About this house rental
Nestled in Tisbury, this attractive house for $285 per night is a fantastic choice for your next vacation. Salt Box style Log Home with open floor plan built by my family with a country feel, located on a wooded lot in the down island town of Oak Bluffs. Central Air and easy walk to local beach that is used by families of the Lagoon Heights area. Beautiful town and state beaches close by. Charter fishing, golf, great restaurants and ample shopping for the occasional rainy day. Many local attractions to visit, gingerbread homes, tabernacle, oldest functioning carrousel, walking/ bike trails and nature preserves to keep one busy while enjoying the the Vineyard's laid back, casual nature. First floor bedroom has queen bed, upstairs has the full bed. Loft area has three twin beds. Screened porch has wicker furniture, two couches and two comfortable chairs. The home provides a comfortable retreat for those that prefer to be away from crowds, yet only a short trip to town and the beaches. *If not able to bring your own linens, they can be provided for an additional fee that is dealt with at the time of arrival. I will discuss with the guests prior to arrival. Keywords: Log home, deck, screened porch, grill, outside shower, quiet neighborhood, walk to local beach, 1.1 miles to town, restaurants, shopping and fishing. Golf close by at Farm Neck and a 10-15 minute ride to Mink Meadows Golf Club in Vineyard, Haven. Check in time generally around noon on day of arrival. Varies according to departure of party leaving. Check out time is generally 10 am to provide sufficient time for turnover(terminal cleaning) before next parties arrival. Owner does not break up a prime summer week, therefore all bookings need to be for seven nights. In addition, the weeks need to run Saturday to Saturday, as the turnover day with support with cleaning is on Saturday during prime time. All other dates can book a minimum of two nights at anytime.

We absolutely loved this house and our time in Oaks Bluff. John was fantastic to work with and made sure we were comfortable and settled in when we arrived. The neighborhood was quiet and we felt very safe. We definitely plan to return someday!

Owner lives next door, so good accessibility. The house is close to center of Oak Bluffs. Neigborhood was quiet during our stay after Labor Day. Beds were comfortable. Only caution is the dirt roads going to house were heavily rutted with several deep potholes which were difficult to negotiate even at a slow speed. Vehicles beware! Otherwise, a pleasant stay.

We had a great Labor Day Weekend here (2023). The owners were very responsive and kind. The location is an easy bike into Oak Bluffs, but probably too far to walk. The house is actually more spacious and brighter than the online pictures indicate. There was laundry available in the basement and the air conditioning was nice on the one humid day we had.
Our family of four would definitely stay here again.

We really enjoyed our time in this island home. It was quiet, clean, close to the top attractions, and it had all the amenities to make for an enjoyable time with family. Communication was great, and everything was smooth about our stay. Would definitely consider this home again in the future!

Tye host was very friendly and helpful- great guy. The house he built is a great design, log canin, but also the features like a sun room that are typical of the island. The AC cooled the house quickly.

We had a wonderful 4 day stay at this home in Oak Bluffs. Homeowner has done a wonderful job at making this home very comfortable... Our only suggestion would be to upgrade the bed upstairs.

John, our gracious host, met us as we arrived and showed us around. He was very helpful and kind to do that. We have a great short weekend on the Vineyard at his lovely home. Beautiful all season rooms to hang out in, plenty of space for our 4 person group (with sleeping for 7) and so close to Oak Bluffs (with a short car ride to Edgartown).

I'd say this place is even nicer than the photos show in the listing. It worked really well for our group staying there for a wedding--there's only one bathroom but the outdoor shower was really helpful with getting ready. Would recommend!

My friends and I were in town for a wedding and enjoyed being within walking distance (20 min) of Oak Bluffs. John is a great property owner and was very responsive to our questions and flexible with check-in time based on the ferry schedule. Appreciated a comfortable, homey spot with plenty of room for the 5 of us to relax in for the long weekend! Thanks again!

John Gurney was a absolute pleasure to deal with! He demonstrated, and showed us all we needed to know about the house. The pictures on VRBO do not do this house justice! It is much nicer than the pics Indicate! All appliances worked perfectly. Plus, John is a golfer! How can he not be a good guy? We hope we can secure a week here again next summer!! John was quickly responsive to the few small issues that came up during out stay. The house is very conveniently located a short drive from the center of Oak Bluffs, with easy access to all parts of the island. This was my first visit to MV and I absolutely loved and and would love to come back. I would definitely rent this house again.

Lovely home
John was a welcoming host and gave us a thorough tour of the home. There were many amenities that you won’t always find like beach chairs. We appreciated several different rooms for sleeping with our group of 7. Would stay there again.

This was our second stay in Lagoon Heights. We loved it so much the first time, we decided to visit again. We love the location, close enough to everything but far enough away that you feel tucked away from the busy center of Oak Bluffs. Plenty of space for our family of 5 plus a friend. This was our second stay in Lagoon Heights. We loved it so much the first time, we decided to visit again. We love the location, close enough to everything but far enough away that you feel tucked away from the busy center of Oak Bluffs. Plenty of space for our family of 5 plus a friend. Great Stay on Martha's Vineyard
We had a wonderful stay on the Vineyard. As we came with bikes only, and not a car, the house was conveniently located from the Ferry terminal and to grocery stores. The house is in a neighborhood and other houses are visible from the house, but we were not bothered by this. The inside of the house is very comfortable. The sun porch was a wonderful spot to sit for morning coffee! As stated in a previous review, the upstairs bedroom is accessed off the landing that has the three beds and so if someone was sleeping in the three beds, there would not be privacy. Again, this was not an issue for us. The owner is very responsive and helpful. He lives in an apartment on the backside of the rental, but is not intrusive and was available for any questions that we had. Overall, a great get away!!

Communication was great. The cozy/almost woodsy feeling was perfect. The central air was much needed. Had everything we needed.

Family vacation!
Wonderful experience all around ! House was immaculate upon arrival and much larger than the pictures convey online. Our party of 7 had more than enough space. Both John, the owner and Josh (son greeted us bc John out of town) were very friendly and communicative. It was a hot week so we were grateful for central ac ! We especially enjoyed dinners on the deck, the outdoor shower, and gathering in the sunroom !! We also loved morning walks to the lagoon beach close-by. The house is in a great location to reach other parts of the island without traffic.
