Wonderful ocean front home. It is an older home so it’s smaller but has a great front and back yard, step down to the ocean!

This house has two amazing things going for it - a lovely story about how it came to be and the location. We spent 5 days here and it flew by. The views never get tiring.
The house is very comfortable and the check-in process was super easy. The property was very clean when we got in. It was well stocked with plates, glasses and cutlery. However, the pots and pans need to be replaced. They were quite worn out and old and made cooking in them (and the clean-up) difficult.
The bathrooms were in good condition and the appliances were all in working condition.
Cayucos is not a big town at all and you could easily walk from the property to all the restaurants, shops and cafes. There is easy access to Highway 1 as well.

Everything was nice - clean, etc. Except we had an ant infestation on the second morning. There was no ant spray and the ant poison containers that were in a couple locations in the kitchen were empty. There should be ant spray available.
Also, we arrived after dark and there were no lights on, and there is not address number on the outside of the house. We used the photo of the house to locate it.

We stayed here for the first time 5 years ago and I knew I wanted to come back. The house and location are perfect. We booked again for next October for 2 weeks and bringing our grandkids.
The only issue we had was not enough toilet paper and there were no trash bags. One of the umbrellas on the deck broke off the base so we laid it down on the deck. It was rusted out.
Looking forward to next year.

Cute cottage, cozy and very nice on the inside. Million dollar view. Nights are quiet, aside from the animals that make their way across the roof once in a while.
Firepit was nice, we bought wood in town.
Note that you can’t walk to town on the beach around high tide, but the walk is lovely around low tide. The walk on the road to town is just fine, low traffic.
Overall fabulous stay, would unreservedly recommend.

Loved the history of the cottage and reading the guest book. The kitchen was awesome and well organized. The furniture may have been the original couches and swivel chairs but were uncomfortable. We still loved it

The house in general was cozy and sufficient. The oceanfront Beach access was awesome! Water heater kept up with our seven family members . Kitchen was great ! Few minor things was discouraging, fireplace did not work, some spider webs that should have been dealt with, unfortunately when we were leaving we found a large area of black mold on a wall. Cleaning staff should have had that under control. Vacasa company is not being run the same as it was before covid. I had used it a few times before with great customer service. After this experience now I will never use vacasa again!

We have visited this house for years to spend Christmas with family and we love it. While it is an older home, it has been meticulously maintained, right on oceanfront. My only complaint is the new unreasonable check-out time of 10 o’clock. I was expected to strip the beds, get laundry started, get dishes done-that was really a challenge as 6 people vacated the house.

This little beach cottage was quite literally a breath of fresh air for our family! Exactly as pictured and advertised, but with lots if thoughtful extras like hooks everywhere to dry times and bathing suits, flexible additional seating indoors and out, every small appliance I could need, and a treasure trove of sand toys, boogie boards, and (our favorite) shovels! The cottage has a history you can feel, and is perched on the cliff above a lovely section of cayucos beach. It was walkable to the pier and downtown by beach or street. The generous fire pit and lovely bench overlooking the sea were family favorites early in the morning and late into the evening. Our stay was perfection, and the local manager was highly supportive and responsive with our single request (an additional propane tank for the bbq). Perfectly clean on arrival with an abundance of towels, detergent, and dishwasher tablets. We filled our souls with joy, and our bathing suit pockets with sand. Thank you!!

Traditions Continue!
I’ve been staying at this beach house since the mid 70’s as a young child. So much of life changes, and yet this house always feels like home. The house was spotlessly clean, with some noticeable improvements. The house itself is on the older side, but that adds to its charm. This has one of the best views on the Cayucos shoreline. My heart is happy!

Sweetest older beach cabin
Even though this is an older beachfront home, it has beautifully maintained through the years. You can walk right down the stairs and you are on the beach !!

