About this house rental
Nestled in Three Rivers, this attractive house for $375 per night is a fantastic option for your next break. Alta Vista Peak is a three-level, three-bedroom mountain river home with a cabin feel located in Three Rivers, California. The property has been completely remodeled. The two bathrooms were built using a large amount of river rock to help create a mountain river ambiance. There is a fireplace on the main floor and a wood burning stove in the master bedroom. The kitchen was created with a gourmet chef in mind! Lots of room and high quality appliances to prepare meals to perfection. There is a large deck that overlooks the entrance to Sequoia National Park. From the deck and all the east facing windows is the spectacular Morro Rock. A solid granite rock similar geologically to Yosemite’s Half Dome. Nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas, Three Rivers sits in one of the most scenic locations in California, the Kaweah valley. Nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas, Three Rivers sits in one of the most scenic locations in California, the Kaweah valley. The three forks of the Kaweah River flow with amazing wonder from Mineral King and Mount Whitney through the town. Some of the most famous artist in America have carved or brushed masterpieces of nature’s beauty from this location. The valley is the gateway to Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. The Parks, which possess the largest tree in the World (General Sherman), the highest peak in the continental United States (Mount Whitney 14,505 ft), and is also the location of some of the oldest living trees (the Bristlecone pines 4,767 years old!). Both Men’s Journal and Outside magazine recommended the trails of these parks as some of the best hiking experiences in the world. Alta Peak Vista is a labor of love. Inspired by the incredible beauty, which surrounds it, we have created the ultimate retreat of comfort. It will fulfill the needs of a wonderful honeymoon, a family outing, or an adventurous vacation.

Great Location, Awesome house, and perfect getaway
Overall this stay was better than expected. Arriving to the house you're gonna first notice the dirt road mentioned. Its a little unkept a few pot holes that gave us a scare when we were heading up the dirt road at night time, day time isnt bad. One of our trucks got stuck and we had to give a little push for it to get traction. The master key lock that held our key to enter was broken. With the help of our temporary neighbor, we were able to contact jerry through his phone and worked everything out so wasnt a big issue gave us time to meet the dog RINGO who is VERY RESPECTFUL AND FRIENDLY. The time we stayed ringo was there day and night we felt as if he was protecting us lol he loved meat. Sign said not to feed animals but come on if your grilling meat outside and the dog is iut lookin at you, you tend to give in. We explored the mountain behind the house we hiked up all tr way to the peak. Careful if you try as the grass is very loose and breaks and you can slip easily. House was 8/10 only an 8 because dishes were dirty and a lot of supplies didnt work. House is well maintained plenty of towels,tp,untensils, and space . 🤙🏽

This house fit our family of 10 perfectly. The views from the deck were amazing. And we loved exploring the hill side around the property. We are also dog lover's, so having Ringo come for visits wasn't an issue. I would gladly request to stay here again if the need ever arose.

This property could be a very nice experience if a little TLC and elbow grease were put into it. The location was great, but a bit hard to get to it. Just as stated in previous reviews, the driveway from the main road is long and very rough. Once we got to the house, we couldn't help but notice the house next to it. Very unkept and filled with junk all around it. When we got up to the deck, the view is phenomenal, but can't help feeling like we were near where the movie "Deliverence" was filmed, with the neighbor next door. He happened to turn out very nice, but if you don't know this guy, he looks a bit scary. Then he tells us that Jerry asked him to take trash out of garage to be picked up, so he wanted us to leave garage unlocked. Felt a bit uncomfortable with that, but it turned out to be fine. The neighbor has a large dog, as noted in other reviews, but he did not seem to be a problem. We were told that the neighbor is planning to move soon, so hopefully whoever buys the place will clean it up. The outside of the house we were staying in could certainly benefit from a good power washing. Cobwebs on all the windows. There is a very nice deck off the porch which was nice, except that there were yellow jacket bees that made it impossible to enjoy eating outside. The neighbor said that he has put out traps, which we saw, to catch the bees, but they were everywhere!.
So moving inside. Jerry has done some remodeling and it was very nice. There were some concerns with how the place had been "cleaned". There is a beautiful copper farm sink in the kitchen, but it was had a bad odor and I had to clean it before even using it. The stairway down to the garage appeared to not have been cleaned in quite some time, as well as the rugs in the main level bathroom. They were so dirty that I put towels on them to stand on. Jerry needs to consider getting someone else to clean between peoples staying there.
Now for the furnishings. This place looks to have been furnished by leftover or used furniture. The beds were old and worn out, pillows were flat and uncomfortable. The A/C did not work in one of the bedrooms on main level. Also, the light going to the upstairs has an electrical problem. We couldn't get it to turn off unless the switch was just between on and off. Not safe. Light in kitchen would not turn on. Overall this could be a nice place, but Jerry needs to invest some money and get people who will clean the place up.

