About this house rental

Located in North Captiva Island, this lovely house for $1,200 per night is a fantastic choice for your next trip. * ALWAYS CLEANED AND SANITIZED BY A PROFESSIONAL CLEANING SERVICE!! Welcome to North Captiva Island, a private, bridge-less island accessible only by boat. North Captiva was separated from Captiva Island by a hurricane in 1921 which created Red Fish Pass. The lack of a bridge made development of North Captiva difficult and has resulted in an "Island Paradise", with a feel similar to Florida in the 1940's. North Captiva is noted for uncrowded, un-restored beaches with excellent shelling. The south two-thirds of the Island is a state wildlife area, while the north one-third is lightly developed with homes. "Island Time" is observed once you step off the boat onto the island! Please do not miss Gulf Dreams' drone video. You can access it in our pictures. Many of our pictures are reproductions of comments and drawings Gulf Dreams' guests have left in our Guest Book. IMAGINE... a beach vacation at a house that’s like your very own luxury beach resort called Gulf Dreams on-the-beach. The deed to this beach house states that the property’s west boundary is the Gulf of Mexico. The house has 75 feet of private, white sand Gulf beach for your pleasure, easily accessed by the only private, elevated walkway on the island. IMAGINE... keeping your own or rented boat at Gulf Dreams on-the-beach’s private 85-foot dock (lot is fenced with private, locked entrance, 28 ft boat or smaller only) on a private canal located 1,000-feet east of Gulf Dream's beach house. This dock can also be used for fishing. You will be greeted upon your arrival on North Captiva by Gulf Dream's manager. Our manager will transport you and your luggage and groceries to Gulf Dreams (unless you requested the kitchen be pre-stocked), will familiarize you with Gulf Dreams amenities, as well as the island, and will be a phone call away during your stay to meet your needs. IMAGINE... a secluded beach house four stories tall accessed by a long, landscaped driveway providing privacy from golf cart traffic and neighboring houses. IMAGINE.. a bright and airy 4-story beach house with vaulted ceiling heights of 10 to 14 feet throughout, 2 large screened-in lanais with expansive views of the pool and Gulf of Mexico (one where you can eat all your meals outdoors, the other where you can play ping-pong and board games). IMAGINE... a large, 4th-floor master suite, with spectacular 360-degree views of the Gulf and bay sides of the island, a gourmet, fully equipped kitchen with granite counters and high-end appliances, travertine and granite bathrooms. IMAGINE... having privately-owned heated swimming pool and pool-side gazebo located on a beach dune, surrounded by lush, tropical vegetation. IMAGINE... the only private, raised walkway that provides access to Gulf Dream's private beach while assuring complete privacy for the pool and Gulf Dreams. IMAGINE... your own 12 beach chairs and 3 umbrellas, 4 kayaks (4 single) and 2 SUP paddle boards make going to the "island" (an exposed sandbar) 1/3 mile offshore a great family shelling adventure. Two golf carts are provided. Volleyball equipment provided for entertainment on Gulf Dream's beach. Let’s get into the details of the pleasures that await you: 1st. This property is absolutely magical ! We had a group of 12. One 14 month old, 2 teens and the rest adults. They had something for everyone to do. The privacy, the location the access to the beach, the sunsets, the pool… everything was amazing. The had everything I needed for my baby which was so nice and convenient that I didn’t need to bring things like high chair or crib. The only complaint I have is a septic issue/smell in one of the king bed rooms that was never resolved while on our trip but I am sure that will be looked into. My mother had that room so she was not very happy. Otherwise I would 1000% stay here again. My whole family has been dreaming about going back since we left and we have talked about coming here every single year. Ps. The manager was very sweet as well!

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday week together with all of our kids and grandkids. This was the perfect spot! The house had all we needed- king sized beds for all the adults, a warm heated pool, direct access to a beautiful, quiet beach, great shelling, a well equipped kitchen for all our family meals, a big screen TV for football games, 2 golf Carts to Get around the island (a Favorite activity for our little ones!) and an amazing view of the ocean from the house. This was our first time To Captiva and we loved it. It does take some planning in regards to transportation and food planning, but the quiet, unhurried atmosphere on the island makes it worth all the planning! Unfortunately there are still homes that need repair from the hurricane, but they are obviously working hard to get everything back in shape. Gulf Dreams was in great shape. Beautiful new landscaping around the pool. Ally, the property manager was Great. She arranged for us to be picked up at the dock with all our food and coolers and responded quickly to any questions or small issues that needed to be addressed. Thank you, Wendell and Karen, for sharing your lovely home With us. It was enjoyed by all!

