About this house rental

Located in Saint George Island, this charming house for $422 per night is a great option for your next trip. "The Sandy Bucket" is a perfect oasis for your family or for two families. The Sandy Bucket in our house refers not only to the sand toy but also to our sandy "bottoms"! Our kiddos call their bottom their "bucket" so the name has a double meaning to us! We are pet-friendly, less than 100 yds to the beach with private beach access path, panoramic ocean views, and no road to cross when walking to the beach. Our home has been completely renovated. Brand new kitchen appliances, countertops, large single basin 10" deep stainless steel sink with tall pull out faucet, new washer/dryer, all new bathrooms (tile, vanities, tubs, toilets, etc), new luxury vinyl tile flooring throughout the house, new paint & furniture (new mattresses, couch, chairs, etc). Also, a brand new HVAC system and tankless hot water heater so you will never run out of hot water!! A new 19 foot deep deck completes the renovations. The house is 1.5 miles to the State Park entrance and 2.5 miles to the lighthouse, grocery store, and restaurants so it's in the perfect location to bike or run in either direction on the bike path that runs along the entire island! The lots on the East End are each 1 acre so there is more privacy and the beaches are quieter, which we love! There are 3 bedrooms. The Master Bedroom has its own private bath, smart Tv, ceiling fan and french doors onto the deck. The second king bedroom has a smart TV and french doors onto the deck as well. The bunk room has one twin over twin bunk bed and one twin over full bed. A Roll-away cot is also in closet so the bunk room can sleep 6 kids. The dining table seats up to 8 people with the table leaf. There are three bar-stools at the kitchen counter for additional seating. The living room has a very large comfy sectional along with two cushioned chairs. Large flat screen Smart TV, books and games. No regular cable at the house; you’ll have to log into your own Netflix, YouTube TV, Hulu, Amazon Prime, etc to watch TV and movies. There is an hot and cold water outdoor shower under the house with both a shower head and hose to wash toys and dogs off. Parking for several cars under the house as well. Free wifi. We have one security camera on the driveway and stairs for security reasons. When you arrive, you will be supplied with a starter kit (soap, toilet paper, etc).

The place is a great location to the beach and easy to find on the island… close to everything! Small place with lots of room… 3 bedrooms, and plenty of beds for many! We just had a bad experience upon arrival but the owner was prompt to communicate and actively daily to help with what she could… I had never experienced this in all my vacation rentals… but we live and learned … we will always look to see NO Pets allowed next time considering a rental… but April was easy to communicate with and helpful… as I know the arrival of the place wasn’t her fault… as she only oversees managing the property and didn’t cause the problem! We did enjoy our time at the beach with wonderful family fellowship and even traveled Indian Pass Raw Bar , a short trip of 38 minutes away from the island for some amazing seafood, my husband fished, and we ate our share of ice cream!

For the price per night this is a great property. The house is roomy and perfect for two couples or one family. Short walk and you are on the beach. The owners are really nice, too and their communication from booking to check out is really helpful. Happy Beaching(:

We really enjoyed our stay at Sandy Bucket! Communication with property owners was great! It was a perfect distance to the beach, easy walk. We loved the outdoor shower as it was the best! We all had enough space. The open floor plan was nice for our large group.

Great location and easy walk to the beach. House had the minimum for what you need to stay and nothing extra, it would have been nice to have some beach supplies for this beach house since it’s a pain to have to travel with beach chairs, toys, umbrellas, etc. Bathrooms need a little TLC, showers don’t drain well and shower heads aren’t great. Kitchen is really small, but had a great large sink. Beds were comfortable and the kids loved the bunk room. Porch and view were very nice!

The house was perfect for my husband, me, and our little dog. It was an easy walk to the beach. Neighbors were quiet. We love the East End of the Island. Loved the screened porch and the big open wood deck. We will rent this one again.

This beach cottage was amazing!! You are much closer to the water than the pictures indicate. The beach was nearly empty and was so close we walked it at least once a day. There are restaurants on the island and cute shops. And only a few minutes from Appalachicola. Would definitely go again!

We spent 3 weeks at the Sandy Bucket to get away from the Michigan winter. It was perfect. In the quieter part of the island, which is relative given it’s a quiet island to begin with. Even though it’s not on the beach, we had a beautiful view of the ocean and could hear the waves from the house. And only about a 100 steps to the beach via a private path. The house was tastefully decorated, well equipped and comfortable. The owner April was very responsive and helpful. We loved our stay!

Our family had an amazing time while staying at The Sandy Bucket. The listing and photos were accurate and communication with the owner was easy. The location of The Sandy Bucket on the island was perfect for us and the walk to the beach was short enough that no kids complained! This home was perfect for our family. The property has a path to the beach, which was a 3 minute walk. The kitchen has everything needed to prepare meals. Bed and bath layout is great for a family or even two family trip. There are several eating spaces indoors, on the deck or screened porch. Outdoor shower was nice for rinsing off after beach days. I’d definitely considering renting this home again.

Check-in was simple. I never contacted the owner for anything. Location to the beach was wonderful. Sunrise and sunsets on the deck were beautiful. Beds were comfy. Bathrooms were remodeled and clean. Water pressure was awesome. Kitchen had everything we needed. If I could change anything I would : 1. Have privacy curtains for the french doors in each bed room. 2. Have TVs in all of the bedrooms so people can space out and chill at the end of an amazing day at the beach. 3. Have a cover option for the sky light in the master bedroom. We knew going in it was there...but the full moon was so bright it was like someone was putting a spot light thru the window. I would stay here again. I'd just bring a sleeping eye mask, and hope they install privacy curtains.

We loved the deck, screened-in porch, outdoor shower, very comfortable chairs on deck and porch and ample comfortable seating in living area. Had a bit of A/C problems due to lightning storm but the owners were on top of it and got it resolved in record time. Will stay here again!!
