About this cottage rental
Situated in Kill Devil Hills, this attractive cottage for $185 per night is a great choice for your next trip. This "Beach Box" cottage has one of the best locations in Kill Devil Hills for close and convenient access to the beach, grocery stores, drug stores, shopping and restaurants. It is literally right in the middle of the OBX, and it's only a 2 minute walk straight to the beach. It is an owner managed, very clean, 3 bedroom, 2 bath, single story, 'Smoke Free' beach cottage located in Kill Devil Hills, NC at Mile Post 9 just 2 lots back from the Beach Road. During the peak summer weeks we rent by the week only - from Sunday to Sunday. During the off season the cottage is available on a nightly basis with a 3 night minimum. Feel free to contact Dean at any time if you have questions about renting this cottage for your vacation. KEY NOTES 1) Each year we keep making improvements to the property to give our tenants a well maintained home for their summer vacation. I)This past Spring we installed a new washer and dryer, new carpeting throughout the living areas, some new living room furniture and built an upgraded outdoor shower. II) This winter...we completely rebuilt both decks with new composite decking and all vinyl railing 2) Linens and Towels - As of 3/22/22...we are now providing linens and towel service with all stays regardless of duration. Both Queen Beds will be made with clean linens before you arrive. The twin beds will have clean linens placed on the beds for your use. 3) Reservation Duration - During the spring and fall seasons we accept part week reservations with a 3 night minimum. During the peak summer season (June - July - August) we accept weekly reservations only - from Sunday to Sunday. OTHER PROPERTY DETAILS 1) The Kitchen is fully stocked with all the appliances, kitchenware and utensils you will ever need during your vacation. 2) The Living Area includes comfortable seating for 7 with a 40” smart HDTV, with streaming video via Youtube TV and Netflix, and a Blue-Ray DVD player with a library of videos. 3) The Master Bedroom suite includes a queen sized bed, HDTV, and a full sized bath with tiled floor and walk-in tiled shower 4) The two hall bedrooms have a queen sized bed in one and a set of bunk beds and twin bed in the other. Both now have 32" HDTV's with streaming video via YoutubeTV on each. 5) The hall bathroom is full sized with a tiled floor and tub/shower combination with tiled walls 6) The house comes with either wired or wireless internet and streaming video TV as described above. 7) The first level deck in the back of the house includes a cozy two person swing, Adirondack chairs, a custom picnic table, a gas grill and an under drain system to keep the deck dry so you can have an outdoor picnic on a rainy day 8) The second level deck in the back of the house provides a view of the ocean and plenty of lounge chairs for relaxing or sunbathing 9) The ground floor under the cottage provides ample room for off street parking, a second picnic table, garden hoses and anew custom outdoor shower. LOCATION The walk to the beach is just 2 minutes straight out the font door to the beach. When you arrive at the beach on Martin Street you will find ample parking (if needed), public showers, a port-o-john toilet, and a life guard stand. Within walking distance of the cottage you will find two drug stores (CVS & Walgreens), 6 restaurants (Dare Devils Pizza, The Bonzer Shack, Food Dudes, 5 Guys, JK’s Steakhouse, and Fuji Steak House) and 17th street surf shop. Within a 3 minute drive you will find 3 grocery stores, Sunsations (for all your beach supplies), and Duck Donuts (a favorite stop of all visitors to the OBX) Keywords: Cottage, House, Owner Managed

We liked what we saw on the VRBO site and were very happy when we saw our choice. Dean was quick to reply to our questions and on our arrival gave us a dining recommendation that was great. Location was perfect, we went north one day and south the other days. Everything in the home worked and we had no problems there. We had plenty of room for the 4 of us to have nice, comfortable space. Very close to see the sunrise. We could definitely rent this again.

The house met all of our needs and it was so hard to leave yesterday. The 2 minute walk to the beach is exactly correct. Also walkable to many restaurants and the all important CVS. What struck me as different from every other beach house is the cleanliness of the outdoor areas (decks, carport, outside shower, outside storage closet). There was not a single cobweb or spider web to be found. Complete comfort using the outdoor areas. I will definitely stay here again.

