About this house rental
Nestled in El Granada, this charming house for $190 per night is a fantastic choice for your next vacation. Seaside Retreat is located in a quiet neighborhood just a 10 minute walk to Surfer's Beach and the Coastal Trail, walking distance to Sam's Chowder House and Princeton Harbor and just 4 miles to historic Half Moon Bay. Its the perfect base for enjoying the Bay Area, situated 40 minutes south of San Francisco and an hour north of San Jose. Decorated with a nautical theme, you’ll love our place because of how light and cozy it feels. Travelers visiting Seaside Retreat will have access to a completely private, self-contained ground floor unit of a duplex. There are two bedrooms which have very comfortable beds (one room has a king bed and the other has a queen), luxury bedding and quiet sitting areas. There is a cozy living room with flat screen TV and a pullout queen-size sofa bed to accommodate additional guests. Please note, the pull-out sofa is best suited for children as the mattress is not as thick as the ones in the bedrooms. There is a counter area equipped with a laptop station to check your email or catch up on work as needed. Alternatively there is a portable desk that can be set up anywhere in the unit for work-at-home-away-from-home comfort. Wifi and basic office amenities are provided. Printer can be provided upon request. The kitchen is bright, spacious and fully equipped for preparing a simple snack or a gourmet meal. The dining area is adjacent to the kitchen and easily accommodates 6 people with optional leaf added. Books about the area, local magazines and card and board games are provided for your enjoyment. The unit has a small deck and access to a back yard with a ping pong table and brick patio with outdoor dining and grill available. By prior arrangement with the owner, travelers can have access to a washer and dryer located in the garage area. The host occupies the upper unit of the duplex and is very accessible for questions and assistance as needed. El Granada is a small beach community located just north of Half Moon Bay. Seaside Retreat is located within walking distance of Surfers Beach, the Coastal Trail, Quarry Park with hiking trails leading up into the hills with fabulous views of the harbor and ocean. Nearby are a variety of restaurants including Italian, seafood, Indian, tapas, Sam's Seafood Restaurant, Hop Dogma Pub and the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company. Fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, golfing, surfing, whale watching, biking, hiking, wine tasting, shopping and even scenic flights from the local airport are all just minutes away. After a day of fresh air and activity, you can find several local spas offering a variety of treatments to help you relax. It is a short drive to historic Half Moon Bay with its friendly Main Street lined with shops, cafes and restaurants. Further down the coast you will find the Ritz Carlton Hotel for a luxury cocktail or dinner. There is a local bus that has limited service with a stop just around the corner from Seaside Retreat, however, for greatest flexibility, Seaside Retreat is best reached by private car. In addition, there are Uber drivers and local tax services available. There is off-street parking available for one vehicle.

My family and I had a wonderful stay at Mary-Anne's place. It was very clean and quite large for a two bedroom VRBO. We cooked in a couple nights and the large kitchen had everything we needed including an amazing full-wood butcher-block island. My kids and I had fun playing ping-pong in the backyard our first morning. This property is close to many things Half-Moon Bay and quick access to the HWY without being so close that you can hear the traffic. We could not hear it at all, which was nice and peaceful. We'll definitely consider coming back for a future coastal vacation!

We had a great stay. The rooms were clean, the house was well maintained and the owners (Mary-Anne and Brian) were very responsive. If you are looking for a quiet, well kept house, with access to the Bay Area, this is the place. The price point was hundreds less than local area hotels and other rentals. I could not recommend this place more highly!

Great place! Huge! Loved the kitchen! Also had every kitchen utensil we needed! Within walking distance to the ocean! Owners were extremely nice and accommodating! Nice to stay out of the city but still be close enough! Will definitely stay here every time we visit San Francisco!

This is a lovely place just a few minutes walk from the beach and easy access to many things in the area. We loved driving down the coast on Highway 1 and took some amazing pictures.
Mary-Anne was very helpful in providing information about the area and responded quickly to all our inquiries. There is also loads of information in the place for you to plan your stay and places to visit.
We would definitely stay here again.

Overall we enjoyed our stay. Very spacious apartment, close to amenities. We were expecting a welcome basket with wine and cheese as the advert stated but did not receive it. As others have stated the walls are thin and there is noise from the upstairs and surrounding area, if you’re a light sleeper I wouldn’t recommend it. But the beautiful home and spacious rooms make up for the minor issues. The beds are very cozy.

Great spot 30 min from San Francisco. Clean and roomy. The lockbox for the entrance sticks so we needed the owners help to get in. The hostess was out of town during our stay so we didn’t get the welcome basket or laundry access, but otherwise our stay was pleasant.

This was a beautiful little apartment well cared for, cozy and comfortable. Connection with the management was easy and very helpful. There are lots of walking and biking trails along the beach and up into the hills. It was just an amazing few days of relaxation and comfort. I would highly recommend this VRBO.

My daughter and her husband and my two grandkids and I enjoyed being together in this amazingly well supplied space. The weather required we spend a lot of time inside. There is a very large kitchen and two comfortable bedrooms and a sleeper sofa. We had room to interact or be private. The kids enjoyed the toys supplied and the adults enjoyed the cheese crackers and beverage.
The owner was very pleasant and helpful and clear on her expectations which were easy to meet. We would stay there again.

Very nice place, two large bedrooms, plus a pullout couch bed, full kitchen, walkout to backyard from living area. It's about 10-15 minutes walk to beach. Host is friendly, responsive.
Only drawback in my opinion is there are ants here and there, especially on kitchen counter when we visited. Host says it had been raining and ants are usually active after the rain.

Wonderful Getaway
My wife and I had a wonderful stay. The apartment is very clean, beautifully furnished and very comfortable. The kitchen is large and fully stocked with everything needed. The patio is bright and cheery, and Mary-Anne is a fabulous host. We are definitely going back again.

This place is cute and well kept. The property manager was wonderful in communicating and accommodating our needs. A colleague and I needed to get away to write and we were able to do so quite well in the space. The location is close to a great many things practical and exploratory.
The beds were quite comfortable rich is rare to say about being away from home.
The only aspect to take into consideration is that it has noisy water pipes where you can hear the water running through from upstairs.

COASTSIDE COMFORT at the Seaside Retreat
We recently spent a week at the Coastside Retreat in El Granada and could not have been happier. The 2 bedroom, 1 bath flat was well appointed, comfortable and extremely clean. The kitchen was bright and spacious and well appointed for making meals. While located in a quiet neighborhood, a convenience store is a block and a half away.
This ground floor unit of a duplex is walking distance from Surfer's Beach and Pillar Point Harbor, so there were plenty of restaurant and entertainment choices nearby. It is also close to Quarry Park and hiking trails in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
We appreciate that the owners, Mary-Anne and Brian, (who live in the upstairs unit) added a personal touch by placing fresh flowers and orchids in the duplex before our arrival. They also left books about the area and local magazines to browse, along with a number of card and board games. The check-in and check-out process was easy and well-detailed in the Guest Binder left on the kitchen table.
I highly recommend this VRBO rental. We left happy and refreshed.

Perfect
My wife and a friend and I stayed for a weekend and it was perfect. It was much bigger than we'd expected from the pictures; the neighborhood was extremely quiet yet very close in proximity to Hwy 1 (EASY walking distance to Sam's, Barbara's, etc). We've stayed at Harbor View for decades, but with the discovery of this gem, I don't think we'll be seeing the view from Harbor View anytime soon. Sincerest thanks, Mary-Anne!