The house was conveniently located near the park entrance. The lay-out, and the size of the house fit our needs perfectly. It has a nice deck that looks out at Moro Rock. Unfortunately it was too hot to use during the day. However, we utilized the deck after dark for star gazing with a telescope. Great exposure and a dark sky to enhance the star gazing.

The long dirt driveway was unkept, overgrown, and potholed with deep puddles.
From the outside, the house looked fine. However on entering the foyer, we were met with the smell of old dirt. The house was not clean. Mouse droppings adorned the garage floor with the sounds of mice echoing in the walls. The furniture and bed were older and in need of a good clean. Few things were newer, but not enough to distract from the old.
Across the shared driveway, there was a house that appeared abandoned with boards over its windows, but was notheless inhabited by a shirtless man who spent a lot of time staring at us from his front yard (adorned with ancient vehicles, hoods open). During the afternoon, the police came to visit the neighbor, who didn't answer his door, but soon he was outside again.
Then around 10:30 pm, someone tried to break in through the kitchen window. After 30 minutes, 25 officers showed up in force. They asked us if we were armed and we were told to defend ourselves and advised to kill the burglar with a kitchen knife--- we were assured no charges would be filed. They expressed little surprise at the call.
We left the house and slept into my car for the remainder of the night far away from the rental, fearing a return visit, and another 30 minute wait for authorities to arrive.
We use VRBO several times/yr... this was a first.

The property is decent but overrated! The Windy unpaved road is a bit remote and hard to find. The dog Ringo is overly friendly and would not leave us alone he wanted to join our meals and seemed always hungry. The house was clean however the towels in the master bath were not fresh? They smelled bad. The living room was cozy but dim a few bulbs were out. The view was spectacular and aside from the above details we had a lovely stay.

We couldn't have been more satisfied with our stay. The location was perfect! Nine of us stayed in the house (all adults) and we had plenty of room to move around and hang out. We brought a couple of blow up beds and only used one. The house was clean and comfortable. We had everything we needed in the kitchen and there was plenty of seating.
We had a wonderful time in Sequoia and Kings Canyon. We saw several bears, deer, marmots and chipmunks. We were surprised to find the waterfalls still had water - given the drought. We can only imagine how beautiful they are when the rivers are full. We also visited Crystal Cave which is highly recommended for those able to hike.

We stayed over the Fourth of July weekend , children and all. For us, the kitchen was the best amenity as we stocked up in Visalia on our way there and had provisions for three days. We cooked breakfast, made lunch to go and prepared dinner. That really saved us money!! This place is so close Sequoia that it allowed us to go on all-day excursions without having the kids tired out from the drive. My parents joined us on the trip and they have never gone camping so had we actually camped (which our kids do enjoy) they would have not had as good of a time.
Do not expect a posh place. If you are looking for luxury, pay for a luxury hotel. This house is a place to rest and recharge as you discover the beautiful nature around you.
Having a washer/dryer was a plus for me. I was able to pack lightly. After our check out, our family said their good byes and headed for home but I was ready to continue our adventure (since I had just packed clean clothes! ) so my husband, the kids and I went to Kings Canyon ... WOW!!

This house is much nicer than the photos! The view is amazing from the all the windows facing the mountains. It's about a mile from the entrance of the park and across from the river. I really enjoyed the walk in shower in the upstairs bedroom. Highly recommend it!

Perfect getaway!!!
I've heard a lot about the giant redwood trees as we don't have trees that big in Europe. So it was amazing to see them in person. The park is just up the road from this house which is very beautiful and full of luxuries. I really like all the attention to details including the bathroom upstairs which has a walk in rock shower. The house is very private with just one neighbor sharing all this land. We are planning another visit in the Fall.

Stunning house
I'd never been to this part of California, after visiting area, it's my favorite part of the state, much less country. The owner referred me to check out some local spots and hiking trails. I highly recommend Lady Bug at end of South Fork Drive and Marble Fork up in Park for hikes. After some great hiking, we came back to this relaxing house with two fireplaces. We bbq'd on the deck which has amazing views. The house is very clean with lots of great interior designs including a walk in rock shower in master suite and a beautiful kitchen. The house is very secluded, it shares a private driveway with one neighbor but once in the house, it's like you have the entire side of mountain to yourself. The pictures don't do the house justice, you should check it out.

