It was quaint, cosy, clean and very well equipped. The fresh flowers and treats were a lovely touch too.

Catherine was very friendly and had left a welcome pack and some flowers which was a nice touch. She allowed me to rearrange the furniture to suit me. As I didn't use the log burner, I moved the table in front it so giving much more space in front of the worktops. The kitchen was well equipped although I used my own cups, cutlery, oven gloves, tea towels etc. Not a reflection on what was provided but I always use my own items. I did feel that the lighting in the kitchen wasn't too good until on the last night I discovered that there were under-cabinet lights each of which had to be switched on manually! Senior moment, I guess. It was a cosy cottage and the bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The shower was very nice too. The cottage is in a very quiet location but a good base for exploring Hadrian's Wall and other attractions. I would be happy to stay again.
Information about refuse separation and collection could have been explained better. It was only by looking on the council website that I found out that half of the stuff I had recycled (in the same way as I do at home), goes in general waste instead. The indoor bins were also located inside a cupboard at the opposite end of the kitchen so I moved them behind the kitchen door instead. Apart from the bins, there was nothing that I didn't like.

Beautiful little cottage in a wonderful location, would definitely stay again.
