Nestled in Washington Island, this attractive cabin for $225 per night is a great choice for your next trip. Beautiful log cabin - sleeps 8 - 2 bedrooms and large loft with 5 beds overlooking kitchen and living area - 1 bath. Large high windows allow lots of light and view of outdoors. Ceiling fans throughout the cabin. Cabin is set far enough off road to relax comfortably on the deck and read or sunbathe and it's protected from high winds that often blow on the island. Located close to town and restaurants, walking distance to Lake Michigan shoreline. Beautiful tranquil location to enjoy the peace and slow pace of island life. Large deck perfect for cookouts and star gazing - full kitchen, outdoor grill. NOTE: Local room tax for Door County is included in nightly rate.

This cabin is the perfect place for an island vacation in the woods - clean, quiet, and convenient. We wish we could have stayed longer. Washington Island is a wonderful, hidden gem, and it is definitely worth it to visit Rock Island while you’re there.

Everything was perfect…except the condition of the deck railing, property drive and back/side of the cabin. All are in disrepair and dangerous to children! We have stayed in many, many Vrbo cabins and the outside was far and away the worse we’ve encountered. The main image of the cabin doesn’t show the boat that’s been parked for 4-5 years and dangerous for kids to play around. Or the sign that says “do not enter” to the backside of the property or the master bedroom sliding door to the unusable deck that is nailed shut with plywood. We had a great time!! Had we brought our young grandchildren we would have been very very upset. This place is perfect for adults, not children.

We had a fantastic long Labor Day Holiday weekend on the Island. I loved the laid-back nature of the Island. The local shops, eateries and bars all have their own wonderful unique charm. I only regret I didn't have time to visit each and every one.
Dan and Lory's Home-Away-from-Home is charming and rustic and quirky and comfortable and well equipped. This is not on them but I do wish VRBO would send the check-in information more than 3 days in advance. The Cabin is picturesque, on a nice quite street, near the ferry and near the main street/shops/restaurants. Everything we wanted to do on the Island seemed to only be 8 minutes away by car. *Both coffee shops are only about a mile from the cabin - the perfect morning walk* The cabin is spacious - having more than enough space for our group of 4. There is also plenty of outdoor seating and two separate fire pits. I would happily rent here again.

We rented the property to attend a family reunion. There were 5 of us and we all enjoyed the space and being in the countryside verses a hotel. There was a well stocked kitchen. The home was easy to find and just a short drive from the little town that had a well stocked grocery store . The owners were easy to get a hold of via the messaging each time I had a question. We had recently lost one of our sisters and it was a perfect place to be together. All 5 of us would choose to return to this cabin if we visit our cousins in the future.! Thankyou for sharing

Great location for access to the main town area for restaurants, bars, shops. Also great neighborhood with friendly and helpful folks, particularly Adam and Becky Steffen next door. We will be back! One bathroom was a bit challenging with 6 of us, at times, but we managed and knew that going in.

The home its self was ok. We were almost was canceled less then 2 hours before checking due to sewer back up. But that was taken care of, just couldn't check in til after 5pm.

Great location
We enjoyed our stay. I do have a recommendation though. I find it a bit surprising that the rental provides “Linens” but no towels. I would recommend that it be disclosed on the rental page so it is visible rather than sending an email two days before your check-in.
This could be a deal-breaker for some especially since towels can take up a lot of room in your luggage. As we all know when flying weight matters.
However, I do like to add, that when we called the host, she did share where we can find some towels down in the basement. We ended up buying on our own instead.

This cabin in the woods was a a great escape from the busyness of life. A great way to unplug, explore the island, and get lost in a book or a movie.

Cabin on Washington Island
We had a nice relaxing time. The cabin was just as listed. We enjoyed the outdoor firepit and indoor wood burner. Lory was easy to communicate with. Thank you so much for opening your home to us!

It was way cooler outside than inside the house there is no ac or air flow from fans pushing air
It was hot in the house and I fell down the deck stairs 2 times. I would never recommend this house to anyone unless they made some changes.

Fantastic getaway
Our family of 4 really enjoyed staying at the Porter house. It was spacious and in a nice location. We enjoyed the easy access to all the sights on Washington Island. The house is beautiful and the rooms are spacious. The kitchen has all the utensils you will need. We enjoyed using the fire pit on one of the nights. There is no air conditioning, which wasn’t a problem for us. It seemed like most places on the island didn’t have that. There also was no WiFi, but we knew that coming into it. They have an awesome selection of DVDs to choose from, which was fun for our family! We’d love to come back someday! Thank you Lory and Dan, for sharing your beautiful home!

We stayed here with two families and had an excellent time. The drive way was a nice spot to have our boys play hot wheels. We enjoyed a fire in the fire pit each night. On rainy days we cozied up inside and enjoyed cabin life!

The property is excellently located, you can (and we did) bike to the entire island from this home. Super Clean (and I am a clean freak), and homey place, Just the perfect blend of log cabin in the woods and neat as a pin with all the amenities. I arrived with an arsenal of cleaning supplies and never needed them except to clean up after us. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us.