Very nice interior and very close to park boundries
Our family of 6 plus another couple stayed here and really enjoyed ourselves. We even had fun with the dog next door - very gentle and a hardly ever barked. The exterior of the home leaves a lot to be desired and the driveway is pretty daring but the roomy, comfortable inside of the home and the fantastic views were worth it! Other than advising that you bring your own soap (had to drive back down that driveway just to buy bars of soap and dishwasher detergent) I would recommend this home. The owner is very nice too.

Well needed rest....
This place was perfect for a staycation from LA. The house is much nicer than the pictures even show. Every detail has been accounted for. I really loved the kitchen and downstairs bathroom, it has copper sinks with this amazing tile work and stone shelves. WELL DONE! I also recommend the Gateway for dinner, it's kinda pricey but eating atop the river is worth the price. Thankfully the high speed internet worked well as I couldn't completely shut myself off from reality but this would be the place to do it. haha..next time maybe!!!

Ups and Downs of Alta Peak Vista
My family stayed at Alta Peak Vista for 11 nights in the summer of 2011. I would describe our experience as mixed.
The pros, in my opinion:
The location via-a-vis Sequoia is unmatched.
The house is spacious, with an open layout. The master suite is particularly roomy.
The kitchen is well stock with equipment.
The views from the house are grand.
The house has, as described, been renovated recently, so that it's decor and amenities are modern and comfortable. (It does show a little "wear and tear" (e.g., closet door off of its hinges and "dings" in the baseboards, but no more than one would expect from a rental property.)
The neighbors (that is, the family that shares the driveway and has a house on the adjacent lot) are very friendly (and have a very friendly dog).
The cons, in my opinion:
The master suite is "loft style" (that is, it's not completely closed off from the downstairs), making it less private and less quiet than I would have preferred.
The deck isn't as large as I would have expected. (The table seats four to six and I would guess the deck could accommodate one more table of that size and not much more.) Also, it could use some TLC (e.g., some of the boards need to be re-nailed).
Despite the fact that it's advertised as pet free, there was visible dog hair on the carpet in the kitchen and in the den (perhaps from the friendly neighbor dog)?
Most troubling, there was a massive ant infestation. We could not leave food unattended for more than 10 minutes before ants would be swarming; ants were in the cabinets and, in some cases, our food; ants were in the dishwasher.
Jerry was apologetic with respect to the issues we had with the home and attempted to remedy them. Specifically, he sent a cleaning lady to vacuum the rugs to deal with the dog hair (albeit several days after I complained), an exterminator to deal with the ants (sadly, unsuccessfully), a repairman to fix the broken toilet (finally fixed after several visits) and a repairman to fix the upstairs A/C unit (fixed, but after a night hot enough that the residents of the master suite had to sleep on the sofa). He was, however, unwilling to refund any of our rent for our inconvenience (again, a toilet that was broken for several days, A/C that didn't work for a day, dog hair in an allegedly pet free home (that persisted despite the additional cleaning and aggravated my allergies) and, most disturbing to me, an ant infestation that lasted the entire 11 days of my stay.

Great House, First Impressions Not So Good
Don't let first impressions ruin your stay. When we drove up the driveway, we were met with two broken down pickup trucks with the hoods up and a large dog blocking the driveway. You share the drive with neighbors. Our first thought was that we made a huge mistake booking this place for a family get together. But once we got into the house, it was a whole different story. Beautiful house, as you can see by the pictures. The bathrooms were unbelievable. Views from the main living area were magnificent. The upstairs bedroom was extremely large and was great for the five kids to sleep along with two adults. Couldn't ask for a better interior. However, the exterior could use some work. The deck needs some repairs. the flooring was loose and the railing was not solid. If you are tall beware of the gutter as you walk up the stairs. All of the men in our family hit their head at least once. Granted we are all over 6'4", but that's not that high. The next door dog was also a bit of a problem. Sweet dog, but hanging out at the door day and night and scaring everyone every time we walked out esp. at night got a little old. But he did provide a few good laughs at everyones expense. The house was close to Sequoia Park, only about a five minute drive which was why we were there. Overall, we would stay there again, but we also know the lay of the land now.
