Located in Ohio, this charming house for $304 per night is a fantastic choice for your next vacation. HIGHLIGHTS OF VALLEY VIEW COTTAGE Valley View Cottage has had some exterior updates. We have replaced the siding with shaker style siding which is very cottage like. The walkway from the driveway to the front porch has been widened. The front porch and front door have been replaced. The two side decks and the sliding doors on the patio has been replaced. We now have a 12X14 Ft. pavilion on the side decks that offers shade and is waterproof. The two lower decks have been replaced and paved and are now on one level. The front yard with the pizza oven and the fire pit remains the same. We think that this is a huge improvement! The grounds include plenty of walking trails, fishing pond (fishing poles provided!) seating and a picnic table, flowers and wild berries. Enjoy your evening outside around an outdoor fire pit roasting marshmallows or making s'mores or have a BBQ on the gas grill or the stone BBQ. Or create your own pizza and cook it in the made in Italy outdoor wood-fired pizza oven. There is a furnished solar powered free standing tree house\observatory which has both a furnished upper and lower deck to view the Mohican valley, birds, deer and other wildlife. Binoculars are provided for your use at the cottage. This free standing tree house is a great place for kids to camp out. Sleeping bags and cots are provided in the tree house. This home includes all the amenities that you need to enjoy your vacation. PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE NOT A VENUE FOR PARTIES, GATHERINGS OR CEREMONIES. Home Amenities: The cottage includes three charming bedrooms, two baths, country style kitchen and a large open living room with plenty of windows to view the valley, sunsets and wildlife. The living room flows into the dining room with a dining room table with seating for six. The kitchen includes all you need to make a simple meal or an elaborate dinner. There is also a small table in the kitchen with four stools for kids or snacks. Outside includes two deck areas with lots of additional seating along with a fire pit and a Weber gas BBQ. The stone patio also has an outdoor made in Italy wood-fired pizza oven and a stone grill area for cooking food using charcoal or wood. Wood is provided by owners for the pizza oven and the fire pit. Comfortable Adirondack chairs from Amish Oak Furniture and a new picnic table with two benches complete the patio. Nearby is a new swing overlooking the fishing pond and scenic views. There is also seating on the dock and a picnic table by the pond. At the side of the cottage is a furnished solar powered free standing tree house which can sleep up to three. There are sleeping bags and cots available. Camping out in the tree house is an option with appropriate weather. Fun for kids! A whisper quiet Mitsubishi Comfort Air zoned heating and cooling system keeps everyone comfortable. A good night's rest is assured with comfy ultra premium Euro Pillow-Top mattresses. Grounds: Stretch your legs throughout this 24-acre park setting and enjoy plenty of wildlife, flowers, wild berries and quiet spaces. Enjoy your morning coffee or evening cocktail on the patio or treehouse decks overlooking the spacious grounds. If you want to take a longer walk/run there are multiple trails leading around the picturesque countryside and Mohican State Park is just minutes away with Mohican Forest being adjacent to the property. The home is accessed by a gravel driveway. In snowy weather 4-wheel drive vehicles are necessary to navigate the maintained gravel driveway. Activities: This home is situated in an area that provides countless ways to spend your days. The location, while secluded, offers easy access to all of the fun activities that the Mohican area is known for. Enjoy all water sports or rent a boat at Pleasant Hill Lake that is only minutes away. Canoeing, kayaking, rafting, 3 top-notch 18 hole mini-golf courses, go-carts and a new Aerial Adventure Course ( a harness obstacle course in the air for ages 5 and up) are located at Mohican Adventures and Fun Center ten minutes away in Loudonville. In addition, the infamous Mowery Cider Mill is close by, and guests enjoy watching and sampling the active cider pressing with original antique equipment every weekend in the fall. There are plenty of quaint spots to enjoy meals in Berlin Amish Country with a variety of shopping experiences and several Ohio wineries with wine tastings. We were 3 couples that get together every year for a weekend getaway. We loved our stay. The owners are great communicators and take beautiful care of their property. If anything, we feel their own description of the property is too modest. It's wonderful for a getaway to have some fun and laughs. Close to Mohican for some great hiking. Highly recommend a weekend stay.

We have never stayed in a property so beautiful, clean and organized and the owners even left us donuts from the Wedgewing restaurant! They thought of absolutely everything. We will definitely be return guests, as we have found our honey hole!!

