Our LL Bean picnic table seats 6 under the red umbrella in the back courtyard. A flower garden and fountain make for an exceedingly inviting scene. *The Neighborhood: We are 10 minutes from the airport and 20 to downtown. We are in walking distance is Noodle Flat, where many of Portland's Asian restaurants line Sandy Boulevard--and Otto's Wood-Fired Pizza packs 'em in nightly. A major grocery is 3 blocks away, as is the historic Fairley's Pharmacy where you can sit at the lunch counter from the 1920s and order malteds made on the old fashion green machines. Annie's Doughnuts is just around the corner, and their fresh French crullers with maple icing are well worth the stroll. Families with young children grace our block, and parents are often out with their charges for happy hour in the evening--spontaneous street gatherings at which guests are always welcome. This is the perfect space for a single or couple visiting Portland. It's in a nice neighborhood, close to many things, and it feels private and secluded at the same time. Quiet and cozy, but has everything you need. So much better than a hotel!

My husband and I stayed in Grandpa's Bunkhouse a number of years ago and our stay this year was a bit like coming home again. Jean welcomed us and our two cats back. She went above and beyond to make our stay as pleasant as possible. We stayed two weeks spending a lot of time with our son and his family who live nearby. The Bunkhouse was a cozy and safe home base for us and the cats. I have no doubt we'll be staying again on our next visit from Minnesota.

This is a small, sweet space that has everything one needs to be comfortable. We especially loved hanging out on the cottage porch taking in the fabulous garden. There's lots here to appreciate. And, our host, Jean, was super in helping us navigate our Portland stay; she was an absolute gem.

The house was really cute with a great shower in a beautiful bathroom. The bed was comfortable. The house was private and cozy even though there are nearby shared spaces. The map of neighborhood attractions is fun. The owner, Jean, is a delightful person. We really enjoyed our stay.

Jean was the best, a discreet host of this extremely comfortable cottage. I had a completely comfortable stay during a working visit to Portland. Returning to Roseway after an active and tiring day was a pleasure. Utterly accommodating 5 star host.

This was one of the best places I've stayed at in my life. It's a solid, comfortable building that's filled with history. It's decorated with classic pictures, historical paperwork, etc. There's a huge dictionary from 1938 that gives perspective on language over time. Too much good stuff to write about. 5 stars!
