Very chic and cool boutique hotel. Nicely renovated with intentional design. Very friendly staff. The breakfast was very nice with a personal feel. The personal touch makes it feel like you have your own little place in an apartment building.
We stayed in the smaller room, which do not have a ton of extra space to unpack your luggage. It can be really hot in Athens in August.

The most thoughtfully designed hotel, massive rooms with so much character and delightful communal spaces that were spread out so it felt like you had the place to yourself. Bathrooms in particular are gorgeous.

The hotel's location is good, pretty close to the old city center. Also, the street where Shila is located is quiet and the backyard view was a very nice surprise, with orange trees in bloom, a dream. We slept with the windows open and it was perfect. The rooftop terrace was a beautiful place to take breakfast, it had a boho vibe.
The 1920's air was way too present for us, we expected a different accommodation from the pictures, but the reality was different. The smell in the room was of old furniture, and all the other materials seemed and smelled old. We didn't find it as comfortable as we hoped, but actually quite cold and dark. The entire room had cement on the floor, including the bathrooms. The toilets had the old system of flushing, which took forever for the water to fill again the water tank from above the toilet. The shower space in one bathroom was extremely small, if you moved a bit more there was water in the whole bathroom. The second bathroom had a practically unusable shower - meaning a big round pipe with holes in the ceiling which was filling the whole bathroom with water, including the toilet paper, towels, door, everything. It's not a solution using the towels as mops to clean the water in the bathroom, and it's not reasonable either. In the event of wanting to use the toilet again after showering, you had to wet your feet, slippers, and eventually slip before getting to the toilet.
We were disappointed not to find any fresh vegetables for the breakfast, and it was the same fixed menu every day, no variation whatsoever.
In the last day we asked the reception if they could call a taxi for us for the airport, which they did, but didn't inform us that the taxi charges a fixed amount to the airport (because is form Shila), not the amount they actually have on the meter. Useless to say the amount charged was higher.
The value for money was very, very poor, we don't consider repeating this experience again.
