Cute historic property in Beacon Hill. Finding the entrance was a little tricky. It looks like an alley but it’s a street. It’s conveniently located near good, stores and activities and the owners were very attentive to questions. It was a great little get away.

Upon arrival the property seemed great. Great location, clean, and well furnished. Problem 1: Bedrooms were at the bottom of a spiral staircase and taking suitcases up and down that staircase was difficult; beyond my wife's capabilities! Problem 2: The TV stations were very limited so on our first night we had to go to a pub to watch the ALCS baseball game. The host suggested going to a pub. Problem 3: On the second day we started having real problems. We were in and out of the property multiple times and we realized on one return the lights in the entry foyer weren't working; we had to use our phone flashlights to be able to see to put the key in the lock. And the overhead light in the room at the bottom of the spiral staircase had quit working. We brushed off these lighting issues until later when serious problems started. Problem 4: At 11:30pm we went to take showers, NO HOT WATER and NO HEAT!! Host was unavailable that late so we went to bed. In the morning of day 3 there was still no hot water and no heat. I set the thermostat at 73° F but the temp. was down to 68°F and the baseboard heaters were cold. Host got back to us and said she had contacted building management. At @ 9am the host contacted me and asked me to open the door for the electric guys who were out front. At 3:30pm there was still no heat nor hot water so we made plans to vacate the property after returning from a scheduled dinner. Host is refusing to compensate us for the lack of these essential amenities

This VRBO truly is in the best location. Walkability is 100. Right by the Bowdoin blue line metro which gives you access to everywhere, but we mainly walked around Beacon Hill, Downtown, and the North End! There is also a Bounce luggage hold area just half a block away if you get in before check-in time, which is so convenient. Would totally stay again!

We had the best 3 night stay here. The property manager was prompt and very helpful. This listing is literally smack dab in the middle of everything. We walked the whole trip, not ever needing an Uber or taxi. I highly recommend!

Loved the historic feel. Quaint neighborhood and close to everything! Comfy beds and very comfortable atmosphere! Loved it!

Love the character of the property and the location cannot be beat. The kitchen had everything we needed for a convenient stay in the city. There are plenty of bars and restaurants surrounding this place. There were 4 of us traveling to Boston for the first time and I don't think we could have picked a better property to book.

Very nice and unique place. Close to the Tip Tap Room for a quick night cap or dinner. Great eateries EVERYWHERE!!!! This was my first Vrbo experience, and my friends joining me were quite satified. Since there is a necessity for organic flushing only, a sitsbath attachment on the toilets would be nice.

It felt like we were staying with friends. The location was perfect and everything was just as described. If you want cozy, comfortable and convenient this is the place. We will rent here again. Lucy was lovely to work with.

Nice layout inside the house. Spiral staircase is tight but adds a bit of quirky fun to the stay. House is very centrally located and worked great for us to go to the aquarium, Fenway, Ferry rides, Quincy market and was easy for us to get to north station so that we could spend time in Salem and Gloucester. As other reviews mentioned the full bath is in desperate need for updates but that alone wouldn't let me leave anything less than 5 stars.

The place has everything you would ever need and then some. Great location, walkable to many things. The only complaint is that the place is very dark. Hardly any natural light, but if you aren’t planning to spend a lot of time indoors, it’s not an issue

Stayed here for several days with two kids (11, 14) and two adults. Plenty of space and of course an amazing location. Walking distance to our freedom trail tour, historic sites and conveniences like Whole Foods and the train stations. (Adults shouldn't miss the opportunity to visit the Tip Tap room - great selection of beer and gourmet menu!)
The spiral stairs leading down to the bedrooms are a bit tricky and might be hard to manage depending on your age and condition.
You can not flush toilet paper, so that is something to be aware of.
Would stay here again.

Great difficulty accessing unit as entry is located on alleyway that was being repaved. Loud construction vehicles early in the morning as well as bright front bedroom will wake you up around 5am, bedroom can benefit from room darkening shades. If going in summer, AC is weak and bedrooms on lower level are quite warm. I'm so glad I brought a small fan, but still uncomfortable at night. Windows are filthy and need to be washed. Fans in unit are too loud to run. Building is old, I get it, but unit is in need of much repairs. Could not get oven to work. Need to turn AC unit on manually, as remote affixed to wall did not work. Upon check-in and first entry into unit it was HOT!! FYI if going in summer. Unit needs new housecleaning service, bring slippers, my feet were black.

Enjoyed our stay. Easy to get to from airport. Easy to get around. Quiet safe

The location of this property is excellent. You don’t need a car and you can walk anywhere. We were able to add another night a month out and host was responsive to our messages. The stairs are narrow so you should plan on smaller bags. We loved our visit to Boston.

The setup was perfect for my goals. Downstairs bathroom needs to be demolished. Needs more sanitary disposal for toilet paper. Coffee pot hadn't been cleaned in forever.

loved the location and apartment. Would like to have direct number to host just in case there were concerns.

The place was good for staying, though few things need to improve:
1) The fan in the rest room (upper stair, 1st floor) made too much noise. We can't stay in the rest room more than 10 sec.
2) The A/C remote-controller didn't work, so we die power on/off by manually.
Thanks,

Everything was just as described. Amazing location. Close to all the great sites. Enjoyed it and would definitely book again next time we are in Boston.

Location couldn't be better. Pipe noises were bad at night from 3 to 8 at times. No plumbing issues.

