We had a wonderful time staying here in Charlevoix. It’s within walking distance of downtown and a short drive to other day trip activities. The view of Lake Michigan is spectacular, the neighborhood is quiet and secluded enough from the downtown area that it’s peaceful but not far away. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed - the property manager was very helpful too! We hope to stay here again!

We had the best time. Thank you for sharing your house.

We really enjoyed our stay at this house. It is in a great location: right across from the lake and easy access to town. The house was perfect for 2 couples to stay at while we explored Charlevoix, Petoskey, and Mackinac.

We loved the property! We was cool staying there! We had fun waving to people driving by for the mushroom house tours. Such. Peaceful, relaxing setting.

This home is a lovely place to stay! It is clean, comfortable and what a view!! It is in a nice neighborhood with other Mushroom Houses. Close to a nice park, the lighthouse and downtown Charlevoix. Lots of restaurants and shops. The Mushroom House Tour is a must-so fun and informative! Communication with the host was easy as was accessing the house. We highly recommend this property.

My sisters and I had a sister get away and this was perfect!! The house was clean, comfortable and the view out the living room window was the best!! A nice quiet neighborhood with amazing homes to see. Close to town with plenty of restaurants and shopping. The Mushroom House Tour is a must. We also enjoyed the local museum and The Circle of Arts. Plenty of things to do or just relax at the house and enjoy the view. Thank you for sharing your home.

This stunning early Earl Young boulder cottage is located in the quiet Boulder Park area of town. I've stayed at many rentals, and this one is hands down the cleanest and most well-appointed. Nothing was overlooked, from multiple coffee options, to an extremely comfortable bed, to the soap in every bathroom.
Maybe not as critical to renters, but impressive to me: the attention to detail is also clearly apparent in the décor. The light fixtures are unique, beautiful, and appropriate for the style of the house. Even the switch plate covers are gorgeous. Did I just write about switch plate covers? Rent the house, and you'll see why!
Of course, the views are spectacular. The large front window with comfy chairs faces directly north, so you are treated to side views of sunrises and sunsets. Grab your beverage of choice, settle into a chair, and watch the day come or go in this peaceful space. When night takes over, turning on the gas fireplace is a breeze and provides warmth and a golden glow to the living room.
When you are ready to leave the house, it's a very easy 1 mile walk into town. This time of year (early April), many businesses are still closed for the season, but there were still good places to enjoy a meal. Once you had your fill of downtown, there are so many places to explore within an hour drive in any direction.
I would highly recommend this boulder cottage, and I hope that we find a time to visit again!

I cannot say enough good things about my stay here. It was so beautiful and peaceful. It was a very quiet place and so clean! I’m already making plans to return!

The highlight of this property is the beautiful view of Lake Michigan out the picture window. It was cool to be there in late winter to watch blue waves hit the shore, but I can imagine it is pretty cool to be there in the summer we you just have to cross the street to be in the lake.
The house itself is of course unique architecture that's very cool, both inside and outside. The house has great amenities -- very nice and stocked kitchen, gas fireplace, and spacious bathrooms and showers. One of the more impressive aspects of this home is that they did a great job updating the home to have the modern amenities that you would expect in a kitchen and in bathrooms, but they really matched the architecture so that it feels like a proper update.

Wonderful property and host. The property management company does a nice job and Jeanne the host is quite hospitable. As luck would have it it rained most of our time there. But it was still wonderful. The pictures almost do it justice. It really is quite wonderful. Kitchen is top notch. The front window is inviting with a good book and now with a gas fire installed in the beautiful fireplace you’ll be hard pressed to leave home. We’ll be back!!!

Sister/Mom trip to Charlevoix area to see fall foliage. Jeanne’s cottage is an early Earl Young mushroom house, completely remodeled on the inside. It’s cozy, private and one of a kind.
Great location looking out on Lake Michigan… great place to hunt for Petosky stones and watch sunsets. Enjoyed the kitchen and fish from John Cross. Comfy beds and great water pressure. Cozy gas fireplace and great views.
We had a great time touring the local towns, and visiting Macinac Island. If you get a chance to stay here, take it!

Very comfortable 2 bedroom, 2 full bath, Earl Young framed home. Memories made while sitting with coffee in the morning watching the wildlife and lake are priceless. Searching the beach for Petoskey stones. Reading the life story of Earl Young, the "architect" of this amazing structure. Highly recommended! Very communicative host.

Positives: beautiful view from front window of Lake Michigan. Short walk across street to an area with chairs to sit and enjoy Lake Michigan. Very close to downtown Charlevoix with good dining options and shopping. Walking distance to a large beach area. Nicely updated interior. Great internet connection!
I would definitely stay there again. Absolutely beautiful area!

