The breakfast provisions provided were a lovely surprise and of an excellent quality. A good representation of the local produce available. The homemade jams etc were also delicious.

Everything but especially Helen’s kindness and generosity. The Vindolanda tickets were a bonus, on top of all the fresh bread, cakes and produce.

Helen and Damian were incredibly helpful and generous. We were on foot and Helen kindly picked us up from the train station and saved us a half hour walk up the hill with our luggage. The location was perfect for visiting Vindolanda (only 15 minutes walk on a stunning path and track) and catching the AD122 Bus to different parts of Hadrian’s Wall.

As far as I can remember, the let was self catering. That said, there was a home made cream sponge cake and a home made loaf of bread waiting on the dining table. There was also home made jam and marmalade which were lovely. There was also bacon and eggs in the kitchen. The log fire was well supplied with logs and made a lovely end to each day. There was electric car charging facilities.
There was no DVD player (the netflix mitigated this somewhat). The cracks in the bathroom ceiling took away from the otherwise excellent bathroom decor.
