Choice of 2 swimming pools and snack bars

The staff were so welcoming and we felt right at home. Stayed for two weeks and felt it was the perfect location for walks into Chania and plenty of beaches nearby. The bigger pool was fantastic and we used the gym daily. The apartment had everything we needed and was cleaned daily. Breakfast was good (we went into Chania for breakfast a couple times to change it up though as does get boring).
We were asked not to have water by the pool that was not bought by the restaurant. The restaurant worker explained they allow the hotel to use their pools so they can say they have one. We understood but also, if you’re going to be swimming in the heat you need to be hydrated and we don’t expect to have to pay for water at the restaurant in order to do that. Felt this was unreasonable.

The place is 5 min walk from a nice beach, also bus stop outside hotel that can take you to Chania, 2 euros ticket per person, about 15 min journey; there is a small shop on the way to the beach , a bit pricey but selling most of the things you would need. There are 4 supermarkets with better prices within 10-15 min walk from accommodation. The pools and communal areas are well kept, very clean; housekeeping stuff friendly and polite doing a great job both inside and outside individual accommodations; the pool area was nice, plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas and never got too busy, there is a lifeguard there for the hours of opening. The pool bar offers a good selection of snacks and drinks, also you can order hot food from the restaurant main menu. There was evening entertainment 2 nights during our stay. The dining area is pleasant, there was a nice vibe in the evening. Overall the place looks much better in reality comparing to the photos from on the website. The reception/admin staff was great, welcoming, friendly, helpful, they answered promptly to our pre-check in questions.. Our flight back was some hours after checking out and we were able to leave our luggage at the reception which allowed us some more time for exploring the area.
There was no A/C in the bedroom, only in the lounge and it was not very efficient either. It was a really hot week and couldn't sleep much as the bedroom was getting really hot at night. We were there for a week with half board included (breakfast and dinner). Breakfast was fine, buffet style, with some cooked items, pastries, some cereals, coffee, juice and water. I did not see much alternative if you are dairy intolerant, such as different types of milk, but I have not asked either. The restaurant area is not big, not a lot of tables and they usually had 3 staff members on shift during dinner time. However they did not seem to be managing it very well. Most of the times there was a lot of waiting around to be acknowledged, offered a table or the menu or have your order taken. The table didn't get cleared in between courses, sometimes food items ordered didn't arrive and it was hard to get staff attention to ask for more drinks or food. All the dishes that we had were well cooked and tasty, compliments to the chef. The restaurant operates two different menus: the regular menu, loads of pages and food options, and the half board menu, much less options all able to fit one size of an A4 sheet.The half board menu might be alright if you spend there a couple of days but we did not appreciate it for a full week, no fish or sea food, not many vegetables, mainly tomatoes, onions and loads of french fries. I would advise if you're tempted by the half board option to request a copy of the menu in advance and make sure you're going to be happy with the options, it was the same menu every evening for the whole week and I doubt it ever changes. If we were to go back there we would not choose the half board option again, not enough options and not good value for the money.
