Situated in Pacific Grove, this attractive house for $250 per night is a fantastic option for your next trip. The Ocean View Retreat has fantastic ocean views. It is only a few steps away from the ocean and golf course. Watch and hear the crashing waves as you sit back and relax. Looking out the front window or sitting on the front porch you may see dolphins, sea otters, seals, grey whales, killer whales, pelicans, sea gulls and even deer. Our profusion of wildlife, trees and wildflowers are a few of our many treasures. The sunset and sunrise views are spectacular against the ocean waves. Across the street are sandy beaches and tide pool areas; a great place to watch the sailboats go by and breath in the clean, fresh ocean air. The home has breath taking ocean front views from the living room, front bedroom, dining room and kitchen. There are partial ocean views from the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms. Nearby and just a walk or bike ride away is Asilomar Beach and Lover's Point. The walking path is right across the street. Whether a morning’s jog or a relaxing walk, this path leads you along the ocean view. Kayaks and bike rentals are close by. Point Pinos, the oldest continuously operating light house is just around the corner and within walking distance. Downtown Pacific Grove with its quaint shops and restaurants is only a short bike ride or car ride away. If you are a golfer, you can bring your golf clubs and walk to the club house. The driving range is just around the corner if you just feel like hitting golf balls. The Monterey Peninsula has a spectacular choice of golf courses in the area. This cozy home is approximately 1,500 square feet with 3 bedrooms and 1.5 baths. One bedroom has a 1/2 bath. Each room has been tastefully decorated for your comfort. Comfy mattresses, soft blankets and cozy sheets help drift you off to sleep. The living room is provides space to relax with a book, talk, or watch a DVD from our library on the large hi definition television with surround sound. Or turn it off and listen to a CD or music stations on the TV. Curl up with a cozy throw blanket, turn on the gas burning fireplace and you have the perfect place for relaxation and peace. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything to make an exquisite meal or a simple snack. Sitting at the dinning table you have views of the ocean and large backyard. Enjoy sitting at the teak picnic table while cooking that perfect meal on the gas bar b que in the large backyard. Fun, tropical place settings especially for the outdoors, adds to the ambiance along with a large dolphin fountain and backyard. We spent 7 weeks at the property during winter 2022. The location was so amazing that we extended our original contract for an additional 3 weeks. The bed was comfortable. We used the front bedroom and the ambient light from the neighbors was noticeable but neither my wife nor I were troubled by it. The heat was adequate and reliable - we live in Vermont and are accustomed to being warm indoors and we were in Pacific Grove.
I would be negligent if I didn't note a couple small problems. A drawer or two under the counter were damaged and the kitchen faucet is really in need of repair or replacement it is impossible to easily adjust the handle for a warm temperature (either very hot or cold). Otherwise, the kitchen is well equipped. Were neither of these repaired we would rent this place again in a heartbeat... and we tried.
Evelyn was helpful with questions we posed and when we lost a key her local contact had a replacement for us the next day. Terrific response.
Finally, did I mention location? The coastal walking path passes in front of the house and you can walk well into the beginning of the 17 mile drive shoreline. Had you the ambition, I imagine you could manage an 8 or 10 mile walk if you started near the Aquarium in Monterey, out and back.
The sea, surge and swell, and smashing waves and weather, and Whimbrels and Oyster Catchers, every bit, entrancing beauty. Remember.

Downtown Pacific Grove offers you many choices for eating and shopping. Hop in your car and tour the scenic 17-mile drive through Pebble Beach, drive down Highway 1 to Big Sur. The activities are endless and easy to navigate…and close!

This is a very good rental for those folks looking for great views, wonderful walking trails, and space for outdoor relaxing and gear storage. It's right across the street from the ocean and while lots of traffic on weekends, the surf really hides that. We could store our kayaks and bikes and still park the vehicle in the garage. It's about a 20-30 min walk to downtown & restaurants which for us was fine (particularly during Covid times). Fully equipped kitchen (we cooked Thanksgiving dinner there) and had most everything you could want.

