About this condo rental

Located in Lexington, this charming condo for $135 per night is a great choice for your next trip. The Howard was built in 1920 in the back yard of an c.1840 Antebellum Mansion on Lexington's swanky West Third Street. In fell into disrepair and we bought it in 2007. We turned the existing eight apartments into five renovated condos with all the modern amenities, but preserving all of the vintage charm. They are small and incredibly cozy with a great room with opening windows on the second floor. We refinished the hardwood floors, cleaned all the window and door hardware, repaired windows, and fixed plaster. We hired one of Lexington's best architects to fit a modern kitchen into a vintage kitchen space. We fit in a laundry, dishwasher, beverage center and microwave that formerly only had a two burner stove and two cabinets. This apartment is located on the second floor of the building. It is only 650 square feet, but thanks to our brilliant architect, it feels much larger. We are confident that as you drive through the stone arches of Hampton Court you will realize what a special corner of Lexington it is, on the site of a former orphanage and alongside the oldest University west of the Alleghenies, Transylvania University. We strive to please and feel that our apartment can fill a significant niche in Lexington travel, but realize others have varied needs not served by The Howard. This property is in a lovely historic neighborhood and just blocks from downtown. It was spacious and clean and just as represented. We will stay here again the next time we are in Lexington!

We enjoyed our stay here so much! It's the perfect little home away from home. The location is amazing with plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance. The property is well stocked with cooking basics in the pantry, shampoo, conditioner, makeup wipes, a hairdryer, lotion, body wash, etc. It had everything we needed and more! The historic property is so beautiful, tucked away on a quiet street yet in the middle of downtown. We will definitely be back! Would definitely recommend this property to anyone considering :)

My wife and I stayed the weekend to see the Lexington Lab Band. The property was well setup for our weekend stay. Walking distance to restaurants. The bed could be a bit firmer, out side of that very nice place. We would stay there again.

What a great place to stay if you are visiting Lexington! As a first time visitor to Lexington, I was nervous about finding a place to stay in a good area. The Howard exceeded all expectations. For starters, the apartment was immaculate. It’s quite homey and in a wonderful location. The pictures do not do it justice. Walkable to great restaurants, and dog friendly. The hosts also left a notebook full of useful information regarding things to do, places to go, etc. I never heard noise from other tenants (and I had an extensive stay) and communication with the hosts was super quick. Highly recommend staying here, and I will definitely rebook whenever I come back to the area!

Great location downtown in historic neighborhood. Brought dog and was easy walkable area. Apartment is terrific - my one complaint is that the floors are really loud bc building is creaky and old/historic so I was on the second floor and it sounded quite loud upstairs every time someone walked. But owner was terrific easy to communicate and work with and it was a good place to stay!

If you want to enjoy downtown Lexington in a safe, authentic and historic area, this place is for you! The upgrades in this space give you all of the modern amenities without losing the historic charm of the city. The location is perfect. The owners were very responsive and helpful. I would definitely come here again!

The studio was just adorable. It was clean, and had everything we needed to be comfortable. The mattress was very comfortable, and so was the couch. I forgot my toothbrush and surprisingly I found a new one in the drawer unopened for use so I was so relieved. The location was perfect for us since we ate dinner downtown each night. There were plenty of restaurants within walking distance if we chose not to drive. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a well kept, safe, and very reasonably priced stay in Lexington.

We loved our stay at The Howard! Exactly as described. The apartment definitely feels more spacious than 650 sq ft! Great location that is walkable to several restaurants and a brewery. Very clean, nicely decorated and furnished, well stocked kitchen, comfortable bed and nice linens. The guidebook provided contained everything guests would need to know about the area. Highly recommend!

Our reason for staying was just a place for the night to split up our 11 hour drive and it turned out to be a wonderful surprise. The pics are great but it was even better in person. We also looked at the book for guests and took her suggestion for dinner at the Blue Heron which we could walk to and it was delicious and perfect. Would recommend to everyone and stay there again if in the area.

Just stayed the night but wish I was able to stay longer. Close to everything in Lexington for the 2 of us it was amazing. Owners are friendly and informative. Place was clean so no issues. Walls are a little thin but it wasn’t a big deal. Plan on staying here again in the future.

This flat was stylish, comfortable, safe and in a great location. We were only put for one night with not a lot of time but the owner's binder with info was SUPER helpful! I only wish all owners had such a flair for the details! We will be back to Lexington for a longer stay next time. There is so much to do! I definately recommend this rental!

This apartment is adorable! It's an older apartment with renovations but not overdone. It's in a really nice neighborhood. They provide an interesting historical background and good local food and activity recommendations. An overall lovely stay!

This place was very nicely furnished in a beautiful neighborhood. It was very quiet and had everything we needed. We were able to easily walk to food spots and the Rupp arena area. Perfect spot!

The place was clean, quiet and accurately described on the listing. The two things that could use an adjustment are the bathroom door will not close all the way and the mattress was not comfortable (but that may just be a preference thing).

We booked last minute for Lexington. The host gave us a couple options beyond our original booking that helped. The location is on a relatively quiet street. A few stairs up the back and you are in the apartment. Modern, clean and comfortable everything.

The apartment was lovely, beautifully remodeled old building. It was comfortable and close to some things I planned for my visit to Lexington. A friend and I walked down to Broadway and Main Street for dinner which was an easy walk. I was a bit confused about which building I was going to, my fault, I was tired and had driven all day the rental is behind another large apartment building facing the street. I would have liked to know that I needed to climb some stairs to reach the rental. Fortunately it was only a problem when I was taking things in and out and for walking my dog. There is a lot of ambient light due to the dormitories near by so black out curtains in the bedroom would have been nice. I enjoyed staying there, beautiful historic area.

The renovation of this property was impressive. A lot fit into the small space, making it work for my husband and I, along with our little dog Lucy. The property is in walking distance to several restaurants, and the downtown. We loved it!
