Acadia National Park: Acadia National Park: In 1913, President Woodrow Wilson set aside 6000 acres (within what is now Acadia National Park) as Sieur de Monts National Monument. With the acquisition of more land and private support and funding, in 1919 President Wilson signed an act establishing Lafayette National Park. In 1929 the parks name was changed to Acadia. Acadia National Park was established to protect the area's spectacular scenic values, Maine's rock bound coast, its coastal and its offshore islands as characterized by the geologic features, natural history and the native plant and animal life. Forty five miles of rustic carriage roads weave around the mountains and through the valleys of Acadia National Park, the gift of philanthropist John D Rockefeller, Jr., and family. Rockefeller, a skilled horseman, desired to travel on motor free byways via horse and carriage into the heart of Mount Desert Island. His efforts resulted in roads with sweeping vistas and close up views of the landscape. Cadillac Mountain: Cadillac Mountain: At 1,530 feet, Cadillac Mountain is not only the tallest mountain in Acadia National Park, but also the tallest mountain along the eastern coast of the United States. Rising high above the town of Bar Harbor, Cadillac Mountain offers magnificent views of the Porcupine Islands and Frenchman Bay. Explore the summit of this granite mountain along a .3-mile trail, which includes wayside exhibits about natural and human history. Portions of this trail are accessible to wheelchair users. Cadillac Mountain is accessible via a winding, narrow, 3.5-mile road. The road is closed from December 1 through April 14 and whenever weather conditions (e.g., dense fog or ice) require. Great spot. Owner very responsive if you need him. Beautiful lake, with very little boat traffic. We tubed several times per day. Reasonably close to Acadia National Park, which I highly recommend. Decent golf course nearby too. No beach but swim dock and “tiki bar” made up for that.

We had a great stay at this property with our extended family. There was plenty of room for parking and still plenty of room for kids to use basketball hoop and play ground area. It rained the majority of days we were there so we only got to use the fire pit one night. There was plenty of wood to be used and that made things much easier. Some of us were up early and throwing baits in the water at sunrise. We had plenty of success catching fish every day of our stay. There were also lots of ducks and loons during while we were there. We used the kayaks paddle boards and canoe as well. Everything was easily accessible and made the trip great for us. If you like snacks/deserts make sure you stop at the shop on the road in. We had to cut ourselves off they were so good….

We enjoyed just about everything during our stay at this house. The weather was not very cooperative the week we were there, but we were still able to use a pontoon boat and jet skis on several occasions. It was great to have a sturdy dock right on the premises which made for easy access to the pond. The house was well equipped with basic essentials, such as dish soap, sponge, laundry detergent and cleaning supplies and had good quality kitchenware and pots and pans. Our group included two babies and having the guest house with a repeat of everything that was in the main house allowed us to separate at times when the babies needed some quieter space. We enjoyed the fire pit almost nightly and just wished that there was a bit more space to all sit around the fire. All in all a great house for family gatherings. We have rented other homes with different hosts and Josh definitely was the most responsive both before and during our stay.

The main house and guest house were perfect for me and a few of my co-workers to stay for a few days while we worked. The lake is breathtaking in the morning and at sunset. The layout of the rooms are great and the kitchen had everything we needed to make meals. We relaxed next to the lake and enjoyed the fire pit as well. We definitely enjoyed our stay.

We booked this home for our trip to UMO for our daughter's graduation. The house was very clean with beautiful views and well equipped, one of the deciding factors was that it is dog friendly. We hope to come back for a summer vacation and be able to enjoy the lake, kayaking, maybe rent one of the boats!
