About this cabin rental
Situated in Lake Vermilion, this charming cabin for $302 per night is a great option for your next vacation. Summary: Escape the city and indulge in fishing, boating, snowmobiling, or pure relaxation at our Northwoods cabin on Lake Vermilion. Kids will adore the spacious yard for soccer and baseball, while an adjacent trail caters to ATV, snowmobile, and walking adventures throughout the region. We have a 21' Bennington available for rent to guests of our cabin at $200 per day. Please reach out after booking if you are interested. The Space: This north-woods cabin was built in '54 and has seen many updates over the years. The original knotty pine floors and ceiling are still just as warm feeling today as they were when it was built. A large living room where you will also find a 42" TV with Netflix, Youtube TV (ESPN, Fox Sports, NBC, etc), and a huge movie collection. In the kitchen you'll find everything you need for cooking, including coffee maker, pots, pans, utensils, dishes, and a grill.. Guest Access: Guests have the entire cabin to themselves. There is a private fire pit, deck, and grill. In addition there are three shared 60' docks and a community firepit by the water. Other Things to Note: This cabin is one of three on our property and Bayview Lodge is located to the East of our property. During summer months there is an outdoor bar at Bayview Lodge and despite the large fence it is something that you can generally hear when outdoors. They are great neighbors and shut things down by 10 pm but if you don't want to hear or see other people this property is not for you. Interaction with Guests: We live in our home on the same property. If you need anything we will be available but understand most people come up here to escape.

You really never know what to expect. After a 12 hr drive, this cabin was perfect! We are retired & travel with our 2 yr old Newfoundland. Location was beautiful & the lake made a tranquil setting. Having a dog friendly restaurant in walking distance was super convenient. We’ve been coming up to the Iron Range for years. I feel, we finally found our little house that we can call home when we return. Thank you SO much for stellar hospitality! Dan, Lenette, & Loki

It had everything. The owners were great. It had an awesome water access with water activities. It was walking distance from a bar restaurant. It had several fire pits for getting to know some of the other guests and a large grassy area to play yard games. We really enjoyed our stay and definitely would consider staying there again.

We had a very enjoyable stay! The hosts Ron and Denise could not have been kinder. They answered all questions and went above and beyond to make sure our trip was hassle free. The cabin had everything we needed and along with the close proximity to a boat launch we were able to fish to our hearts content. We definitely will be back along with our doggies who also loved it there!

This small cabin was perfect for me, my wife and our Labradors. We traveled to Ely almost daily for various adventures, rented a snowmobile a few miles away, exercised our dogs on the frozen lake and enjoyed our evenings with a fire. It is what I would call a camp but that suits me just fine. The hosts are available next door if you need them. Everything worked and was clean. I would stay here again.

We booked with Roy and Deneise for our family guys getaway for fishing, enjoying the lake, and outdoors. Both Roy and Deneise welcomed us like we were family and we had a great stay. Great fishing off the dock and the cabin itself was perfect for us. The owners were very responsive to getting the water heater back up and running and they took care of it when we went out for dinner. There was plenty of firewood and we enjoyed a couple of lakeview fires. The proximity to Vermillion access was convenient. We would encourage any group going to Vermillion to check out Roy and Deneise's place!

We couldn't have asked for a better trip to Minnesota. Roy and Denise were the most hospitable hosts. The fireside cabin was perfect for us. It gave us a place to eat, use the restroom and sleep. By no means is it anything fancy, but it's just all you need. It's incredibly quaint and very home-y feeling. We were able to put up a pack-n-play in the front bedroom, so know that is possible if needed! If you need anything at all contact Roy and Denise. They will do anything they can to get you what you need. We will absolutely be back! Thanks for making our first trip so memorable!

I rented the cabin for my 3 kids and myself and it was more than enough space for us, even with my brother and parents dropping in for a night or two. It was very clean and cozy and furnished with everything we could possibly need during our stay. Denise and Roy are so accommodating and friendly. We hope to visit again next summer!

Awesome place with awesome owners.
We had such a great time. The kids asked to make this an annual trip after the first day! Denise and Roy were amazing and made us feel like old friends. We loved Buddy and Otto, but we love dogs. The fishing was great. The cabin was perfect for our family of 6. It came stocked with all we needed. The views were great. We are a young, energetic group and didn't mind the steps down to the beach. The beach was small, but great for our youngest. We hope to come back and stay again.

Magnificent lake views from cabin with convenient boat docks and beach a staircase away. Great bonfire pit with lots of split wood and a bar and grill just a short walk away from the cabin. The caretakers were welcoming and helpful. We would return for fishing, pet friendly lake life.

