Situated in Buxton, this attractive condo for $165 per night is a great choice for your next vacation. Welcome to Buxton Cottage – The antithesis of modern day Hatteras Island. Come enjoy this 1950’s beach cottage fully renovated with all the modern amenities. This two bedroom, one bath getaway will cater to all your needs. Relax at the heart of the island. Buxton is centrally located between all of the best spots to kiteboard, wind surf, fish, beach access, surf, paddleboard, walk, hike, and bike. Just a few minute's drive to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and beaches. You can walk to the Lighthouse beaches, and restaurants. Everything is within walking or biking distance. Just 1.8 miles from one of the premier kiteboarding locations, Kite Point. Buxton Cottage is 10 lots in from the Atlantic Ocean. Walk to the ocean and enjoy your morning cup of coffee while watching the sunrise... Then, on a southwest wind day, enjoy 6.8 miles down winder from Kite Point to North Avon pull out. Or even further if you’d like! We are sure this beach cottage will meet all your getaway needs! This is a triplex building (3 units) and The Maiden is located upstairs with a flight of stairs to the front door. The Maiden has two bedrooms, one bath, kitchen fully equipped, TV, internet, Wi-Fi, all linens are provided (4 bath towels and each bed has 1 set of sheets), complimentary items such as one roll of toilet paper, coffee filters and trash bags. Puzzles, cards. Parking and outside seating on the balcony. It is perfect for 2-3 people. However, maximum number is 4. This unit does not have a washer / dryer. IMPORTANT: Perfect for 2-3 people. Maximum occupancy of 4 people is strictly enforced. Buxton Cottage is NOT to be used for group events or gatherings. SMOKING IS NOT PERMITTED. Failure to comply will result in eviction without a refund. The Maiden was the perfect location for our first stay at OBX. Perfect size with 2 bedrooms and a living room/kitchen area. Outdoor shower was perfect for coming home from the beach. And location location location. A literal two minute walk down the street and you are on the beach! Would definitely recommend this place!

We loved that this cute little apartment, perfect for the 4 of us, and located just a couple hundred feet away from the beach!
Our host was incredibly wonderful to work with.
A few comments for improvement - the front left kitchen stove burner doesn't work, we were supplied with 4 toilet paper rolls, not the advertised 1, and we didn't have enough bathroom hand soap for the week. The kitchen would also benefit from having a cutting board.
Overall, wonderful cute place. If we're ever in the area again, we'd choose your apartment!

Could see the ocean from the one bedroom window. We walked right down the street to the beach, which was amazing. People were surfing, fishing, swimming, playing with dogs, driving right on the beach. (Not a lifeguarded beach, but for swimming the sandbar gave us plenty of security.) The outdoor shower was really convenient. We could walk to breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks. Good sound insulation, never once heard the neighbors. But if we were outside they all made sure to say hello, very friendly neighborhood. It was our first time in OBX and we really liked everything about our stay. We hope to stay here again.

The three of us enjoyed our stay and everything could not have been any better.
We fished from the beach at the end of the street and drove out to Hatteras point when weather permitted.

The cottage is clean and quiet, in a lovely village with nice places to eat and shop. I found everything I needed and wanted very close by. The setting reminded me of childhood visits to the beach in the 1950s and 60s. It was a delightful week of solitude and walking on the beach. The VRBO experience couldn't have been better. The only thing good I can say about the property is that the bed was somewhat comfortable and the water was hot. The coffee pot which was no less than '60's era, had a totally rusted heat plate which I had to clean before it was used. The sofa was old porch furniture which was totally uncomfortable. No end tables/nowhere to put a drink, etc. The burners on the 50/60's era stove were all crooked. The only table had 2 stools which were so tall and hard they were hard to sit on, so we didn't...we ate off our laps. We also had to wash some of the dishes before they were used - lipstick on a cup. Outside, the street was totally flooded the whole time we were there, so you had to walk in the yards to get to the beach, which was nice. For the money wouldn't recommend and will not stay again.

The place was wonderful and close to everything in Hatteras. It had an outside shower to get the sand off and cute gallery kitchen. The only suggestion I could make is to put blackout blinds in the rooms. The sun woke us up about 6 am every morning. It would have been nice to sleep in on vacation a couple of days. 😉