Perfect location!
The house is in the perfect location with a view of the ocean, cypress trees and waves breaking on rocks right across the street. The layout of the house was perfect for our group and we enjoyed breakfast with a view every morning!

We loved this beach house
We really enjoyed this beach house. It was chilly the days we were there and sitting near the fireplace with a view of the ocean was quite lovely. Yes, the road is between you and the ocean, but that is true all along this stretch of coast. It's really lovely. The location is fabulous. Walk across the street and you are on the little path that lets you walk along the ocean in either direction.
We also quite enjoyed the large backyard with it's purple pride of madeira plants in full bloom (April, but they stay in bloom a long time).
If you are a person who is bothered by light, be aware that the front room is very close to the road and the shades are (thankfully, IMHO) not darkening shades, so you do experience car lights in the room from time to time at night. There is not a lot of traffic at night, but it's non-zero. We're good sleepers so it wasn't an issue for us, but if you're a light sleeper or one for whom the coming/going of light is a problem, you might want to sleep in the back bedroom. On the other hand...the front bedroom has the best ocean view, and the Buddha!
The house is comfortable, well appointed, and right at the beach. It has parking for 2 cars (one in garage, one in driveway) and beach chairs you can use. It's really a lovely beach house!!

Enjoyed our stay in this lovely ocean front home. Great view of the waves from the entire living room and dining room area. We enjoyed walks along the ocean every morning. Lots of restaurants and golf near by. Our family enjoyed a very relaxing weekend here.

Great place and location
Great house with a great location! My wife and I and our three kids loved it. Great for families. My 3 year old girl had fun with the toys that were provided. My 8 and 11 year old boys liked exploring the beach right across the street. The house had everything we needed and was very clean and comfortable. Great location for not only Monterey but also Carmel. Would definitely stay here again!

Loved the location right across the road from the ocean! Pacific grove is a lovely town and close to the start of 17 mile drive (highly recommend!) and Cannery Row. The house was darling! Beds/pillows weren’t great, but the living room and kitchen were comfortable. The bathroom could use an update, but worked just fine. Everything was clean. Owner was easy to work with and responds quickly. The neighbors don’t keep the lights off at night like the rules call for and so shine into one of the bedrooms, but that’s not the owners fault.
Overall, enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

Exceptional beach home with an unbeatable view.
We absolutely loved our stay at Evelyn's home. The home is exceptionally well maintained and the views are breathtaking. Evelyn provided everything we might need during our visit including luxury bathrobes, individual beach bags with beach towels, beach equipment, and a large cooler. We loved walking across the street to the ocean and sitting on the front porch to drink in the view with our morning coffee. I look forward to an opportunity to return.

Stayed for a long weekend in this well-appointed house, and could not be happier! True to the photos, you are directly across the street from the ocean, just steps from some of the most spectacular coast anywhere! There is a nice downtown area a couple minutes away with great dining options and a decent market. Monterey attractions just another few minutes down the road. Evelyn was very responsive to questions, and everything went smoothly. Highly recommend this home and host!

Amazing ocean front house
This is the most amazing of ocean front place! Views from all of the common areas and even from the backyard you can look through the house to the ocean. The house is well laid out with 3 bedrooms and very comfortable accommodations. For kids, the place was wonderful with toys to play with and a large patio in the back for kids to run on. And across the street are beautiful tide pools.
It is very close to walk to Asilomar beach. I would love to come back!! Thank you!!!

Location Location Location!
Warm and inviting mid century home with spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean! We came up for my daughters Big Sur marathon run and were treated to a home that allowed us to feel "right at home" . Comfortable and casual, well stocked with everything you and your family will need to enjoy the beach, take a bike ride or just lounge around. Next time we plan a trip to the Monterey/Pacific Grove area this will be the place we choose to stay! Thanks to Evelyn for opening up her wonderful home.. Enjoy!
