Staying in this historical area gives you wonderful character, though with the natural trade-offs of older properties. The apartment itself has been tastefully renovated, was very clean, and had everything required for a comfortable stay. It’s an ideal spot if you enjoy walking to famous sights.
A few helpful logistical tips: taxis drop off about 200 meters away, and the airport bus is a 20-minute walk (do book ahead, as several people were turned away when I took it). The nearby local bus stop is also convenient for getting to Teatro Massimo and further out (but quicker to walk).
To set expectations, the stairs leading up to the apartment (2 floors above ground floor) are narrow with low ceilings, and the apartment gets limited direct sunlight.
Despite those minor drawbacks, I was very happy overall, and the host was warm and pleasant to deal with!
Nothing except what was to be expected from a very old property. And this immediate section of the alleyway was unfortunately quite messy with rubbish.

Appartamento molto bello, pulitissimo, in posizione strategica per visitare la città a piedi. I proprietari ci hanno fatto trovare acqua, vino, zucchero, sale, bagnoschiuma, shampo e l'indispensabile per i primi giorni.
Le scale non sono adatte per persone anziane o per famiglie con passeggino o con valigie ingombranti essendo strette e basse e al secondo piano. E anche se una volta in casa si apprezza l'appartamento, la via in cui è la casa è molto fatiscente e sporca. Nonostante questo noi la consigliamo.