What a beautiful spot! The cottage was in impeccable condition and everything was just as advertised. It was very clean and well stocked with anything you needed. The owners, Jo Anne and Mel were the perfect hosts - always available to answer any questions, left us delicious pastries from a local restaurant and all the fixings for Smores in the fire pit. We used the pizza oven, making delicious pizzas for our friends. We all enjoyed our evenings hanging out around the fire pit, There was plenty of wood stocked for us for both. We wanted for nothing. Highly recommend this cottage!

This is our second year staying at the cottage. It has a lovely yard with a fun fishing pond for the kids. We caught 4 fish this year! There is also a tree house for the kids to play in. This is a wonderful place for a family of 6 or less to stay if you love being outside. The owners are so sweet and we loved the additional touches of the apple cider and caramel corn.

The was our first couples getaway with some friends and the Valley View Cottage was the most perfect location. Mel and JoAnn are amazing hosts! They had treats from local shoppes waiting for us when we arrived, checked in to make sure we arrived safely, promptly responded when we had ANY questions and the amount of items provided in the house for us in which we didn’t have to worry about ANYTHING was absolutely amazing. We had such a relaxing, peaceful weekend filled lots of delicious pizza from the outdoor oven. Can’t wait to be back next year!

This property is so beautiful, and far exceeded our expectations. We have stayed at many rental properties, Jo Ann and Mel go so far above and beyond what is expected. I wish I could give them 6 stars, and have recommended them to all my family and friends as well. Perfect location to be close to the canoe liveries, but far enough to be away from the celebrations at same for a peaceful stay. The pizza oven and wood-burning grill were one of the highlights of our weekend, and Mel does a great job preparing all that was needed for both. The tree house is so cool, and although we didn’t spend much time in it, I could see how a family with kids might spend a lot of time there. JoAnn is a great communicator, responsive before and after our stay, and very accommodating (although we didn’t need anything that she had not thought of). The furnishings looked as if they came out of a designer magazine, and the big windows provided a view to the outdoors that is spectacular. Thanks Jo Ann and Mel, we will be back!

The only reason I gave the online listing 4 stars is because the pictures are not updated and do not give the property the justice it deserves. Your updates are phenomenal and we all kept commenting on how beautiful the place was. The location is remote and even though we were told to “stay to the left”… our GPS told us otherwise! Maybe some kind of sign at the bottom of the hill would be warranted??? Otherwise.. we all loved it and are going back next year!

This is our 4th year at Valley View and we are already looking forward to 2023. JoAnn and Mel are the perfect hosts and provide everything you need for a perfect stay. It's the little extras that make it really stand out. No need to pack your soaps, shampoos, toilet tissue, or linens. They are already there. Every kitchen appliance and cooking utensil you need...already there. Oils, spices, paper towels, garbage bags. .. already there. And always a welcome treat waiting to greet you.
The cottage is clean and comfortable. The property is beautiful. With a bit of luck you may catch a deer or 2 at play, or maybe a willing bass from the pond. (Fishing gear? Already there, of course!) If you are looking around for a comfortable and beautiful treat.... you are already there!

Mohican 100
We were in the area for my Mohican 100 trail run. Jo Anne and Mel’s cottage is absolutely wonderful. Good space inside for the 6 of us. Outside seating options around a fire, in the treehouse, and more. It was our first experience in using Vrbo and this cottage nailed it. The little details put into this place is what makes it fantastic. Menus, pamphlets for local attractions, and more. The Valley View Cottage is a place I would recommend and if we are in the area again, I would book without a doubt.

Mel and Jo Anne are gracious hosts, including little touches like a smore's basket and bubbles for our boys. We feel like family whenever we stay. The cottage is impeccable and the beds so comfortable. Aside from the amazing features of the property pictured on VRBO what makes Valley View so special and unique are all the little things; including, personal check ins from Jo Anne. The cottage offers everything you could ever need such as a fully stocked kitchen with nice dishes and cookware not your typical rental fare of random and beat up dishes. The cottage even includes a full set of spices and all the ingredients you need to make pizza dough for the outdoor pizza oven, which you must try! Even the bathrooms are fully stocked with toiletries you can literally pack clothes and go. My kids LOVED the game closet, which is by far the most stocked game closet I've ever seen with both games and puzzles for adults and kids. There was something for our entire family. Of course, my boys loved the fishing dock and tree house. My husband and I loved the peacefulness of the property and enjoyed the patio and fire pit. We all loved watching the deer come out each night to the salt lick. Valley View Cottage is a favorite family trip and now a regular for our getaways. A great location to Mohican just a few minutes away from all the favorite spots. We cannot recommend this cottage enough. By far, the BEST we've ever stayed at in all our years.

