Situated in Hancock, this attractive condo for $199 per night is a great choice for your next vacation. Built in 1910, this historic building is formally known as the EL Wright School and was recently converted to residential living in March of 2019. This beautiful piece of history features a spacious open-concept layout, high ceilings, hardwood floors, and modern finishes. Because we wanted to create a stay that is both relaxing and as care free as possible, we added all the amenities of home to help you feel comfortable and at ease. - WIFI/Cable - Keurig coffee pot with supplied coffee/tea - Dish cloths with supplied dish detergent - Washer/Dryer with supplied detergent - Shampoo/Conditioner/Body Wash - Bath/Hand Towels, Washcloths Featuring the cities most convenient location, you will have easy access to nearby trails, outdoor activities, local shops, restaurants/bars, and the Portage Canal. There is a grocery store within walking distance for much added convenience. Michigan Tech/Finlandia University are both an easy five minute commute. Please note that this is a second floor apartment. Stairs are necessary to access the unit. If you need assistance with this, please let us know. We are available 24/7 via phone, text, AirBnB, or email if you should need anything before, during, or after your stay. Self check-in and check-out make it easy and convenient for you to come and go on your schedule. Access to the apartment is provided via a keyless entry code. Area attractions/places to note: 》Copper Harbor - 45 miles 》Quicy Mine Hoist - 1 mile 》U.P Health System Portage - 1.5 miles 》Hancock Beach - 1.5 miles 》Mclain State Park - 10 miles 》Mt. Ripley ski hill - 2.5 miles 》Mt. Bohemia ski hill - 38 miles There is a large parking lot with ample parking on the property. Trailer parking is welcome! We traveled to Houghton/Hancock for my son to participate in the Leading Scholar competition at Michigan Tech. This VRBO was in the perfect location. It was very clean and quiet. Beds were very comfortable, it has a nice welcoming feel to it and I felt at home from the minute we walked in the door. Shower had fantastic water pressure and snacks and coffee were a welcome surprise. Next time I'm up there, I will definitely stay there again.

My sister, daughter, and I drove from Virginia to attend a family wedding. The Loft on Lincoln gave us the space to relax, we each had our own room, and we were in a prime location to all of the events. We would stay here again!

We used this rental as a base for visiting friends in the area as well as hikes in the porcupine mountains and copper harbor. Very spacious and clean and just a cool property.

Traveled 500 miles for family wedding. Such a nice home away from home to stay at. The apartment was exactly as pictured. Owners were very responsive to any questions we had. Would highly recommend this property!

The property was a blast back in time, with it being a repurposed school building. We loved the high ceilings, wood floors, and tile flooring. This place hit the spot.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. Our girls could escape their normal housing and come stay with us. This meant more family time and memories made ( a LOT of laughs and were had over the supplied puzzle!) We could have homemade breakfasts together which we all had been missing.
The only issue was I truly wish we would have found this option sooner for our trips to the Houghton/Hancock area.

The EL Wright School apartment was one of the more unique and pleasant places I’ve stayed in the Copper Country. The location is convenient to MTU as well as the Keweenaw Peninsula.

The property is everything you see in the photo. The listing really prepared us for our stay. It was clean and bright and a super cool historical building that had gotten a modern makeover. The view was beautiful. The kitchen, bathroom, and laundry were fully stocked with anything you would need. The ability to walk a short way up the hill to the Bread Loafer Bakery (a treat you do not want to miss) was fantastic. We really appreciated that they kept as much of the historical details as possible. The one historical detail we could have done without was the seriously squeaky family room floors. We treated that floor like lava, it was so loud! Additionally there were two plumbing issues that I am sure will easily be addressed soon.

Our family enjoyed a wonderful weekend at The Loft while visiting our Husky. It was exceptionally clean and the location was great. Will be booking again in the near future.

I stayed here with some friends from Tech and we had a great time. The place was pretty cool and very big and open. Very comfy beds and had everything we needed. I was thinking it would work well for my family too.

The property was pretty and easy to access. I loved the tall ceilings, decor and the beds were so comfy! The wood floors were a little noisy but it’s to be expected with the age of the property. I’d would definitely recommend and stay again!

The condo is very charming - full size kitchen stocked with pots/pans/utensils to do all the cooking you want. There is also coffee and tea, as well as all the condiments and spices you need. Washer and dryer was a bonus - we could do our laundry and pack clean clothes for the return home. Quincy Mine is close by, grocery store in walking distance, and close to the main road for heading to the many beaches for rock hunting. Enjoyed our stay and already planning a return trip!

What a beautiful, comfortable & most convenient place to stay! We are grateful to rent from this owner the 1 time a year we are in town for our son's camp nearby. Clean spacious space. Well furnished. Felt like luxury after a week backpacking on Isle Royale. Grocery next door and a quick drive for dinner or exploring.

Spring Break Trip
We enjoyed our stay at the condo. It was as described, in a convenient location, comfortable, and well-equiped. The check-in and out procedure was easy also. One thing to note to others interested in this property is that you do need to walk up a couple flights of stairs to access the condo. There is a drive up area in the front to make loading and unloading easier. We had a very pleasant stay and will consider returning if we are back in the area!
