The master has a vaulted ceiling and a large and roomy closet with lots of extra bedding and linens. Our family of 2 parents and 3 young adults (19,19 and 23) loved our 7 day stay for thanksgiving. The cottage is very close to the beach and Caroline’s Seaside Cafe. The kitchen has everything you need to cook a family feast. Everyone had their own bed; three full baths with lots of towels meant no long wait for a shower. My oldest daughter was able to work remotely. We also enjoyed walking to nearby La Jolla Shores restaurants. Wish we could have stayed longer; No one wanted to return home or back to school. We loved the koi pond too!

We came with our daughter who is relocating to the San Diego area. Ease of access to highways was perfect. House is a quiet hideaway, plenty of space. Comfortable. Lovely outdoors with a koi pond and waterfall. Kitchen was well appointed and food store close by. Beds were comfortable. Everything very clean. We walked to beach everyday and enjoyed dining in La Jolla Shores. Quiet spots in the house for my daughter to work remotely while the rest of us relaxed. The manager and owner were easily accessible and accommodating. We hope to return and enjoy this home away from home again in the near future!

Property is in an amazing location. Very close to the beach, other restaurants and the freeway. Plenty on space for my wife and I and we couldn’t be happier with our visit. Would definitely recommend and return.

Great location. Plenty of room. Plenty of parking. Lovely backyard in which to contemplate the universe. Used great kitchen to cook a months worth of daughters favorite home cooked food. Joyce (owner/hostess) was lovely. Coming back in two months for another visit.

This lovely placed was steps away from the beach. Inside a private gate. Our host Joyce was delightful to talk with. 2 Bedrooms upstairs with daybed. Well stocked and everything you need in the kitchen. 3 Bathrooms. Very safe for your La Jolla vacation.

Our family of 3 adults stayed at this property for 3 weeks and we loved it! The location is perfect--we enjoyed walking into town and the short walk to the beach, and it was a convenient drive to everywhere. The house is very comfortable and well-stocked and the owner is a warm and lovely woman. By the end of 3 weeks we felt like we lived there and were sad to check out. We highly recommend this property and we plan to rent it again in the future. Also, it was an excellent value for the price.

This home is conveniently located one block from the beach, and across the street from Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UCSD; just a short walk to the Scripp's Pier, or to Caroline's Seaside Cafe (on campus) for breakfast/lunch with stunning ocean views.
The property is quiet, making it easy to sleep in/work remotely (if that's your thing); even has a koi pond in the back garden.
The inside, though furnished with outdated and sometimes mismatched furniture, is very clean, with comfortable bed and fresh, white linens and towels. Was perfect for our extended family of 5-6 guests.
Although the property owner lives there, we never saw her; and she is not the property manager. The rental is a separate unit on the back of the property, with its own outdoor parking (room for 2 vehicles); no ocean view from the back unit.
If you like (very) long walks on the beach (we walked every day to La Jolla Cove; about 4.5 miles round trip), surfing, ocean kayaking, paddle boarding, open water swimming, snorkeling, or beach play, this is your home away from home. The entire shoreline is part of the Matlahuayl Marine Reserve (also called the La Jolla Underwater Park), and there is an abundance of sea lions, seals, garabaldi, guitar fish, leopard sharks, sea bass, and ever some tide pools to explore at low tide. The Birch Aquarium, a short uphill drive from the property, is also a fun excursion.
Would definitely stay at this property again. Highly recommend.

It is not a detached dwelling; it is connected to the front house, and this made me a little hesitant to play the piano. But Joyce, my charming host, told me not to worry at all about the noise. Very quiet, and in the front upstairs bedroom you can hear the sound of the ocean at night.

For starters, the location was perfect ..the picture on the website reflects exactly what we expected--across the street from the beach for great walking. The weather was still cool so no swimming but we're sure that in the summer this would be fantastic.
The accommodations were wonderful for us. The kitchen was clean and well equipped for those wanting to prepare meals at home--which we did--with many grocery stores a drive away.
The master bedroom had a very comfortable bed with attached bathroom and the one guest bedroom's bed was also comfortable and across the hall from a 2nd bathroom. Our daughters' visits overlapped and the sleeper couch in the 2nd floor living area which had to be used was not that comfortable however.
Our host Joyce was delightful. She was available if we needed any questions answered and stopped in for a visit to talk about her life in the area.
We would certainly return here when we come for our next visit!

Our friend has a knee replacement coming up a few days after the trip, she loved the chair lift on the stairs. The beach is one block away and Caroline's has a great breakfast on the beach. Don't know if we'll ever get back to the area again, but would definitely stay here again. Thanks.

There was no mention that the unit is two story. Three of the five were 75 plus years old, would not have rented if known was 2 story.
Another party had had 4 back surgeries, again would never have rented a two story.
The day bed was too small for the fifth guest, who fortunately for him was only there one night.
As we were there for a wedding, we needed to touch up the mens shirts with an iron, the ironing board cover was trash. Absolutely no padding left, when the iron touched the black shirt, it left triangle marks from the frame.
Used a towel for padding, but ruined the shirt for the wedding. Cost of shirt was $80.00. Good grief buy an new ironing pad and cover.
The bushes need to be trimmed back on the street as they block the view of on coming traffic as you exit the property . This is a serious safety hazard!!!!
The landscaping needs some personal maintenance and clean up.
The tree branches would have scratched the top of our two trucks had we not checked for clearance first.
And lastly, and no real inconvenience, there was no dish cloth for washing the dishes, we used a paper towel. When you ask someone to do something it only makes sense that supplies should be available to complete the task.
This was our first stay at a private owner vacation home.
The convenience of family in the same house really was convenient compared to 3 hotel rooms. I would consider staying VRBO again, however not here.

I gave the cottage a 4 rating due to the fact that their were not enough living room chairs for everyone to sit comfortably. The couch was close to the TV and at an odd angle so sitting together in the evening watching a movie wasn't the most comfortable for everyone. Also the saucepans and utensils in the kitchen were a little inadequate for a group who planned to cook together. Overall a very nice stay.

This VRBO has an awesome location, just steps away from the ocean. The house in incredibly clean and the owner is very accommodating. I fully recommend this house and when I come back to San Diego would love to stay here again.

The rental cottage in La Jolla was very clean inside. A full kitchen (all appliances worked very well) and sizeable dining table.
The living room furniture was less desirable, uncomfortable and could use an update on cushions. A washer/dryer were a plus to have on premise. Three full baths, but not enough washcloths for our 9 day stay (we bought a six pack and left them there).
The outside of property was a bit overgrown for our liking, so we didn't use it at all during our 9 day stay.
Rental property is across street from the beach and just a very short walk to Caroline's Cafe at the beach, which we enjoyed the views while having breakfast.
Rental property is conveniently located, within driving distance, to many interests & airport.
Brant was easy to communicate with and responded promptly.

The property is a classic in-law unit directly behind a larger house. They have done a great job providing privacy from the main house. There are two bedrooms upstairs with a day-bed in an open area at the top of the stairs.
While the home could use some contemporary updates for the price, it's location cannot be beat and the hosts were very accommodating.

Our stay her was wonderful and very relaxing. Property is secluded and quiet. Met the owner and she was so sweet and accommodating. Very nice and not crowded beach just across the street. Def would stay again. Loved the antiques in the home!!