This house is amazing and the island is a truly unique and beautiful place. I would highly recommend it for anybody looking for a relaxing vacation. The kids absolutely loved the pool, the beach was pristine and private, and the owners of the house thought of everything that vacationers would need. We had a blast taking the golf carts around the island too. We utilized the service to stock our house with food and drinks and we were so happy we did. To walk into your vacation home already containing all of what you need is a really valuable add on. We also hired a chef and we wanted to make sure to include his name here as he was awesome. Shout out to Chef Bo! While there are certainly homes in the area that have not yet recovered from the hurricane, Gulf Dreams is not one of them and I would highly recommend staying there!!

We had a wonderful vacation at this property, Gulf Dreams, on North Captiva Island. The owner was extremely nice and very accommodating. The island had been hit pretty hard from the hurricane but the house looked amazing. They had done all new landscaping around the house and pool that looked very pretty. The house itself was very clean and had been freshly painted, and also had some new decor that really made the place look awesome. The managers Sean and Ally, were on top of everything, helping with anything we needed. There were 10 of us staying, 6 adults and 4 kids, and the house fit us all perfectly, we didn't even use the bedroom on the lower level of the house. We were there 7 days and cooked all our own meals there except for one night out. The kitchen was beautiful and very well equipped, we even made our own ice cream one night. We grilled out every night and the deck had 2 tables that fit us all nicely. Inside we all fit very comfortably in the living room area and at the tables inside as well. The mattresses are new and very comfortable as well. The pool was heated, it was warm upon our arrival which was great! Also the walk way to the beach was extremely nice to have. The beach itself is beautiful and we used all the equipment the house offers and had the best time at the beach! The sunsets were gorgeous, it was amazing. I believe Gulf Dreams is truly the best house on North Captiva Island to stay at, it is beautiful, we loved it, we will go back!!

I am not one to write reviews, but felt the need to write one in hopes of helping those who might consider renting this house. I know the hurricane took a toll on the island 10 moths ago and that it will take time to repair all of the damage, and I am so sorry this has happened. If there was more transparency with the condition of the house after the hurricane, like updated photos on Vrbo and a note about the progress of renovating the house ( when new screens and roof will be put on, replacing all the rusty nails, and replacing broken wires on balcony railing, etc.), we would’ve been more understanding of the condition of the house when we arrived…especially with the price you’re paying. *The pictures and description are pre-hurricane, so it’s misleading. A few safety issues: Coconut trees surrounding the pool. One fell off and hit the water feet away from my mother in the pool and another fell off right by my husband on the patio. As a safety hazard, it would seem pertinent to give a warning or have the trees maintained before guests stay there. The wires on balcony railings are either coming off or loose. So don’t let your kids or family lean up against it on the top balcony. The house could’ve been cleaner, esp in the bathrooms (found nail clipping on counter and hair everywhere on “clean” towels and shower). My hope is that this will help fix a few concerns so the next group staying will have a better stay than us. We did enjoy the beautiful view from the balconies

Everything about this place was amazing. The location, the privacy, the views, the beach, and the pool. Plenty of room and the house has everything you need. When we arrived, the pool was broken and the landscaping is wrecked. There is still a ton of debris around the island. The lights downstairs don't work and neither do the appliances but there are plenty of other appliances in the house that DO work. The mosquitoes are HORRENDOUS! So bring bug spray. The property management company fixed the pool on day 3 of our trip. Things we wish we would've known beforehand: 1) There are no cars on the island 2) They charge you 40% to get groceries for you. Get DoorDash or Instacart to deliver your groceries to the marina and go pick them up. It was 1/5th the price. 3) Don't plan on going outside at night. The mosquitoes will carry you away. 4) The island is still a mess after the hurricane. It's not what it once was, but it is getting back there with all the work being done on the island. June 2023
