Ryan, Bourbon and Cider were excellent hosts. The property and views were incredible!

Dreaming of Prefumo Canyon and the views that it gifted to us. Stay here if these experiences are important to you:
-Natural beauty
-comfortable bed
-Peace and quiet
-good water pressure and hot water
-One of the most beautiful views we have stayed at in all our travels (top 5 for sure)
Will hopefully stay here again in the future when we move back to CA. Ryan was helpful, open and very kind. Bourbon and Cider made the whole experience that much better.

What a lovely place! Created by the owner and two great dogs. The home has everything we could want in the kitchen and the beds were fabulous. The shower was amazing! We would gladly come again

We spent Thanksgiving here and had an amazing time! Cooked a full Thanksgiving meal and had EVERYTHING we needed in the kitchen. Seeing Morro Rock with our morning coffee was exactly what we all needed! Ryan, along with Bourbon and Cider, met us when we arrived, dogs in tow. Ryan welcomed us and let us know that “dogs come first” and he truly meant it. When we let him know we were leaving for a few hours, he even offered to come and check on our puppies. We felt right at home and were able to relax and truly count our blessings.

The first thing you see is the incredible views from this property. You see almost no other homes, only beautiful hills and Morro Bay in the distance. There is a lovely deck with a table and chairs that we didn't take full advantage of due to the chilly weather. The apartment has two nice bedrooms, a large, well appointed bathroom and a very nice kitchen with every utensil you might need. The furniture is sleek and modern but not very comfortable. My husband found the bed comfortable but I did not as it is solid foam/ no coils or springs. The pillows are all king size and too large. I would recommend replacing them with standard size pillows. The owner and his two dogs are charming and I would recommend this property for your stay in spite of the foam mattress!

The place is tucked away in the hills with incredible views and a very remote feeling. Ryan was great, he has such cute dogs and was helpful with little staple we forgot to grab at the store. If he can help you with what you need, he will. The place is definitely more like 20-25 minutes from town but for sure a great find. Also the bathroom is epic.

Great views from this property. We loved our stay and have already recommended to others.

Although this isn't a traditional VRBO, which would be renting the entire property, the owner who lives upstairs and the people that rented the other floor of the house were basically not seen and were rarely heard. The two labradors are frequent visitors to the front door, but in an endearing way. The place is very clean and functional. You cannot beat the uninterrupted view of a sweeping landscape nor the stars in the night skies. As long as you don't mind not having the property to yourself this is an excellent spot.

It's called Vista house for a reason. The views are fantastic! Ryan was a great host and very easy to communicate with throughout the weekend when needed. While it's off the beaten track a bit, it is totally worth the effort. Still just 15-20 mins to all of the surrounding areas. Peaceful and quiet. Would definitely stay again.

This is our second time here and we still love this vacation rental! From the awesome location overlooking Morro Bay, to the clean and well equipped home, and to the caring attention we received from Ryan the owner, our stay was nothing short of great! If you are looking for a quiet retreat within a short drive to the various beach cities and SLO, we recommend the Vista House!

We had a great stay, very quiet and pieceful, just what we needed. Host was great, very attentive but gave us space.

This little getaway is exactly what we needed. It's pup friendly and Bourbon and Cider did so good with our 8 month old puppy! Great view, amazing property, great accommodations! Ryan was super attentive and made the experience lovely!
10/10 will be staying here again!

