About this cottage rental
Located in Huron, this charming cottage for $525 per night is a fantastic option for your next trip. Welcome! Lakeside Cottage is a new (2021) architect-designed 2800 sq.ft. five-bedroom, three-and-a-half bath pet-friendly home located 15 minutes from Cedar Point on the south shore of Lake Erie less than 5 minutes off of State Route 2. The features of the house are unmatched, including its location less than 40’ from the water’s edge and a second floor deck with panoramic views across the water. The open floor plan offers views of the lake from the back of the house to the front. The kitchen, dining room, pool table area, bar, breakfast alcove and living room all flow together and participate in the dramatic lake view. A second level gallery space with central stairway leads to bedrooms, laundry room and deck.. Sleeping quarters include one bedroom on the first floor and four more bedrooms on the second floor. There is also a business center, with desk, HP printer, paper and large monitor that can be connected to your laptop. (an HDMI cable comes out of the screen with a converter to mini display port cable added to that.) The house is decorated throughout with nautical flags, celebrating the language of the sea and the close connection of the cottage to the water. Simply designed on the outside to blend into its historic neighborhood, the inside is dramatic yet extremely functional. It focuses on views of the lake, user convenience and personal comfort in an atmosphere enhancing its unique nautical environment. Amenities include a tankless water heating system to provide a continuous supply of hot water to the showers and washer, a kitchen with all-new appliances directly adjacent to the dining area and bamboo flooring throughout the ground floor. The bedrooms include two larger lakefront rooms with queen beds, water views and direct access to the deck. They feature their own wall-mounted Smart TVs and lounge chairs. Two rear bedrooms, complete the upstairs; one with three twin beds and the other with one twin and one twin-over-full bunk bed. The convenient ground floor bedroom has two twin beds. In addition, the open plan ground floor contains three fold-out sofas that convert to twin beds and an available twin-size inflatable mattress. For convenience, the house is designed so that no bedroom is more than 11’ from a bathroom and no bedroom shares a wall with another bedroom. Besides disinfectant hand soap, the shower and bath facilities are provided with body wash, shampoo and conditioner, though visitors are welcome to supply their own. Outdoor amenities include a ground-level lakefront outdoor deck with grill, umbrella and lounge seating along with access privileges to two nearby private beaches. A convenient outdoor shower is provided to remove sand after a day at the beach. The site can accommodate four cars with regular parking and up to six cars with tandem parking. Last but not least: your dogs are VERY welcome! (Note that reviews of the property before 2021 year are for an earlier house on the site along with a temporary replacement house in the summer of 2019 and that both have both been replaced by this new structure)

House was a perfect and safe getaway for 6 adults and 3 kids and 2 dogs! Lots of beds and bathrooms and a fully stocked kitchen. The views were spectacular. House is as it appears in the pictures. Very easy communication with Heather and Ted. Highly recommend this home!!! We had the best time. Our only suggestion would be some more deck furniture to enjoy the amazing view. I wouldn’t hesitate to book this home again.

The view is outstanding! I loved falling asleep looking at and listening to the water. The house is clean and not cluttered. The beds are comfortable and the pool table was great for games with our teens. The location allows for easy trips into town- we found a yummy taco place and brought food home one night. The kitchen could benefit from more mixing bowls and baking trays. If there is something specific you want to cook you may want to bring the cookware needed with you. Permanent neighbor to the right has several dogs so if you bring yours- like we did- expect some friendly barking to ensue. Communication with the property manager over a slight issue was handled promptly.

Perfect house for group of 7 friends and our 3 canine best friends! Great location and close proximity to dog park, pickleball courts and restaurants (in that order). Very spacious, clean and plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms. Viewing the lake sunrises and sunsets were an extra bonus for all of us!! Definitely will be back!! Thank you!

There are many benefits to be had from this property, but I would have to say that S P A C I O U S N E S S is the first word that comes to my mind. The layout IS MADE FOR large groups. After settling in on the shores of beautiful Lake Erie, you will immediately feel the calming affect being on the water has on you. Ted, the property owner, is a great host and Heather, his property manager, lives right next door to the property. She is right there to help you with all of your needs and questions. Our group is already planning next year's stay. Thanks Ted and Heather!

This lake house was perfect for our two-family group plus dog. Lots of room to spread out, clean and bright with spectacular views of the lake upstairs and down. I especially appreciated the mud room area just by the front door where everyone could leave their shoes and beach stuff out of the way of the main living space. Kid and teens loved having the pool table!

Lake Front house
Great location for all Sandusky area attractions plus a beautiful view of the Lake and Cedar Point. Sunrise and Sunset very nice. Could have done without the political statement posted on the house next door but easy to ignore that.
The interior was great. Nice lay out with plenty of bathrooms and bedrooms. A great view of the lake from the spacious main living room area and bar.

The house is very spacious. The layout is well thought out and you have separate spaces even though it's an open floor layout which was great for our blended family holiday. They also had great extras for pets and thought through the kids needs. The check in was great and the view was amazing.

There were significant cracks in the living room ceiling. Additionally, there were bugs all over the windows and the outside of the house was covered in bugs and cobwebs. We had reserved the house for a week but left after a few days because we were so uncomfortable. We will not ever return and cannot recommend this property.

We found this property as a halfway point to meet friends with our kids. This house was the perfect spot- beautiful views, updated & clean. Perfectly kid-friendly and spacious living spaces. A playground and small beach just a minutes walk away was a hit with the kids, even in the chilly weather. A definite gem of a house!

This house was half way for us to meet up with some friends. We had a few babies/kids with us and the house was great for that. Very clean. Each family had their own room which was spacious (enough to fit a pack and play). A lot of restaurants in the area that we were able to order out from, however, the house also had a beautiful fully stocked kitchen if you prefer to cook.
One thing to note if you are coming in the wintertime: the driveway is off of a small road that was not plowed. We just so happen to be there on a weekend that got a lot of snow. The main streets were plowed but the one leading to the driveway was not. We had an SUV that was able to get through, but there were multiple cars that got stuck the weekend we were there.

AMAZINGLY QUIET
Bedrooms do not share a wall - so it is amazingly quiet. The electric fireplace was wonderful - we enjoyed it each day after watching the boats going by as we sat on the patio.
We look forward to staying again.

Good stay, potential to be great
The location of the house was perfect - it's right on the water with a private concrete patio area to enjoy the sunsets. The neighborhood has two small private beaches, one with a basketball court, playground, and pier, and one that is much quieter for real beach time that are each a 3 minute walk, which was a huge bonus. The house is brand new and while the spaces are well designed, there are still some kinks to work out as with any new rental. We had to raise a couple of issues throughout the week to the property manager, but he was very responsive despite living somewhere else and the issues were handled quickly. It was a great, safe getaway during COVID and we were happy to spend time together on the lake.

Was a wonderful place to stay. Our family and pets enjoyed this great property so much. It had a lovely view of the lake and met all our needs. Would not hesitate to rent this property in the future.
