The Backyard - Nags Head, NC. Located in the most desirable location in Nags Head, this beautiful, totally renovated one bedroom is just 1/4 mile from the award winning beaches of Nags Head and one block from the stunning Roanoke Sound. The Backyard is the ideal retreat for a vacationing couple. This is a 100% smoke free home.
We have it all!! Beach chairs! Coolers! Bikes! Just show up with your bathing suit and beach towels and get ready to have a blast!
Completely renovated, our beautiful apartment for two is a true home away from home featuring one bedroom with a Queen bed, 32” HD TV, sliding French doors, custom tiled floor to ceiling mirror, one of a kind art, exposed beam hardwood ceiling with recess lighting, and a sitting area perfect for reading. The dresser provides ample storage space for clothes, shoes, and more. Blinds throughout provide your choice of sunlight or privacy.
With beautiful Island decor featuring unique art from the owner’s personal collection, the living room has comfy couch a 32” HD TV and love seat. This is cooled with central air for your comfort as well as ceiling fans throughout.
The fully equipped kitchen has a, microwave, refrigerator, stove with retro hood and hand laid stone backsplash, and everything you could desire to cook, prepare and serve a gourmet feast, heat left-over’s from the great assortment of fabulous restaurants surrounding our property or grill your fresh catch on the gas BBQ grill just out on the deck. The dining nook, adjacent to the kitchen has seating for 2.
The bathroom features a tub and shower and a beautifully tiled one of a kind mirror. Also, no Outer Banks rental would be complete without the essential outdoor shower! (Shared with owners) Enjoy your hot water shower under the sun or stars while the aroma of confederate jasmine fills your senses. Linens and towels are provided – just bring your beach towels.
After your long day at the beach come home and relax on your own backyard deck and enjoy the beautifully landscaped grounds with Koi pond and gardens throughout.
Also within walking distance of our apartment is a neighborhood sound beach. Here, you can enjoy spectacular views and sunsets! Bring your beach chair and relax.
We will make you feel right at home at The Backyard. This is a downstairs unit. We live upstairs. If you are coming to the Outer Banks to party, shoot off fireworks, and generally make a lot of noise this is not the place for you!! We live in a neighborhood of working people who are not on vacation. We will do our best to respect your privacy and stay as quiet as possible upstairs – just keep in mind that 3 people live upstairs and the normal amount of noise should be expected.
If you are looking for a Motel 6 or Holiday Inn type accommodation - this is not for you. But if you are interested in living with the real people of the Outer Banks - this might just be perfect. We are a laid back, fun family and offer to share our beautiful property with you and we are available to answer any questions you may have about local restaurants, etc. Whatever it is – having lived here for over 30 years – we’ve either done it, or know someone who has!
Completely restored, updated and uniquely furnished, we have missed no detail inside or out. You’ll find a cozy, turn-key-ready home away from home with everything you need for day-to-day relaxation.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
The property is a 100% smoke-free environment. This includes cigarettes, vapes, cigars, etc....Not only do I not allow smoking inside, this means you can not walk around my yard or stand in my driveway to smoke either. If you are a smoker- you might want to stay somewhere else.

Sandra’s place was really cute and comfortable with no stairs to climb. It was a nice, quite neighborhood and centrally located to places we came to see. Jockey’s Ridge National Park is less than a mile away and a must visit. Try Keyz NewZealand Ice Cream just down the road too.

This unit is delightfully whimsical. Everything you need is there. There is a lot of reading matter, including brochures for local attractions. The bed is very comfortable. There is a lot of space. The location is quiet and not far from restaurants and stores. Jockey's Ridge State park is just north, Cape Hatteras National Seashore, etc., are to the south. To the west, across the causeway and bridges, is Roanoke Island and Manteo with Fort Raleigh, The Lost Colony and NC Aquarium. The ocean is not far to the east, with numerous public access points. We had a lovely, relaxing visit, and would go again.

This was our second stay with Sandra and we had a wonderful experience! Her place is always clean, comfortable and convenient to anything we wanted to do. She’s super communicative and readily available if needed. Definitely stay here is you want the best of Nags Head and OBX! We will definitely be back!

Perfect place to spend some blustery fall weather at the beach. Totally everything you need to hunker down and be comfy. Add your own groceries or take out and enjoy the sweet comfort of this lovely place. I love visiting the coast in the off season but I can see this place would be ideal for all seasons in Nags Head. Thanks Sandra for making this place available.
