While the house is located in NC, the VA border is within sight. There are several natural areas up Poplar Creek within a short kayak trip, including an island, making for fun areas to explore on a kayak trip from NC to VA and back. Off the water, enjoy the many outside seating areas, smores at the firepit, or a game of cornhole. The nearest boat ramp is the Poplar Creek Boat Ramp about 3.5 miles by car from the house. Boat rentals are also available near the boat ramp at Poplar Pointe Marine. Take a trip for lunch or dinner by boat or car to the Shady Shack located up Poplar Creek, also near the boat ramp. There are more lake-side restaurants on the lake, approximately a 5 mile boat ride to The Pointe and WatersView restaurant. For a nearby off-shore excursion, the Rosemont Winery is only 4 miles away by car.