They house was perfect, clean, functioning and goodness it’s just like the pictures! It was a short walk to the beach and surrounding areas in walking distance. The property owner was so nice and even gave a few websites to enhance our stay with rentals and activities. I would definitely recommend and be back! Thank you so much!

We had a great stay! Everything was accurately described and checking in was a breeze. The owner is very responsive and really nice so that was very appreciated. Also, he did a nice job with the colors and decorations he chose, and it made you feel like you were at the beach. We loved the outdoor deck and enjoyed eating dinner outside. Also, my favorite spot on the deck was the swing! :). Another plus was the outdoor shower. It looked great and I truly enjoyed using it. All in all, it was the perfect beach getaway. I would stay here again!

This house was perfect for us. It was located in walking distance to the beach and restaurants. The communication with the host was on point. The house was, on the surface, clean but the decor pillows on the bed were stained as were the sheets. The coffee pot was filthy and the inside of the drawers were in need of a good cleaning. Loved the patio. We spent most of our time out there. Would def stay again.

This house was perfection!!! It was clean, comfortable, well setup, and in a great location. We walked 2 mins to the beach every day (we saw dolphins while at the beach 3 days in a row). Places to eat and ice cream are in walking distance. Nice quiet neighborhood. The decks were amazing, nice place to eat and relax. The outdoor shower was clean and super convenient with 3 kids. This was definitely one of our favorite vacations and it all centered around the perfect vacation house.

Myself and my three friends stayed here for a week in July and had the most wonderful time! The beach access can't be beat, and we had everything we needed to be comfortable, from towels and blankets to the blender and toaster oven! The cottage was clean and beautifully decorated! We spoke with a family from another rental site who had a terrible experience, and we couldn't say enough good things about ours- so happy to have found this rental!!

When I say this is the perfect house I literally mean it. My family of 6 adults stayed here for a blissful 7 days. It is a 90 second walk from the door to a beautiful beach that goes for miles either way you look. There are two full bathrooms in the house and a fully functioning super clean waterfall head outdoor shower downstairs in the driveway / covered garage area. LOOOOVEEE. There is also a 3/4 wrap around AMAZINGLY PEACEFUL deck with a swing chair I couldnt move myself from in the morning and the night with coffee and a book. AND THEN you also have another upper private super sunning deck. This is such a great house in the most perfect location - out the front door is not only the beach but a family bar and grill, a pizza place, cvs, walgreens, and starbucks all in walking distance. I cannot wait to go back.

We looked for an owner managed property for this trip, which was myself and spouse, two elementary age daughters and my mom. It was clear that this house is a home, little details that show it's well cared for (and has been beautifully updated and decorated) and it's set up for living in: washer and dryer, extra towels, night lights, plenty of blankets and pillows, a laundry basket, spices and paper towels in the kitchen. We thoroughly appreciated the details that Dean included in this house. The outdoor spaces were easy to use, loved the outdoor table and the easy chairs. We walked to the beach every day, one street to cross at a crosswalk to the public access: it REALLY is two minutes to the beach. We drove to many other sites, including Hatteras and Manteo, easy to access anything we wanted to do. Especially convenient for Wright Brothers memorial and Jockey's Ridge!
Thank you for being easy to reach (we loved not needing to carry a key with the style of lock you've installed) but also setting everything up so that we didn't have to reach you! We will look for this listing again when we return to KDH.

This is our third time staying at this beach cottage. The cottage is clean and has everything you need. The communication from Dean was wonderful. The cottage is in a great location with a short easy walk to the beach and a few restaurants/ice cream. The outdoor shower made cleaning our 4 kids off after a trip to the beach really easy. Our favorite part of the home is the nice covered porch with a swing and several chairs and large table. It’s perfect for relaxing anytime of day. Thank you for a great stay!

