About this house rental

Located in Chief Lake, this lovely house for $460 per night is a fantastic choice for your next break. Our cherished lake home is located on a point on Chief Lake, former residence of the World Record Musky (now residing on a wall at the Moccasin Bar 17 miles away in Hayward, Wisconsin). The home has a beautiful wood floor in the main living area and cedar paneling throughout. It has three bedrooms for moms and dads and a large cedar paneled "bunk room" with four single beds and room to play on the far end. Kids can play loud without disturbing their parents on the other end. All appliance are like new and a 50 inch smart TV with Direct TV service provides entertainment along with my old stereo from college that will plug into an iPhone. Kids and dogs play in a 1 3/4 acre wooded yard. A 30 foot sand beach and two docks make for great swimming and lounging in the sunshine. Also, there's plenty of room for hitching boats large and small. The Flowage is among the more famous fisheries in this part of the country. The annual Musky Hunt tournament takes place September 7- 9, 2017. Walleye, crappies, large and smallmouth bass and northern pike are also favorites throughout the Flowage. Many particularly serious fisherman come from far and wide to ply their skills. Dining is available by boat at two nearby locations and more places throughout the 17,000 acre Chippewa Flowage. Touring the 300 miles of shoreline and nine lakes that form the Flowage includes a walk beneath a blue-heron rookery; a walk on one of several floating islands populated with tall trees; having a picnic on a sandy beach on one of the dozens of islands; visiting the dam that forms the Flowage and many other interesting sights. Campsites are available first-come-first-serve on islands throughout the Flowage. Best of all, 95% of the Flowage remains in its natural state, undeveloped. Bald eagles, beavers, bears, otters and even an occasional wolf are often seen. The World Lumberjack Championship happens in Hayward each year (July 20-22, 2017) and the Lumberjack Bowl puts on performances all summer long. Just down the road fram Hayward is the famous Cranberry Festival in Stone Lake (Oct. 5-20, 2017). And Hayward is also the site of one of the world's great cross-country ski races, the Birkebeiner, next coming up Jan. 14, 2018. The 4th of July is an American classic that includes baseball, picnics, amusement rides and ends in a dazzling fireworks display. But most special of all for Hayward is its very own annual Musky Fest (June 23-25, 2017) when main street overflows with fun activities. There is no end to all the things for families to do in the Hayward area.

This was our 2nd time staying at this location on Chief Lake. The home is perfect for 2 families. The only issue this time was the 4 twin beds in the kids room had uncomfortable mattresses. A couple of the kids slept on the couches instead because of the twin mattresses not being great for sleeping on. Hopefully that will be updated before we would return again next summer!

The property is amazing. Easy access for elderly into and out of the cabin, docks were great for our fishing boats and pontoon rental, the cabin was spacious- we had 10 people and we didn’t feel like we were on top of one another and the view was breathtaking. We did lots of fishing - catching bluegills, crappies, and muskys. The views of Chief Lake are breathtaking. The property manager, Barbara, was fabulous - she called to check in with us upon arrival and towards the end of the week again to see how everything was going. This is a property we will definitely rent again.

OMG we caught our limit every day of various panfish which we were fishing for. Also caught northern pikes, walleye and bass. It’s the best fishing we ever had there ! This is our fourth stay at this property so obviously we love it. We have stayed at various properties but they weren’t near as comfortable as this one. The furniture , including beds, are so comfortable. It had cable, Netflix etc. It sits on a point on Chief Lake with gorgeous views of the bay and the flowage . The lot is massive with two very nice docks with a bench on each one. There is a boat lift available and plenty of parking space at the large dock. The view is breathtaking from the living room. We had goslings , eagles, loons, and herons in abundance. The kitchen is the best stocked kitchen we have ever had. There is a Keurig fyi. Barbara the property manager is so pleasant and really does a great job in making sure your stay is comfortable . She is available for any questions you may have . There’s plenty of room for large groups yet cozy enough just for the two of us. The A/C works great . It was so nice to walk into a cool place after driving from Omaha, Nebraska . There’s a screen porch a little rough looking but it has a large table and chairs to sit and relax on. It was great for our fishing gear . For any future guests bring yard guard and lots of big repellant. The mosquitos are bad this year because last year’s crop never froze out. Thank you Scott for sharing your beautiful property !

The first impression of the property was 'deferred maintenance' and 'deferred upgrades'. However, our stay ended up being a wonderful vacation with friends. The kitchen lacks for nothing, the beds were comfortable, and the lake views truly spectacular. Barb was great to work with!

This is our fourth stay here so obviously we love this property. It sits on a huge lot, on a point of Chief Lake. The lot size is truly incredible providing views and privacy . We enjoyed the two docks and had plenty of room for our boat. The fishing was slow but we still had a great time. We had pileated woodpeckers, loons and eagles all over. The cabin is very comfortable and the kitchen is truly well stocked with every utensil or pan you would need to cook meals. So many places have skimpy kitchens . Not this one. There weren’t any spices , oil or anything left from other guests but we knew that and brought what we needed. The king beds are super comfortable with nice linens. It was so nice having a washer and dryer in cabin so we didn’t have to pack sp much. Our only disappointment was the yard wasn’t mowed and we had mice. We couldn’t find any traps so we bought some and set them out. We caught 4 mice but didn’t see any more after that. This is our first time seeing mice. We had plastic buckets to seal our food in but unfortunately had to toss everything when we first discovered the mice. We left stuff out on counters that the mice got into. Barbara, the property manager is wonderful. She was very willing to get the mouse traps but since we were in town we did it. Overall this cabin is wonderful. The outside just needs some care. The windows are not able to be opened in the living room and kitchen . We really missed being able to get the breeze in. The yard should have been mowed for our arrival and some old citronella candles tossed out that were laying by screen porch. The door to screen porch needs replaced as well but the inside of porch was good. Nice big table on porch and two tables inside to dine on. We saw a canoe but didn’t use it . Overall a wonderful property with a great lot and super location. Chief lake lodge is very close to launch a boat. We already booked our stay for next year because the summer is filling up fast. Thank you Scott for sharing your place.!!