The property was clean—right down to the windows. All of the appliances worked well, which hasn’t always been our experience in vacation rentals. Wi-Fi and tv reception were fine. Excellent view of lake. Great deck. We are all readers, and wished for better lighting in the evenings, but that’s a minor point which could be solved with LED bulbs.

Gorgeous- If you can imagine, it is even better than described! The home was clean and well appointed. We couldn’t ask for anything more! It was so relaxing to sit on the deck and watch the Lake Michigan waves peacefully wash upon the beach.

Very clean, updated historic cottage with plenty of room for 4 adults. Beautiful views of Lake Michigan from sitting area, while cooking in kitchen, and dining on the deck. Easy (about) mile walk to stores, restaurants and marina.

Amazing stay on Lake Michigan!
My family and I loved staying in Jeanne’s comfy cottage on Lake Michigan. In addition to the incredible views, we had everything we needed to cook meals in the cottage (great oven, grill, lots of equipment, etc.) and appreciated little touches like the outdoor chairs and sand toys. It’s in a highly walkable location. We also enjoyed learning about Earl Young and the local mushroom houses (must be okay with tour groups coming by frequently to take photos).
We will definitely be back when we’re in the area next.

Wonderful!!
My husband, two adult sons and I stayed at this delightful stone cottage and loved every minute of it! Great location right across from Lake Michigan. It's a nice walk to town if you're so inclined. The house is well appointed and the deck has been replaced since these photos were taken. Jeanne was very prompt in responding with recommendations and replies to inquiries. This was a bit of an extravagance for us but the memories are priceless. We would happily stay here again!

Quaint neighborhood with Lake Michigan view
This historical home is cozy and located in a great walking neighborhood that is a short walk from downtown Charlevoix shops and restaurants. The view of Lake Michigan is spectacular. The property manager was very responsive and quickly worked to resolve a couple issues we encountered upon check-in. Overall a very nice stay and experience!

This is a 6 star experience on a scale of 1 to 5 . I think the only slight inconvience is a full bathroom located off kitchen that not attached to smaller room . It's a minor inconvenience compared to everything else .

For the time of year we came it was very cozy experience at this Vrbo. My wife and son (7 months) loved it. Coffee in the morning while checking out the view is tough to beat. Wish we could have gotten a sunset at night but that’s Michigan weather. We would love to come back some day!

My two good friends and I stayed at this property for a quiet girls weekend away from Metro Detroit.
Our weekend was cold and rainy, and the cottage was incredibly toasty and cozy. Just perfect. The kitchen is beautiful with very nice appliances, and the bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and spacious. It was amazing to wake up each morning and sit at the giant picture window, drinking coffee and looking out on the frozen lake. It was so very peaceful and lovely.
This cottage far surpassed our expectations, and we would stay there again in a heartbeat! Such an incredible property to be able to stay in!

People LOVE to tour the "Mushroom Houses" of Charlevoix. But with this house you get to LIVE in one of those houses! The only real negative was that the beach was across the street from the actual house. However, we still enjoyed many a bon fire on that beach. So that's a small negative

The cottage was just absolutely charming and cozy inside with a fabulous view of Lake Michigan. Beautiful stone and tile are found throughout. Loved learning about the history of the house and Earl Young's work and life. The kitchen was well-stocked with dishes, plates, cookware, etc. Unfortunately, the fireplace was in the middle of being converted to gas and we were unable to use it but that did not ruin our stay at all. The master bath was hard to keep warm, especially since it is done completely in beautiful stone tile. However, we would simply turned the heat up while we showered and that seemed to help. Whatever slight drawbacks there were, they would not deter me from renting this beautiful cottage again.

Beautiful old school well kept home in premium location. Ideal for a romantic getaway or small family. All that is missing is a working fireplace but that is not enough to deter anyone from enjoying this special home.

We had the most wonderful vacation staying in charlevoix at Jennie’s beautiful mushroom home. She was very accessible to us at all times and the home was so comfortable! We had all the things we needed for our stay and the kitchen was fully stocked with essentials and beautiful pots, pans and dishes. The view was amazing and the fire pit on Lake Michigan made for a perfect end to a beautiful day. We will definitely stay again. Thank you!

My wife and I stayed at the Earl Young Cottage January 22-25th 2021. It is a very interesting and unique place, but didn't live up to our expectations. The house is felt very cold in the winter, especially the master bathroom. The heating system doesn't seem to be able to keep the house comfortable. The window screens could use a good cleaning - most have dust and cobwebs. Except for the bedrooms, there are no curtains, blinds, or drapes on ANY of the windows or doors. At night you are living in a fishbowl for anyone walking or driving by to see. The amenities list a fireplace, but there is a sign in it that says Do Not Use Decoration only -kinda of misleading. For the high cost per night, I expected better.