We knew from the photos that this house is all about the view. The deck and “yard” are fabulous …. Even better than reflected in photos. Great location, too … an easy walk to town. For us, it was a perfect, relaxing getaway. And I’m sure it’s great for families, too.
We also knew to expected dated furniture (and a funky layout). We did not expect the furniture to be in bad shape. I tried sitting crossed-legged in one off the wicker chairs and ended up tipping over. (I was completely sober at the time.). And we noticed right off that the wicker supports in the matching chair were loose, and therefore, sitting in that chair was too uncomfortable (and unsafe).
It’s “cozy” but a little sad. If the flooring & furniture could be updated, we would have jumped on this listing much quicker. And even paid a few more dollars. And really, they need to spend $30 on a new coffee maker — as others stated in reviews, it should not take a half hour to make 4 cups of coffee.
Vacasa was very responsive when we contacted them about internet issues. (Well, after waiting on hold for 13 minutes and getting disconnected, they were.). Turns out the proplem wasn't the internet, it was that the email from Vacasa (as well as the label on the modem) had the wrong information. We eventually found it elsewhere and got it figured out. (Vacasa should also update parking information in their email …. It states to park on the driveway or in the garage … but the garage was converted to a bedroom long, long ago.). Also … for the exorbitant fee Vacasa charges, the dishwasher should have been unloaded (even if only a few dishes in it), there were no napkins, and not enough Kleenex. Plus …. One of the remote had dead batteries when we arrived.
While this property may be slightly more affordable than others in the area (and we had booked last minute so we did not have many options), a little TLC would make it worth even more .. and truly a perfect getaway rental.

Our family has rented this "cozy" home for more than 15 years each summer. We return every year. The beach, the view, the fire pit on the bluff, the back lawn, ample parking, and proximity to the great little town, all make it a favorite place to stay. This year's internet upgrade was great as we had some online work that had to be done.

Filthy home in nice location
When we checked in my wife and I noticed that this place was not clean, meaning there was one of two things that happened: the previous renters kind of cleaned up the place or the Vacasa cleaning crew is horrible. There was dirty towels in the washing machine, clean towels in the dryer, dirty dishes in the dishwasher, old food caked on the stove, crumbs everywhere, body hair all over the sheets on the bed, trash in the trash can, one extra trash bag, no trash bags in the bathrooms, hand soap bottles clearly filled up with an inch or water to extend what little soap was left, an old water heater in the driveway, no shampoo, one bar of soap, one roll of paper towel, 2 rolls of toilet paper. Did I mention the hair all over the bed? Short and curly hair. You get it.
So I called Vacasa that management company who said it was too late to get a cleaning crew over. Keep in mind the listing says enhanced cleaning is done with at least 24 hours between customers because of the pandemic...and now they want to send in a new crew? Anyway, they said the local manager would call the next day to discuss. I called VRBO immediately after and they said I needed to give Vacasa time to respond and they would give me a call within 24 hours.
The Vacasa manager texted me.... texted, not called around 3 the next day and asked what was going on. We had to explain over text that the place was dirty and filthy and that this was unacceptable, and that we would not be ok with a cleaning crew in the house since we have already spent several hours cleaning a place that we paid to have cleaned....she said she would look into it. We didn't hear back for 2 days. And that we would get a refund on the cleaning fee, which was min.
VRBO never got back to me...but sent me a survey asking how well they did in resolving all my issues! Well, VRBO somehow managed to do less than Vacasa. They closed my case and moved on.
So we never received new garbage bags, paper towels, toilet paper, soap, or anything. So on top of the very premium price you pay for this house, you get zero supplies and have to clean it yourself. And don't expect either VRBO or Vacasa to be of any assistance.
I'm sure Vacasa will say they cleaned the house....but after WE washed the sheets the hair was suddenly gone. So we bought new pillows, blankets, and such because I have no clew what is clean or not.
The house is ok. It's old and hasn't been remodeled in a long time. The view is great, the fire pit nice.

Another Great Stay in Cayucos!
Our family has been renting his home for many many years and we love it every time. It's a great location and it's size is deceptive - we almost always fill it to capacity with 8. The back lawn overlooking the beachfront and the fire pit for nightly s'mores and star-gazing are huge pluses. The surf is family-friendly and we spotted otters, seals, dolphins and whales this year. The great little town of Cayucos and the neighboring cities of Harmony, Cambria and Morro Bay can't be beat for a low-key summertime vacation. Have already booked for 2021!
