About this cottage rental
Nestled in Pelee, this attractive cottage for $346 per night is a fantastic choice for your next break. Welcome to our waterfront cottage, The Mermaid of Lorain, one of the Pelee Island’s Finest Homes, a two-story building on the very finest sand swim beach in a Cul-De-Sac! It has 3 bedrooms with Queen’s size beds in each room plus 1 pull out bed, which can accommodate up to 8 people. One bedroom (The Cleodora) is located on the main floor while the other 2 (The Nixie and The Ocarina)are located on the second floor. All the rooms and the living room have full lake views. The flooring is made of carpet over wood, ceramic and laminate. It has a full kitchen with a stove, a microwave, oven, a refrigerator, dishes, glasses, utensils, and a dishwasher. We have a washer and a dryer for the clothes. It has 2 full baths, one on each floor. Bed linens, towels, and cleaning supplies are provided. The finely decorated white wooden stair railings plus carpets on the stairs to the second floor are added safety features for the children and the elderly. You'll also find an assortment of coffee makers, dining table, breakfast table and an outdoor gas BBQ grill. There is a large back deck for outdoor sitting. Fine decorated, bright and naturally lit interior features many artworks. The Mermaid of Lorain, Pelee Island’s Finest cottage is a relaxing and peaceful home. It has indoor entertainment with high speed satellite internet, satellite TV, VCR, CD/DVD player, a large collection of CDs and DVDs, a radio, books, and games for all age groups. There is a Playpen for younger children. Heating Base Boards, Fans, and Window Air Conditioners are available. There are plenty of beach chairs and a picnic table. Pelee Island's finest sand swim beach is at your front door. Lake Erie is quite shallow near our beach.

This home is a great location, on the beach, comfortable and a great place to create memories with family and friends. I would definitely go back. Our host was always available if needed.

I have been going to Pelee Island since the 80's and this is the second stay at Mermaid on Lorain. The location on the Island is amazing with some of the best sandy beach front on the Island. The house is very nice and had a lot of the essentials. We look forward to going back next year!

This was the second time my friends and I stayed at this cottage and we had a blast! The only thing that we had trouble with was the cleaning process at the end of our stay. My friends and I spent half of the day before and the morning of our check out date cleaning and we still somehow got charged with a cleaning fee. The only thing we forgot was to take out the garbage, which is a $10 fee but we also got charged another $30 for an hour of interior cleaning even when we had left the house cleaner than we received it. I understand the garbage charge but my friends and I should not have been charged that extra $30.

Great little place right on a sandy beach! We were there for the pelee half and made a vacation out of it by staying an extra few days. Very worth it!

This house was amazing. Comes with all of the essentials. Just bring your clothes and food. The property manager is very nice and easy to communicate with. Overall a great experience. Will stay again

House as advertised. Rooms were big with air conditioners in the bedroom. Fit our family of six perfectly. Nice location and view of the water however there were lots of burs on the property so be cautious if you have little kids and make sure to wear shoes even on the beach. As many reviewers commented there were many black flies that bite.
Also, you need to clean the house yourself and wash the bedsheets and towels before leaving so we brought our own sheets and towels to avoid this.

The house is very spacious and cozy and has everything you might need. The view of Lake Erie is amazing, we felt like we were at the ocean. It was like having our own private beach, we only saw a couple of people walk by during our entire stay. The sunrises and sunsets on this island are amazing! We plan to visit again.

We had a wonderful time at the Mermaid of Lorain. The cottage is comfortable and nice and the sound of the waves at night is so peaceful. The kids loved swimming and playing in the sand. It's a really beautiful place.

We are life-long Pelee people who just needed some extra space as a bunch of family came in at the same time. This cottage is on some of the best beach area of the island and had all we that was needed to accommodate our family (of 5) and my brother's family (of 4).

My friends and I stayed for the weekend of the Pelee Island Half Marathon and enjoyed our time very much! Plenty of places to sleep. Beds were comfortable. The location and the beach are gorgeous! Lots of room to spread out with it being a 2-story. Would love to go back again!

The cottage was easy to find & checkin to. The property managers greeted us and were very friendly and informative. My only complaint is there are a lot of bugs and black flies in the morning that attacked my friends and I for our morning walk on the beach but we lived! Loved the access to the beach right in the backyard. The place was very tidy when we showed up and we left it tidy when we checked out.

Lovely location on Sunset Beach. This cottage has most of the basics for a comfortable stay. However, prepare for a long morning of cleaning and laundry before you leave. A surprise, page long list of cleaning requirements was not mentioned in the listing. We had to haul our own garbage off the island. Cottage was full of spiders, dead bugs, and cobwebs. BBQ did not work. No shampoo provided. This place could be nice with some maintenance and cleaning. Generally did not live up to the expectations created by the listing and price point

We had a great time at the cottage! The utilities were all working perfectly, they had all kinds of kitchen supplies, beach chairs, umbrella etc. The place was organized and clean when we got there and it was very easy and smooth to check in.
If you have kids, they have playpen :)

This is a very relaxing and quiet place to come for a vacation from the busy-ness of life! We stayed here last summer and enjoyed it so much we came back again this year. Since last year, great to have the addition of chairs that are suitable for around the campfire and the privacy added to one of the bedrooms upstairs!