I had the central coast of California on my wish list a long time. I had looked at this special spot to rent long ago & saved it. I finally made it to Vista House! Ryan the owner, provided tips for the area & showed concern for my well being. He resolved our small issues immediately. It’s nice to have a reliable host. The ambiance of this space was fantastic. Very clean, which is a top priority for me. Others stayed in the nearby unit only 1 night of my stay, & I never heard them.
I enjoyed SLO, Morro Bay, Pismo Beach & Avila Beach while staying here, with a little detour to Santa Ynez on my way home.
My favorite things about this place: Gorgeous view, beautiful spacious 2 bedroom home, with 2 friendly, adorable Golden Retrievers next door, Bourbon & Cider (who visit daily), 2 chickens (with ability to feed them & collect fresh eggs which I took much joy in), & a 13 year old tortoise named Walter who clearly loved visitors (& lettuce😉). A special place! I only wish the garden will be brought back to life! Maybe by my next trip it will be, or maybe it’s seasonal. My 2 little dogs Belle & Blaze felt welcome, loved the patio & looking out the windows from the couch.
I was grateful for this little piece of paradise & already shared the listing with all of my friends.

Ryan and his two amazing goldens greeted us warmly and even brought us a basket of freshly laid eggs on the morning ( very sweet) . We were moving my son to cal poly and this was a very comfortable and well appointed home to come back to and relax . Great views and rain shower that can fit 10 people ( no joke)! Would definitely recommend.

This place had the most amazing view that overlooked prefumo canyon. The place was well kept and had a nice deck you could enjoy the view from! The check in process was very easy as well! We really enjoyed our time here and would definitely stay again.

Nothing beats this view ! Ryan the host couldn’t be nicer. The apartment is private and nicely designed and the mountains are dreamy. Definitely returning.

The view was insane. We spent most of our stay outdoors on the beautiful patio taking in the scenery. Ryan was great and super friendly. He brought us fresh eggs in the morning from his chickens but also gave us plenty of privacy. Cider and Bourbon were lovely too.

Ryan's place was incredible. The house was just as described. The property is up in the hills between SLO and Avila which makes it perfect for watching the sunset. It is secluded from the surrounding towns which makes it a quiet and peaceful place. The house had everything needed for your stay... towels, soap, shampoo, pots, pans, BBQ, etc. The kids enjoyed seeing Cider and Bourbon at the door to greet them in the morning.

The host was great and so helpful. The views were outstanding and changed every hour. The eggs from the chickens were the best i have ever tasted. We went there to relax and were not disappointed. Great experience.

Our stay at Vista House was above and beyond what we expected. The house was beautiful and equipped with everything we needed for our stay. Best of all everything was clean, clean, clean! Ryan, Bourbon and Cider were the best hosts! Ryan was very communicative and friendly.

Just a getaway for my partner and I, this property was ideal. Great views, everything we needed and some extra experiences made our stay feel so right. Ryan is an excellent host. Bourbon, Cider, turtle and chickens were all lovely.

This is a great property, with a great owner, and an obviously great view! Unfortunately the weather didn't quite work out for my stay, so I was not able to enjoy the view in all its glory.
The property has everything you would need for a great stay, and we especially loved playing with Bourbon and Cider! Ryan was a great host and very responsive to any questions that we had. We will definitely look at staying here again on our next trip to SLO!

Ryan, Bourbon & Cider are friendly hosts making our stay a joy. Vista House commands an incredible, unique view. There are thoughtful comforts such as coffee beans to grind for a lovely cup of coffee, and, fresh eggs from the chickens that live in a large coop on the property. We enjoyed our stay.

Vista House is an incredible place to stay. From the booking, check-in to the goodbye and check out, Ryan is the quintessential host along with his co-hosts Bourbon and Cider (two beautiful Goldens). The location is beautiful with a view of the Irish Hills and Morro Rock, and it was lovely to relax with a good book and coffee in the morning and a glass of wine in the evening. Ryan brought up fresh eggs from the chickens in the morning and we cooked and enjoyed a yummy meal. The kitchen had all the necessary equipment and more (appliances, pans, utensils, several different coffee makers, etc.). The bathroom/shower is like a spa, and the mattresses are so comfortable. So many amenities, but my favorites were Bourbon and Cider. They are so friendly and loving, and are eager to play with you, but not pushy. I look forward to visiting again, but for longer in the future.

