Inzalo is a beautiful, intimate lodge in Welgevonden with a peaceful setting and a really personal, owner-run feel. The property blends naturally into the landscape, with lovely views, a calm atmosphere, and a strong sense of being immersed in the bush. The reserve itself was much bigger and more varied than I expected, with open plains, rocky areas, changing scenery, and a real feeling of space.
The safari experience was fantastic. During my stay I saw an amazing variety of wildlife, including lions, cheetah, elephants, buffalo, rhinos, giraffe, kudu, zebra, warthogs, hyena,, impala, owls, kingfishers, raptors, and plenty of smaller moments that made every drive feel special. One of the highlights was having elephants come right up near the lodge and porch, which made the whole experience even more memorable.
The people really made the stay. Bertus was outstanding as both a guide and host. He was friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. He made the drives interesting and informative without ever feeling rushed or too formal. Dave and Henriette have created a warm, welcoming atmosphere at the lodge, and Dave personally checked in multiple times to make sure everything was going smoothly throughout my stay. Tina, the manager, was always attentive and made sure I had everything I needed. Sparky’s food was a real standout, and Maria and Patricia added to the warm atmosphere with their kindness and thoughtful service.
As a solo traveller, I felt completely comfortable and well looked after. The whole experience felt relaxed, personal, and unforgettable. Can’t wait to come back again!

The ambiance of the place.Thank you Mandy and Gerdas who are always at your service. The food was amazing, the chefs who prepared the tasty meals and also baked my birthday cake,Sparks and Erick a special thank you for going an extra mile.Patricia and Maria thank you for a great service with a smile.Sfiso the ranger, the game drives will always be memorable! The food was excellent and kitchen staff and servers were an absolute pleasure and very attentive. Carol is a star. The rooms were immaculate and extremely comfortable
We did not enjoy the game ranger that was on duty during our stay. He had a very condescending attitude and could have shared a lot more knowledge with the guests. I must say that I would return to the establishment any time but would definitely first enquire who will be the ranger.
