Located in Michigan City, this charming house for $349 per night is a great option for your next break. Bedrooms 6 | Bathrooms 3 | Sleeps 16 On the edge of Indiana Dunes National Park, in the acclaimed Beachwalk resort community on Lake Michigan, just one hour from Chicago, this house ('Moondance') and its perfect central location is a Beachwalk favorite. Unique among Beachwalk homes, Moondance has an open floor plan with a stunning cathedral ceiling perfect for hosting large family gatherings. Don't be fooled by new construction homes on tiny lots that provide sleeping space for many but provide virtually no living space--Moondance is huge and located on a large lot, with plenty of room to gather the family or friends, including a fabulous custom fire pit to gather the clan for marshmallow roasts. Moondance has a fully stocked kitchen with granite counters and glass tile backsplash along with all new stainless-steel appliances. A large great room has seating for everyone, and porches and decks galore mean gathering spaces for the whole family, plus privacy when you want it. Indoor dining space for 16. Outdoor dining for another 16, plus a special outdoor kid's table that seats 8. Bedrooms (including both ground floor and second floor masters) with all the right touches will suit couples, children, grandparents and last-minute visitors. Moondance even comes complete with its own custom painted house golf cart (except in winter) for your use and enjoyment! Recently, Moondance' owners worked hard to finish the 1,000 square foot basement, which is now a playful rec room complete with 46-inch flat panel Tv, DVD player, and DirecTV with whole house DVR (there are five Tv's total in the house), and a multi-colored striped floor that kids love. (NOTE: The basement has 6 -foot ceilings, and thus is ideal for kids or for watching movies, but it is not habitable space by code and thus it cannot be used for sleeping.) In addition, Moondance is steps to everything Beachwalk has to offer community private pool, private tennis, basketball, and beach volleyball courts, a short walk to Beachwalk's own Lake Kai complete with free kayaks and stand-up paddle boards during the summer, custom sandcastle playground and, of course, Lake Michigan's most beautiful beach. Unlike many rental homes, the owners of Moondance put much of the rental income they receive into upgrading and improving the property each year. For example, this past off season the owners invested in all new furniture for the great room, including three new couches, and added a second full refrigerator (if you are like us, you arrive with a week's worth of food and need somewhere to put it!), and replaced all the deck handrails for increased safety. This house has everything you could possibly want. You will not regret it. Peak Season (June-August) Friday-Friday rentals only. Peak Season $12 per person/per week wristband fee charged by the Homeowners Association for use of pool charged on-site upon arrival. RESORT AMENITIES AND INFO * indicates a seasonal amenity. 4ft heated pool*, toddler pool*, basketball court*, tennis court, bocce ball court, shuffleboard*, Sandcastle playground, putting green, paddle boarding* and kayaking*, catch and release fishing. Parking Passes ($5 each) and Wristbands ($15 each) are required for all guests ages 4 and up mid-May through September. Moondance rents with a 7-night minimum with check-in and check-out on Friday during peak season (mid-June to mid-August).

This is our 3rd trip to Beachwalk for the Labor Day weekend, and the 3rd house we stayed in. The resort itself is great, so much to do! The house this weekend was a little outdated, the stove didn't have a knob for one of the burners, dirty diapers and trash were left in two of our rooms, and the house could have used a good cleaning (baseboards and corners in the bathroom specifically). Overall the house had more than enough space for our group of 13, and the outdoor areas were great.

This was our first time at Beachwalk and it was exactly what we were looking for. Plenty to do for all ages. Our house accommodated our family perfectly and the location was great. The house cleanliness could have been better. We had little ones crawling and they would have black hands and knees after crawling on floor and rug. Housekeeping came to wash the floors which helped. We hesitated to turn the ceiling fans on as they were covered in thick dust and the dryer would not dry the clothing/towels even after cleaning the filter as the vent appeared to be dirty and full. Other than these issues, we loved Beachwalk and can’t wait to come back.

An amazing time with my sons and great friends in Beachwalk. We loved the Music In The Park, fishing, the beach and the wonderful dinners made on the grill. Beautiful home with board games and laughter into the night. Can’t wait to stay again next year.

The house was a great size for the 11 of us including 4 kids. Plenty of places to gather with all the porches and indoor space. The golf cart was a big hit, too. Large kitchen and lots of cookware, plates, etc...Baking sheets need replacing-very burnt. Carpet needs replacing as it is very dirty. Kids’ feet were filthy after a short time. Mattresses in queen room with twin could use replacing. Sheets and towels were not the quality you would expect for the price of the rental. House was generally clean but I had to wipe down doors, handles and stair banisters. Location was excellent! We love the area and would possibly come back to Moondance.

Had a great time. Kids loved the pool, and paddle boards and kayaks ! Only draw back was difficulty climbing up sand dune from beach, carrying children, beach chairs and coolers. This is quite a challenge. Stairs would be very helpful. They have stairs at the outer banks. Would recommend ,however ,would warn of difficult climb from beach.

With the exception of last year, we have been going to Michigan City for a number of years for our annual family reunion. We have been extremely happy about the houses rented including this one. My one exception was the thermostat. It was the most complicated thermostat ever!!!!!! We were uncomfortable all weekend!!!! If you want something that complicated, please provide specific instructions on how to set. The beds were also rather hard and thus difficult to sleep on.

New board walk and lovely expanded beach area was a real plus with beach chairs on the beach. The welcome staff are very helpful and pleasant to work with.

We love this neighborhood and area but our experience with this house wasn’t great. We arrived about 50 min after the 4pm check in time but housekeeping was still inside working on the property. They asked us drive around and give them a few minutes to finish up. We did this but they were still there when we returned. We decided to just head in since we had groceries in the car. The floor was soaking wet and they were still running around finishing for another 15 minutes afterwards. We also had to call housekeeping back after they left because we found unwashed bedding, uncleaned refrigerators, etc. Thank goodness we had ordered pizza too because the oven was set to clean for 2.5 hours so we wouldn’t have been able to use it. This all made our arrival very unpleasant and stressful. In addition to the unpleasant arrival the house had dust hanging from the ceiling and covered the white trim throughout the house. The carpet was dirty and stained. The exterior needs a paint job. The outdoor furniture cushions were also very dirty and stained, some even had black mold on them. All of the outdoor furniture and areas were in need of power washing and/or replacement. We didn’t use them because they felt dirty, unclean and unwelcoming. Cabinet doors didn’t shut right, we had a toilet with an issue during our stay & the dryer didn’t dry things well. Overall it was a disappointment to everyone in our group. We feel the owner needs to do a deep cleaning, the current situation is not something any guest should be walking in to. We stayed at a different rental the year before and our experience was so much better!! I really hope some changes are made because this home could be a really beautiful place to stay.

We went in July with 12 family members (including 5 children) and the house was large enough for all of us. We loved the front porch and the kitchen is very large with lots of equipment. A couple of the beds were uncomfortable. The golf cart was a big hit! Very close to the pool which we loved. Having 2 refrigerators was a bonus. Beautiful home! Highly recommend. A great place for the family to go. We went to the zoo and the outlet mall which were very close by. The kids fished off the pier and we went to Lake Michigan which was a short walk. Went into town and ate at a few places. Nice little close town.