The property descriptions is a bit misleading in that it describes “8 acres of land”, but in actuality there is not that big of an open dog play area. There is a restricted sign that prevents exploring further onto the property, and with two very big dogs plus a puppy, they just didn’t have the legroom that we were hoping for. The fact that the very first suggestion made was to travel 9 miles to go to a dog friendly beach nearby was the first indicator that this was not going to be what we were hoping for, as the whole point was to have a place where the dogs could play nearby without having to drive. The roads are so narrow and not super safe for walking with the cars that come by way too fast, so we checked out early to leave and find somewhere else that was better suited for a dog vacation. In addition, there were dog droppings over much of the “play area” and we got tired of cleaning up after other people. Also, wasn’t clear that this was an attached dwelling, and that we would have other people staying on property, with their dogs, and with very thin walls we could hear conversation over our heads until late into the night. So over all, while it is great to find a place that was willing to accept three dogs, it just didn’t meet the expectations that had been set by the description. My fault for booking a place with only one picture. That has been my warning flag in the past and the dog welcome perk was big enough for me to ignore the lack of photos.

Stayed during Mother's Day weekend. My husband and I brought my mother to visit our daughter at Cal Poly. We relaxed on the patio and really enjoyed the scenery. We cooked our meal in a fully equipped kitchen, including sharp knives! Fresh eggs in morning. A quiet peaceful retreat.

We look for a property with an amazing view, comfortable beds, and a peaceful & relaxing atmosphere. An additional bonus with this property are the extremely friendly, well behaved, and playful golden retrievers, Cider and Bourbon. Love those dogs! The views are incredible! We will be back…

Above the clouds, surrounded by beautiful green hills, with the sounds of crickets, frogs and wild turkeys - and a view of the sea and Morro Rock. What else could you ask for. The kitchen had everything we needed; and a better than usual offering of condiments and basic pantry items. We loved the daily fresh eggs too. Our dogs were comfortable and they enjoyed their stay too. Thank you Ryan, Bourbon and Cider.

For a weekend visit to SLO to see our student son The Vista House made a great venue to see new and old friends and family. From the Whiskey and Cider welcoming party to our hosts efforts to make our stay carefree, the weekend was a blast. We had a great time and hope to return again on upcoming visits.

Great experience at the Vista house. The expanse and beauty of the view was quite a surprise! And the house was extremely comfortable—beds were luxe and the shower was amazingly huge and a highlight of the stay actually. Fresh eggs for breakfast and a smile and fun pups to welcome us as we arrived. The drive up the mountain is a bit longer than we expected and a little unnerving at night, but it is safe and well paved and beautifully scenic. Location is perfect for Morro and Avila. San Luis Obispo is even closer. Would recommend and would stay again. At the Vista house it feels like you are on top of the world.

Ryan, Bourbon, and Cider are the greatest hosts- and their Vista House is super amazing- sheer bliss- with absolutely stunning views. We already have friends from other countries who have asked for the info on how to rent this peaceful gem on the hilltop! Thank you Ryan, Bourbon, and Cider for a most memorable family vacation- we look forward to returning!

Spectacular views, and a warm and welcoming home to relax and unwind. Very close to downtown and all amenities, but also secluded enough to feel refreshed and recuperated. We couldn't get enough of this place, and hope to come back again soon.

We really enjoyed our stay at VISTA HOUSE above the Clouds! The location was serene and amazing on top of the mountain. The beautiful property has a spectacular view literally for miles. The house was very comfortable. My son missed Bourbon and Cider who played with us every day during our visit. We sincerely appreciate all Ryan has done for us. I would highly recommend it to anyone!

Let me tell you that the pictures do not do it justice. This is an amazing house. The location is unbelievable. You feel at home. It has a country vibe to it. The drive up is unreal. My children had an awesome time with the animals. We came out here to celebrate my dads 55 birthday and he was overwhelmed with happiness. We are planning on coming back in the summer to enjoy the sun and view.
