WHITE LODGE
Luxurious historic property, spanning the secluded end of Dunmore Street, with lawns running down to a private boathouse and dock for swimming and boating on the bay. Guest cottages and a tennis court span the grounds behind the house. The compound-style property is 3 minutes walk to the beach via Alice Street, five minutes walk from town.
The main house at White Lodge is a classic white wood Bahamian cottage built in the 1860s, originally located near today's Princess Street Art Gallery. In the 1930s the house moved to its waterfront seat on Dunmore Street, and gained side porches. A wide front porch and expansive terraces offer privacy and unrivaled bay views from sunrise to sunset.
Spectacular outdoor living on terraces and porches offer many options for gathering, eating, and relaxing. Three cottages adjacent to the main house comprise a total of six bedrooms and 5.5 baths.
Lush landscaping and newly renovated throughout with chic, breezy interiors. The housekeeper is present six days weekly, all morning; she is an excellent lunch/dinner cook, via separate arrangement.

Absolutely amazing property!

My family hadn't been to Harbour Island for 40 years and we planned a family reunion. White Lodge was the ideal place to stay. The house has everything we could asked for and more - old world charm, very cute updated decorating, lots of space, a perfect location and well equipped with everything. The grounds are beautiful with many places for family members to go to spread out - patios on the front, upper left, lower left, upper balcony and down at the dock. It is a 5 min walk to the spectacular beach and a 10 walk into town.
The dock is a lovely spot to relax with comfortable chairs and 2 umbrellas at the dock house. We took a morning swim there each day after playing tennis on our court. The children loved playing at the dock and having kayaks.
The house has so many thoughtful touches - night lights in the bathrooms, games of all kinds, a selection of cds, all types of kitchen gadgets, cook books, extra hats for the sun, beach stuff - towels,chairs,umbrellas- tennis racquets, Wifi, books on Harbour Island history, lots of reading books to choose from. The bed sheets and towels are luxuriously thick and soft. It feels like home, only so much better.
The staff is superb - very knowledgeable, discreet, and helpful for anything we needed. We had reserved gold carts at Johnson's but they didn't have them when we got here. The house manager, Dean, found 2 carts for us immediately. My mother needed a prescription so he went with her to the clinic to help her get it. The gardener Mango got my son some bait so he could fish off the dock.
I can't think of anything lacking. We hate the thought of leaving in a few days!! It has been the best vacation!
