and they were very impressed and no one wanted to leave. The house is spacious with two living areas and we really appreciated the two fridges. The location was great, we went to Shanty Creek Resort for skiing and tubing easily and Bellaire for lunch.