Great location, clean, and had everything we needed! Check in/out process was super easy. Would stay again! That being said, pipes in the back bedroom were very loud. I’m a heavy sleeper so it was fine but my sister ended up sleeping upstairs on the couch one night. My parents slept in the front bedroom and slept fine, not as noisy in that room.

The location and amount of space for the price can’t be beat, especially on marathon weekend. Check in and out was very easy and when we needed to communicate with host that was also easy. One of us slept on the couch upstairs and the host provided nice blankets and pillows. Beds are very comfortable and kitchen has everything you need. As stated in other reviews, the temperatures in bedrooms was a bit challenging, After talking to the host we were able to adjust the thermostat and it was much better. We had no plumbing issues with common sense use of toilet paper but it was a little concerning all the signs about not flushing anything. Pipes in night seemed to be less of an issue once we adjusted the temperature so the hot bedroom wasn’t so hot. Overall the stay was good and if I needed a place with 2 rooms again, I’d try to book this place.

It's an aged apartment that was way more roomy than we imagined. I had previously read the reviews about trouble getting luggage down the spiral staircase so we just left our luggage upstairs. Plenty of space, large kitchen, and well equipped. Regardless of any drawbacks in regard to the age of the building (i love it's historic charm), the location of this place is unbeatable. We walked everywhere and took the subway (2 blocks away) to anything not reachable by foot. What a bargain with the location of this place!!
5.0
Location, location, location - this place has that hands down going for it. North End, Commons/Botanical Garden, Newberry Street, all a short stroll away. All the positives of this place are clearly stated in the description, the beds are really comfy as well, however be aware this is an "older unit" with little updates to the plumbing and heating. The front bedroom was chilly and the back room broiling. The pipes in the walls make noise constantly, and there are warning signs regarding what you flush down the toilets can cause issues (we had no plumbing issues). check in check out was a breeze. I would foresee us staying here in the future as the location is the biggest thing for us when we travel to Boston.

I so appreciated the location. Disposal didn’t work. Couldn’t do dishes. No paper down toilets which made going to the bathroom really uncomfortable.I was so happy to have normal toilets when we left. Left a sweater behind and owner never responded. Overall a 5 out of 10. Surprised owner didn’t respond.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at this property. Lucinda provided very detailed instructions on how to access the property and shared wonderful recommendations regarding places to eat and visit. We would highly recommend this property!

This property was great for seeing downtown Boston. My family had a great time.

Location was amazing. Everything was in walking distance. Beds were very confortable with nice sheets. The only downfall was there was a small bag of trash at the front door that wasn't taken out and floors weren't clean.

The photos of the unit do not represent the property. It is not up to the VRBO standards that we have stayed in the past. The only room that was good was the kitchen. I have photos of the unit that I would like to share with you. Here is a list of a few of the disappointments.
1. The bathroom downstairs the tiles are falling off of the shower. The plaster on the wall near the commode is peeling away. Mold. We all were healthy when arrived and now all of us are dealing with headcold/allergy symptoms.
2.. 2nd bedroom closet wide open when we arrived with junk in it.
I have more comments that I want to share and photos.

Just because the building was built in the 1800's does not mean that it's extra special. The entrance to the unit is in an alley. We found it to be very loud with constant horns honking, sirens going on at all time of the day and night, and 6:45 am trash truck pick-ups twice a week. Getting luggage downstairs is a hassle. The spiral stair case is very small. Large suitcases barely make it. The bathroom downstairs has tile issues and the walls need patch and painting. The patio is really no existent. Its gravel and has no table or chairs. The windows haven't been washed in months.

Can’t emphasize enough how great of a location this property is. Such a safe feeling neighborhood and so many options for activity/food! Thanks for allowing us to stay at your beautiful home!

Small spiral staircase to bedrooms limited the size of suitcase and or person that can access the two bedrooms and bath with tub/shower. Enough windows but unable to open shades street side.
Location was awesome, I repeat awesome!

My sister and I had a wonderful time staying here. Couches and beds were comfortable. Location was great, close to the T which we took to the airport but walked everywhere else. Would definitely recommend. But, staircase may be difficult for some - especially if you have big luggage which we did not.

Enjoyed our 4 night stay. Everything was within walking distance which was fantastic. The bathrooms both need some work. The upstairs bathroom only has hot water and the downstairs which has the only shower has tiles falling off around the tub.

The property is located on what looks like an alley, not a street. The bathrooms are old and not updated—-upstairs bathroom faucet runs at a constant drizzle. Be prepared to pay a very large deposit on top of your rental fee when you book, which they will hold from then until 2 weeks after your stay. I booked eight months before I stayed there and they kept the full security deposit the whole time. When I sent 2 messages to the owner asking why, she ignored them. Then when I called her a week after I checked out asking why it hadn’t been refunded, she acted like she didn’t have any control but she magically called and got it refunded, imagine that. We enjoyed our stay there though, It’s centrally located close to everything.

The location was handy to historic sites, restaurants, browsing shops and public transportation! The property is comfortable and perfect for two couples. We enjoyed our 4 days in Boston and the only drawback would be the plumbing. Understand it is a old building so plumbing has it's limitations, but we were constantly nervous about causing a problem that would affect the entire building. But that was the only drawback. We would certainly stay there again if we came back to Boston!

This house is in close walking distance to a lot of great tourist spots. The T is also easily accessible. The home is well equipped with anything you’d need.
