About this house rental
Property is located within Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakshore, close to hiking trails and beaches. The Village of Empire is just a couple of miles up M-22 for restaurants, coffee and shopping. Empire beach was voted the best sunset beach in 2015. Enjoy all that Leelanau County has to offer, fruit stands, rivers for kayaking and amazing dune bluffs for views of Lake Michigan. Sit on the front porch or by the campfire (firewood provided) and enjoy open views of nature and historic Leelanau County. The house has one master bedroom (queen) and an open loft upstairs with three beds (2 twin and 1 full size). There is a full size kitchen with cookware, living room, and one full bathroom. A laundry room includes a washer and dryer for you to use. Central A/C, satellite TV and Wi-Fi are provided. For 2016, a there are larger TVs, and a smart TV in the living room. If you do need to unwind and watch a movie we do provide a TV and DVD player in living room and master bedroom, with numerous DVDs for you to enjoy. We provide towels but do not provide bed linens nor pillows, please bring bed linens, blankets, and pillows with you. Outdoor seating and a charcoal grill are available.

We truly enjoyed our stay…. So much to see and do … every night we spent time on beach with a fire and watched the stars come out… the house was perfect for us .. only little thing was one bathroom made it somewhat difficult with family of 5 … we would definitely go back again !

Incredible property located in a private setting. Excellent location to Empire, Glenn Arbor and Glenn Haven. Enjoy hiking sleeping bear sand dunes and the beautiful sand beaches and clear water.
Upstairs of house is a great layout for kids to sleep. Yard is fun for exploration and riding bikes up and down the gravel driveway.
We hope to be back!

This beautiful house was perfectly located for all of our adventures in Sleeping Bear Dunes. Comfortable beds and very quiet. Kids loved the ping-pong table in the basement and swing outside. Loved the firepit for cool evenings. Just off the beaten path but close to everything.

This house was a nice place to stay, it's secluded and near Empire, easy drive to all the places you want to go around Sleeping Bear. Remember to take your own sheets and pillows. There is no place to buy them nearby.

Very cute and clean house in the best location ever. We have stayed in numerous houses in the same area over the years but this by far is one of my very favorites. We loved sitting outside and enjoying the evening sunsets on the front porch swing. The house had everything we needed and having a washer and dryer was awesome. Would recommend and will stay there again in the future.

Peaceful oasis!
We truly enjoyed our stay at the house. It was close to so many areas around Sleeping Bear Dunes! Our boys loved all of the toys and beaches items they had for kids. Can’t wait to come back again!

A nature lover’s dream.
This is a gem of a cottage nestled in picturesque surroundings. A perfect location to relax and enjoy the peace and tranquility or explore all the wonderful beaches and trails in the area.
The cottage is equipped with everything to ensure a comfortable stay. All credit and thanks to Nate and Jenny for their attention to detail and for being wonderful hosts.

Another great stay!
Love the cleanliness, the amenities and the location. Star gazing & bon fires were my favorite activity this time! We saw several shooting stars. The kiddos loved taking advantage of all the offerings of the house and we love being near the bike trails, sand dunes, hiking, kayaking and the area. Love the use of the washer & dryer too! It helps a ton. We enjoyed lots of ping pong games too. Another wonderful stay!! Thank you so much for sharing your home!! :-)

We had a great time
We were a family of 4, there was plenty of space. The house is secluded yet so close to everything. There is so much to do, kayaking, beach, trails, dune climbing, cherry & blueberry picking , lavender farm! We thought we would run out of things to do for a week but didn’t! We really had no problems with the house or anything else. We will come back!

Wonderful place
This is ideal for anyone who wants to be close to lots of amenities, but who doesn’t want to be in the middle of a dense vacation town with lots of foot traffic. This property is an easy drive to so many amazing beaches, hikes, kayaking, fishing, shopping, cherry picking etc. But you also have privacy, solitude, and nature. The house is well-stocked, super clean, and has lots of activities for downtime or a rainy day (lots to keep busy kids occupied). Owners were so helpful. Recommend highly!

Empire Gem
This is a great place. It is a perfect location for exploring the southern part of Sleeping Bear and Leelanau County. Within a mile of the Treat Farm trailhead and very close to Esch Beach and Empire Bluff. About 5 minutes by car from Empire. The house is clean. The beds are comfortable. . Perfect for a family. This a really cozy well-appointed place. We had minor issue with the internet and Nate was very responsive. We’d definitely stay again.

Love this place
We've stayed here three times now with our young family of five. So quiet, plenty of space on a rainy day and very close to beaches and hiking. We've stayed at more expensive places but we keep coming back here bc it's better anyway. Owners are easy to communicate with. Our kids ask to go to the "gray cottage 😄"

Perfect Up North Cabin
We love this cabin. We came five years ago and wanted to come back. Once again it did not disappoint. This is a perfect location, near to everything we wanted to see in the Leelenau Peninsula, and especially Sleeping Bear Dunes. And on the few days when we got rain, our kids loved the excellent selection of board games. Sometimes, I think our kids would have preferred to just stay inside and try out these games.
Two small nits: (1) It might be time to upgrade to an 18.5 inch Weber kettle grill. The slightly smaller Weber grill there is starting to rust through. (2) The online details for the cabin said there was a queen water bed. In fact, it's a regular bed, which was to our preference. But the online details should be updated.

Absolutely perfect for the small family! Nestled into a nice country spot.
This property was absolutely amazing! I would recommend it again and again. We were a family of 6 with four children and it worked out excellent! Beautiful area just absolutely perfect for traveling everywhere you wanted to go in the area.
