We were there in early June. The property was perfect for our needs… relaxing with a small number of family and friends. The garden and house layout was quite open and spacious.We appreciated the friendly bird-loving neighbours and the unbelievable numbers of different kinds of chirping birds (20), a daily visiting mallard, an eagle that swooped down and caught a fish right in front of the dock, a turtle swimming in the lake and many others in the creek, lots of fish jumping out of the water, a few squirrels, a mouse in the woodpile, and a couple of bunny families. The sunsets were incredible, and we were able to catch incredible sunrises from the dock as well. It felt a bit like being in a Disney movie. The boat launching dock wasn’t lowered down to the water yet, but we didn’t end up doing any kayaking since we were happy to spend time catching up with old family and friends (I grew up in the area and was visiting).The house happened to have a couple of yoga mats convenient for my morning stretches which was a nice bonus. There was also an extra single bed and seating area at the back of the house that I don’t think was mentioned in the features.We had some problems with both toilets (not draining properly)… one got fixed promptly. The other was going to require removal to fix, so we managed fine with just the one for the 4 night stay. Stuff happens.We would be happy to stay here again should our circumstances allow another visit.

The location of this property is great, and the backyard is quiet and enjoyable. The owner was responsive, allowed for early checkin and late check out which we appreciated. HOWEVER, we wouldn’t recommend this rental in its current condition, disappointed in what others had reviewed as a 5 star property.*The interior of the house has a strong damp, musty smell, which seems to be related to past flooding (we understand the area was under about three feet of water at one point). A dehumidifier runs constantly, which helps a bit, but the issue doesn’t feel fully addressed.*Cleanliness was a concern. The bathroom vent was thick with dust, the bottom of the shower curtain had visible pink mold, and the floor showed dirt in the corners. Sheets on one bed had dark stains on them. One bedroom had pillows with an unpleasant smell. The overall feeling inside the house was not healthy or comfortable.*In addition, the floor slopes, which causes beds in two bedrooms to tilt affecting sleep. Some sections of the floor also felt unstable underfoot, with one vent on floor unsecured.*While we appreciate the potential of older homes and the charm of this location, this rental currently does not match the expectations that come with its price. We hope the owner is able to address these issues for future guests, but we personally would not stay here again or recommend it to others.PS: after informing the owner post-stay, the issues were promised to be addressed.