What a relaxing trip! If you want the true UpNorth experience, this is it, bonus without all the work.
The communication with the owners was great. Vermilion is such a pretty lake and our cabin was overlooking the lake through the old birch trees and towering red pines. The view was beautiful and the sunsets, breathtaking.
The cabin was perfect. The knotty pine finish takes me back to memories of our family vacations up north as a child. It had a full bath and kitchen with 3 bedrooms and an open living and dining area with a big picture window looking at the lake. All the windows had new upgrades and they kept the timeless charm of this cabin by keeping the cool old windows in the kitchen.
Denise and Roy, the owners, have everything you need for a relaxing family getaway. They made sure everything was fully furnished and stocked, this included all the firewood you could possibly want for the beautiful hand made old stone fireplace and the firepit and trust me we had that going all the time.
Oh and did I mention the free wifi, super important with 2 teenage boys that have to Bluetooth and streamline music. We can't wait to come back when the lake is open so we can do some boating and canoeing. The boys even asked Roy if he would take them fishing and he was so nice and told them, absolutely, anytime.
The owners were so friendly and accommodating and lived next door so it was nice to have them so close. It was like having our own personal tour guides. They had wonderful recommendations on where to go for other fun activities when everything opens back up.
Definitely will be making this an annual trip and there is so much space and other rental options on their property that we will be bringing our friends next time because this truly is the UpNorth vacation destination for us.

Visit cut short
The picture shown on this site is not the one you get at this cabin, this is a deck off of the owners property. This cabin is in great dire need of rehab. Floors bellow when you walk on them, deck is in need of some real fixing, your cabin view of the lake is obscured by trees in front of the bedroom window. Some of the rooms had a bad odor and it's not as private as the pictures appear. More like a camp site.. The stairs to the lake are in front of the owners cabin and are very, very steep to reach the water. The docks need help also, sway when walking on them. The owners were nice, but this was a lot of money for this cabin and it wasn't even on the water.
They have Roku TV, WIFI wasn't the greatest, couldn't even get a signal to make a phone call.
I will not be returning to this place soon.

Such a wonderful cabin feel
I am so in love with this cabin. The outside could use some work however dont let that fool you.. the inside is wonderful. it really gives that cabin feel. the rock stone fireplace is amazing.We had fires in there 2 nights and it was really enjoyable to have an indoor fireplace. My husband and I will for sure be coming back. Denise and Roy are wonderful people. they came and introduced themselves when we showed up. Very nice area for outside campfires as well. The full moon was wonderful to look at outside with the nightly fires. Would recommend the only thing is the beds are not the greatest. there is one bed with the foam padding on it and it was super comfortable and didnt know that till the 2nd night we were there and we switched beds it was just my husband and I. If i would suggest anything it would be to get foam for the other 2 beds as well. otherwise it was super quiet and cozy and i will be returning next year for sure. the only thing is i will be booking for longer than 6 days. it went by way too fast.

The family came up and we stayed for 3 nights. It was a cute little cabin. New owners and they are absolutely wonderful people!! They had just about everything that you would need from dishes to bedding. They had a campfire right outside the front door which was great. Beautiful views from down by the beach area. We all hada great time and now were sad it has to come to an end. Would/will come back here and would recommend to anyone. But definitely bring pants and sweatshirts.

A pleasant week spent at your cabin by the lake!
The cabin, beds and furniture were clean and comfy and improvements you’ve already made such as winterizing, replacing windows and adding picture window are great. Roy and Denise were pleasant and attentive on-site hosts. Cort’s reservation & pmt process was seamless. Maps & things-to-do were helpful. Boat launch was close and we especially appreciated being able to tie-up the boat at docks all week. We will definitely be back!

Exterior and grounds need (more) work. A good spring cleaning is needed inside and out. With fees cost is high for what you get.

We had a wonderful time.
The cabin was very cozy and reminded me of my parents lake cabin. Our hosts were great! Everything from making our stay great to sharing all the fishing hotspots. The grandkids especially liked the big sandbox!!! Only regret is wish we could have stayed longer.

Lovely Cabin
I just want to say that the owners worked with our unique situation and were very accommodating. The cabin was wonderful! The WiFi was awesome, never had an issue which is an awesome amenity to have out on the lake. The view is glorious and rain or shine just beautiful.

Great little cabin
Just got home from a great weekend of cross country skiing. Cabin was great with classic old school cabin feel. Used the old stone fireplace both nights which was great. Easy 25 minute drive to Ely. Cort is great to work with. We had to reschedule twice due to extreme cold weather and again because we botched our schedule and both times Cort was totally understanding and flexible which we're grateful for.
BTW, I save my 5-star reviews for out of this world. 4 in my book means very good. Thx Cort.