This property is small but was plenty of room for the 4 of us. The outside decks r nice. Property seems in good repair. They don’t provide a lot of the little “extras” other places do. It’s a great location. The only complaint I have is cleanliness. It was clean, but not quite as clean as other places I’ve stayed. It wasn’t enough to deter me from staying here again. Just think cleaners could b a bit more thorough.

Stopped for a few days on a road trip with the family. The house had everything you needed. Very cozy, but a lot of space to enjoy the outdoors. Lucky we had nice weather and got a chance to enjoy the deck. Also perfect location to visit Kitty Hawk, Corolla, Duck and Nags head which are right up Virginia Dare. Many great restaurants near by and a few walking distance. The beach entrance is a 5 min walk from the front door and very quiet spot.

Great property in a perfect location for tweens/teens. We were able to walk to rent bikes for the week and use the bikes for the week instead of drive. One block from the beach, and close to restaurants, shopping and site seeing locations.
The house is charming and we loved our time on the back porch and upper deck. We look forward to coming back!

Everything you need close to the shore and activities. We had such a blast for our first visit to OBX. We enjoyed local sightseeing (Bodie lighthouse, Wright brothers, Jockey Ridge) and had fun at the beach with chairs, kites, etc. We cooked our own lobster and relaxed on the deck/patio. Such a wonderful space and location!

We loved this property. It was so close to the beach and the owners were so organized in giving us the information we needed. The deck of this house is so welcoming and you’re close to so many fun things. It was nice to have beach items readily available. My only suggestion would be to bring extra beach towels as there are only 4 there.

This home was clean and bright! The deck was the perfect evening hang out and the top deck was great for sunbathing while others napped!
The walk to the beach is super short and easy, and the location is directly in the middle of everything you need! Love that the home offers everything you need, just bring yourself!

My family and I have stayed at many different timeshares and vacation rental properties in the last 20 years. Dean's house in Kill Devil Hills was definitely one of he best. The house was clean, comfortable and well-equipped. Even on vacation my wife loves to cook and she said the kitchen was the best stocked she has ever seen in a rental property. One thing I noticed was an abundance of plates, bowls and cutlery. This helps when you have a large group, so you don't have to constantly rewash the four forks and spoons that you sometimes get in other rentals. From beach towels, gas grill, beach chairs, to washer and dryer this house has it all. Another thing I loved was up-to-date powerstrips in each bedroom and in the living room. I'm a tech guy and having modern powerstrips with standard AC outlets, USB A and USB C connectors was great! The outside shower is gorgeous and was great to clean the sand off after a day at the beach. The house is a three minute walk to the beach and close to a wide variety of shopping and restaurants. Dean was very responsive to messages and always willing to help. We stayed in Duck last year but there was so much traffic on Route 12 (a two-lane road) that it took too long to get to the places we wanted to go. There's traffic in Kill Devil Hills but the roads are larger and you can get off of 158 and take some of the smaller streets if necessary. If you want a great time at the beach rent this house now!

This is now the 3rd or 4th time we’ve stayed at deans place! And we’d recommend it to anyone! The updates that have been made at the house are awesome, they new deck was a wonderful surprise as I remember getting a splinter last time. The outdoor shower was SO AMAZING everyone in my party utilized it! Location as always cannot be beaten. Dean emailed me early in the day to let us know we could have early check in. And everything was seamless!
Only change I would make is that the beds aren’t as comfortable as I remember, but I could just be spoiled.

This is the perfect beach home in the center of OBX, located in Kill Devil Hills! Just a quick walk to the beach, excellent local restaurants within walking distance or a bike ride away, house had a beach themed decor, kitchen had all the cookware and gadgets, comfy beds, awesome covered porch where we ate all our meals, perfect napping swing, top deck perfect for soaking up the sun during the day and star gazing at night!! House came with ALL the beach equipment you would need, complete with chairs, umbrella and cooler! This is by far the best rental home for a small family !! Owner was so quick in communication. I can’t say anything negative about this perfect beach getaway!! Looking forward to another visit!
