Nestled in Camden, this charming cottage for $285 per night is a fantastic choice for your next break. The Red Loon Cottage is perched at the head of beautiful, pristine and desirable, Hobbs Pond. Swimming, fishing and boating await your arrival. You will be awed by the cry of the loons and the siting of eagles and osprey diving for their dinner. Hobbs is one of the most sought after lakes in the area as its proximity to Camden, Rockport and midcoast Maine. World class restaurants, galleries, shops, and museums are only eight minutes away. A short 10 minute walk will bring you to the center of Hope, where you will find Hope General Store, featuring delicious pizzas or fresh deli sandwiches and ice cream. The cottage is central to great biking and two hiking preserves are minutes away. It has a generous lawn to play games on and a fire pit to cook your smores over. The cottage is lovely and is the perfect size for a getaway. There are gardens hiding little treasures for the observant eye, and the pond and surrounding views are picture perfect. The rental, check-in, and check-out processes were easy, and location in proximity to Camden, Rockland, Rockport, and other mid-coast locations and activities was perfect. It took 15 minutes or less to reach each of our destinations. We sat by the pond and enjoyed our tea each morning and our wine each evening. We prepared all of out dinners on the Webber grill, and we played countless rounds of Scrabble, UNO, and Battleship with the games our host provided. Overall, an excellent vacation. We highly recommend renting this cottage.

Overall good experience. As stated in other reviews the property is next to a public landing which had a fair amount of traffic on weekends and evenings which is why 4/5 on location but certainly not a deal breaker. Otherwise clean and convenient to Camden. Good overall value for the price

Our stay on Hobbs Ponds was very enjoyable. Great location. Steps away from the pond. Peaceful, comfortable, and close enough to Camden if you desired but far enough to get away from the crowd. Many great sites close by.

Nestled right on the water of Hobbs Pond you couldn’t ask for a better retreat if you tried. Eliza was a wonderful host and the cabin offered water activities as well as indoor for the one rainy day we had while there. It was perfect for our family of four and we thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our time there. The stars at night were something else and calm of the pond at first daylight was a dream. We will be back!

Sweet cottage with a homey and inviting atmosphere. Loved canoeing and swimming in the pretty lake and listening to the loons in the evening! The area is a magical place- Hope has a cute town center with a well-stocked general store. The area has plenty of hiking trails, pastoral rolling hills and charming New England homesteads with an abundance of wild lilys dotting the landscape. Only 8 miles to Camden and the oceanfront. We hated to leave!

This simple summer camp provided a perfect location for nearby hiking, cycling, visiting local farm-stands, and for exploring the surrounding coastal towns and villages. But we were equally contented to just 'stay put' -- as the comfortable cottage and large, shaded yard at water's edge provided a lovely view and opportunity to observe the loons and other wildlife. The dock and small 'beach' provided easy access for swimming and for use of the kayaks (at shallow end of the Pond). The host was very welcoming and generous!

We loved our week at the cottage - Eliza was great to communicate with and left fixings for s’mores, firewood, and fresh flowers! The pond was beautiful and my boys had a blast swimming, kayaking, and fishing off the dock and we loved having fires while watching the beautiful sunsets. Plenty of room in the bedrooms for a pack n play, and the house was well stocked with games and toys for kids. The location is unbeatable being able to enjoy the pond but also being so close to Camden which was totally charming! We also enjoyed walking to the Hope General Store for pizza and treats and going to the playground behind it! Thanks for a great visit! We hope to be back!

We had a very relaxing vacation. The cottage was so comfortable. The pond offered swimming and kayaking. The area was peaceful. But still close to things we wanted to see and do. Thank you for a fantastic place to spend our week!

My family loved our week at this special cabin. Some bonuses: the cabin is bigger than it looks in the pictures, one of the bedrooms overlooks the lake, there are two living rooms (we did one for the kids, one for the grown-ups!), the cabin is full of unique touches that make it homey, and the lake is crystal clear. We loved kayaking on the lake and swimming. My younger daughter spent most of her days wading and swimming off the dock, where it is shallow and sandy. Camden is so close for nights out! If you're staying for a full week with your family, I recommend bringing extra towels, washcloths, toilet paper, and paper towels, and BYO coffee, condiments, and cooking oil. The owner was very responsive and helpful!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cottage! The pond is beautiful and the location was convenient for exploring nearby Camden. The cottage was well stocked with books and games and Eliza was kind enough to provide us with s'more fixings for the firepit.

A classic Maine cottage on a lovely little lake. The kids loved swimming near the dock and paddling in the kayaks. Hope is a great little town and it was lovely to be so close to Camden.

We enjoyed a wonderful week on Hobbs Pond and highly recommend this property! The lake is shallow and good for children learning to swim. There are multiple kayaks (including one for kids - our 6yo taught himself how to kayak!) and life vests, a large yard good for yard games and plenty of Adirondack chairs for relaxing, as well as a fire pit for s'mores at the end of the day. We took one "beach day" to go to the ocean, but as another reviewer said, once you've stocked the fridge, you really have all you need right there! Eliza (host) was extremely responsive and helpful. A truly wonderful spot!

Very attentive host. Very quiet lake in mid coast Maine. Close to towns and a general store but once you have what you need you won’t leave. Enjoyed the kayaks available and the dock. Laying in bed in front of house at night with windows open and listening to the loons is unforgettable. Enjoy this space!

This property helped my family relax and rejuvenate together! The kayaks and the beautiful pond were respite for us. The cottage was well appointed in every way including charcoal and lighter fluid for grilling And fixings for s’more’s! Sleeps four comfortably with one queen bed and one king bed… With glorious Waterview… Book your stay next year!

Our family of four enjoyed our week at this cozy, lakeside cottage. The owner was a pleasure to rent from. The cottage provided ample room for our family. We really enjoyed the view from the front room of the lake. Trees along the sides of the yard provide great shade. We would love to rent this cottage again.

We had a great time, the cottage was very attractive and had great furniture and a few toys and books which our kids enjoyed. The view was gorgeous and the breeze off the pond and large open yard meant less bugs than other lakeside camps. The pond is shallow in front of the house but we still swam a ton. Kids caught (and released) a bunch of small fish. We were able to see a bald eagle and Heron up close. Nearby hiking at bald mountain and dinner at Barrettstown farmhouse were highlights. #Hopeiship