Scenic getaway
Such an incredible stay at this property! We played games, made pizza in the oven, had a campfire, hiked the trails and celebrated Christmas with family. Communication with the homeowners was so quick and friendly. JoAnne was wonderful! We hope to return this summer!

Amazing 36th Birthday
We spent the weekend visiting Jo Anne and Mel’s Valley View Cottage with two adults, two 10 year olds, two 7 year olds and a baby! We all had the most amazing time! We played board games, outdoor soccer, built a fire for s‘modes, cooked our pizzas in the wood fired oven, hung out in the treehouse, Mel even took us on a hike on the property!! Thank you both so much for such an amazing weekend!!! I will definitely be back.

beautiful fall views and darling cottage
We love Mohican area, but the place we stayed last year was booked. We found the Valley View Cottage and thought we would take a chance. As we were driving in from the East, my husband was a little worried by the houses that were vacant and one that appeared to be a sea of old RVs. We were so pleasantly surprised at arriving at Valley View Cottage. The yard was well kept and provided fantastic fall views. There are many different kinds of trees so the colors and leaf hunting was great. Our kids loved reading books up in the tree house and trying to fish at the pond. While we didn't catch anything, we did get to work on our casting. The house was clean and had generous provisions for everything we needed - great kitchen utensils, a popcorn popper!!!, shampoo/conditioner/soap provided, and lots of games. It's the little additions that made it feel like home. The windows in the family room provided fantastic views of their property and was a delight to wake up to in the morning. While we didn't use the pizza oven or make smores because it was quite rainy and wet, we loved everything about this house. Such a great property!

Jo Anne and Mel’s cottage was amazing. We celebrated our anniversary and they made it special. We loved the outdoors area. Loved making a pizza in the pizza oven. Memory Maker
This was our second stay at Valley View Cottage. Our family group of six, ages 6-70, had a wonderful time during a beautiful fall weekend. The property is outstanding, including a pristine three bedroom house, a spectacular multilevel treehouse, a stocked fishing pond, relaxing outdoor seating areas, a firepit, outdoor pizza oven, and acres to explore! You really have everything onsite, with Mohican State Park just a few minutes away. The owners communicate throughout the booking process and during your stay to make sure you have everything you need. They take pride in providing an extremely clean property that is the perfect place to relax, enjoy nature, and make family memories. We will be back!

Perfect for a close family group retreat
This is the 3rd year we have chosen JoAnn and Mel's property for our retreat. We are 3 sisters with spouses and this property meets all of our needs. First of all, the owners are outstanding hosts. They are responsive to every inquiry or need within minutes and have never failed to solve our smallest problem....no salt? no problem! Delivered to our door within minutes. I challenge you to find a rental home that is more well stocked with the things you will neeed for your stay. Soap and shampoo, dish soap, kitchen spices, every appliance imaginable. Even games, puzzles, and fishing gear. Wood for the fire and more wood for the pizza oven! It's all there.
We tend to cook more than many guests, I suspect. The kitchen is large and well stocked. Plenty of options for dinner seating from the small table in the kitchen, to the larger dining table or the picnic table outside. We challenge ourselves to find new recipes for the pizza oven. I think we used it every day this year!
The 3 bedrooms are enough to accomodate 3 couples comfortably, although we do have to draw straws to decide which couple will get the master bedroom. The 2 bathrooms are perfect for 6 of us. Don't miss the bright red tub/shower in the main bath. It is spectacular!
The great room is large with an open feeling, but honestly, we spend our time outside. The sheltered patio is wonderful for coctails in the afternoon, or just sitting together and catching up. The open patio with the fire ring is where we gather each evening to enjoy the stars and sometimes a bit of wildlife.
This year, in additon to afternoon happy hour in the treehouse, a couple of us early risers had early morning coffee on the upper balcony of the treehouse. There is no better place to clear your mind and get your day started.
I think this is a great property and highly reccomend both the accomodations and especially the hosts. We booked again for next year before we even left the property. For us, this is the perfect get-away.

The cottage is tastefully-decorated, well-maintained, well-equipped, clean, and quiet. It is a great place to relax and enjoy nature. We enjoy watching sunset and visiting deer, as well as treehouse and covered patio on the rainy day. The location is perfect - secluded on top of the hill and yet convenient to explore Mohican area.
Owners pay great attention to details and quality, and generously provides everything. Jo Anne is very friendly and make sure that we are taken care of. Mel helped reset the TV remote which was likely caused by user error.
We highly recommend this place and hope to be back for a longer stay in future.
